Welcome back! Umm you missed some numbers..in the SP version..I'm thinking SP15 or so MAYBE by then.
Honestly, I think Vista will be like ME, short lived, and because it already has a NASTY reputation. So what Microsux will most likely do, get most of the major bugs out of Vista (in the next 2 years) then have some marketing bs and say "we have a NEW version" of Windows called "XXXXXXXX", which will be Vista with major fixes and improvements. Just my edumacated GUESS! |

i'm looking at getting a laptop in the next month, but vista scares me, i work with it at one of my contracted offices, and i hate it!

Very unstable at its core programming level. And very short lived and veryt little support from Microsoft on the support level. You will see the same with Vista. Also figuring in I'm looking at it from the realm of Windows 3.0, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98', Windows NT 3.5, Windows NT 4.0, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP and now Windows Vista (did I miss any in there???) and having to work in depth with each...I'd say I can make an pretty accurate comparison between "versions". Oh and that does NOT include the "Server" editions! But hey, I'm just a pup with 3 active brain cells and two are on perminent vacation!! |

It was actually a very stable core, but for business only type uses. It hated multimedia and games..so yeh for the regukar user it sucked..but in business applications, it was actually a decent stable core. |

i ended up getting a virus on it that completely killed my comp but that was my own fault for not using my Anti Virus as much as i should have If the OS handled security properly (I mean well thought out ACLs, not being able to run programs with system privileges and proper file based protection). The virus wouldn't have killed your system. So in short your system died because Windows is rubbish... Ta, ~C |

With the recent problems being encountered by Windows users all across the country, people are begin to ask themselves if windows is a virus. In response to the high demand for an answer to that question a study was done and concluded the following.
1. Viruses replicate quickly. Windows does this. 2. Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so. Windows does this. 3. Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk. Windows does this. 4. Viruses are usually carried, unkown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Windows does that too. 5. Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. Same with Windows, yet again. Maybe Windows really is a virus. Nope! There is a difference! Viruses are well supported by their authors, are frequently updated, and tend to become more sophisticated as they mature. So there! Windows is not a virus. |
