Nothing to do with Google:

Google, the Google logos, are trademarks of Google Inc. gOS is not affiliated with Google or their partners.

Its the OS that comes on the Green PC sold at Walmart (and other stores) hence the name gOS. The hardware is made be Everex.

Alas, the apps you mention are just links to the relevant web page, although I do believe the browser acts along the lines of Flock (might even be flock).

For the records, its a .deb based distro (based on Ubuntu) with the Enlightenment WM.

Still looks interesting and well worth checking out!

What kind of debate isn't?

Simple statement...Mac has its share of problems too. And given it carries such a small market share, just must take into account the size difference in some problem areas.

Sorry, the way you used the word best in your previous post suggested bias to me. Thanks for clearing that up .

Either way, saying that Macs have less problems due to the smaller user base is a flawed argument.

Above a certain number of users, reliability can be compared.

Had you made your statement about Amiga OS, I would have agreed!

Well lets clarify on the Mac issue as well! I myself aam no Mac expert by any stretch of the imagination...but I do know one who does nothing but work on Mac Applications (he is the lead programmer for a rather large software company that you can buy in any retail store).

Who? I know some very badly written off the shelf Mac apps. I used to write Windows software (urrrrgh) but that still didn't qualify me as an expert. I have developed for Mac OSX and Windows, and I must say I much prefer developing for OSX, its just nicer for the developer (Objective C Yay! drinker).

As he states very clearly, mac has its own BIG set of problems as well. So trying to say Mac is "so much better" is bunk.

Just because it has problems too, doesn't mean its not a lot better.

Mac has always been very good with miltimedia applications and has lead the way in many of those areas. However, Mac has had many failures, jst like Windows.

Such as? Actually Windows has caught up with Macs with regards to multimedia performance. The main cause of this was due to the Fat32 filesystem not being able to handle files greater than 4GB. This is an old saying and no longer relevant.

The MAIN reason mac has little security issues now, is simply because they do not have the "attacks" on the core programming, like Windows does. Why? mac only make up about 6-8% of the business computing world!

Not true, people who search for vulnerabilities rarely target business machines. Just look at email viruses et al. Recently there was a trojan horse for Macs. You had to visit a porn site, click on a link that said you needed a video codec. Accept the download, double click the file and enter your admin password.

This is because you need to authenticate to be able to write system files on OSX (and to open ports below 1024).

There was a recent attack on Macs which involved the WiFi driver, but was proven not to be a serious as it sounds.

I'm NOT defnending Windblows or Microsux by any means. I simply have to deal with thier CRAP because I do this for a "living" and have to face thier junk on daily basis.

But had to clarify to the Mac users...your's is NOT the best either!

What is the best? Best at what?

My choices are:

Security / Server / Firewall / Router - OpenBSD
Home Server / Media Server / Security - Linux (Debian)
Development (Web - Ruby, PHP, Python, MySQL)) / Design - Mac OSX
Games - Windows

I don't play games... So I don't run Windows - Although ID Software and EA have recently committed to releasing all their major titles on OSX, others are expected to follow.

Not having a go, just trying to clear a few things up for the viewers at home .

You have an issue if I am not?! Second Edition was pwnage, guy.

Do I have an issue? No.
Do I disagree? Yes.

Although the way you referred to Win98SE as pwnage, leads me to believe you are.

There is not one Windows operating system I would describe as good. But 2000 is the best out of all of them.

Security on 98 / ME just doesn't exist.

ok, a friend told me to just restart my laptop and then try it again and it looks like it's working. thank you guys sooooo much, though! i really appreciate it. and sum, i'd buy you whatever you wanted if i was old enough! laugh

A reboot fixes most issues!

For the record, if you press [CTRL] + [SHIFT] + [ESC] then find the installation process in the list or processes (often called InstallShield.exe) and end the process, then start the installation again it normally works.

Always try to reboot first! <- They should make that a sticky.

For the record, Macs aren't that expensive.

i ended up getting a virus on it that completely killed my comp but that was my own fault for not using my Anti Virus as much as i should have

If the OS handled security properly (I mean well thought out ACLs, not being able to run programs with system privileges and proper file based protection). The virus wouldn't have killed your system.

So in short your system died because Windows is rubbish...

Maybe its because I'm fortunate to have been bought up around many different cultures.

My uncle is a Muslim, my grandmother Jewish, my aunt grew up and was educated in Germany and my very best friend (since I can remember) is black.

Race bears absolutely no relevance with regards to how I form an opinion of someone.

If their attractive, I'll think their attractive, if their rude, I'll think their rude. Colour plays no part in my thinking.

I was seeing a girl, and I swear that until my friend mentioned that fact she was Asian I didn't realise... The thought never entered my head.

But thats just me.

Nope, but if you wouldn't date me because of the colour of my skin I would be offended.

Race and sex are two very different things.

Hello im black woman who likes to date white men, i dont see anything wrong with it but sometime my black men gets affened, why i dont know its not that i dont love my race i just prefere to date white men. have anyone else have had problems like this?

I'd be offended too if someone told me they didn't want to date me because I'm white!

I think its a shame whenever race, looks, money or anything else plays a part in choosing a partner.

At the end of the day, we all bleed the same.

You say you don't know why, well maybe it would be a good thing to find out why. Who would you prefer for instance: Will Smith or George Clooney?

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, and its no ones place to tell you who to date.

They tried to sue people who downloaded their music through Napster. Great way to alienate your fans and give people an indication you're in it for the money only.
