Watched a foreign movie called "outside the law".
A story of an Algerian family who get involved with the freedom struggle, to gain independence from France !!! Wow .... did not know the French were as bad as any other colonists???
Excellent watch ..

Doesn't surprise me at all. The French aren't a particularly gentle people. They're quite arrogant and don't give a toss what others think. Just think of all the nuclear testing they kept doing even though the entire world was protesting against it. They didn't give a toss and just continued with it.
They're the ones responsible for sinking Green Peace's Rainbow Warrior when GP was observing the fallout from their nuclear tests on Mururoa Atoll, part of French Polynesia, and protesting against it.
French a-holes posing as tourists and supporters boarded the ship. Two explosives sank it in 1985.
They got on my blacklist right there and then. And having a short holiday in France later made clear that was a good choice.

If you're interested:
Rainbow Warrior was sabotaged and sunk just before midnight NZST on 10 July 1985, by two explosive devices attached to the hull by operatives of the French intelligence service (DGSE). One of the twelve people on board, photographer Fernando Pereira, returned to the ship after the first explosion to attempt to retrieve his equipment, and was killed when the ship was sunk by the second, larger explosion.

A homicide inquiry began after the arrests of two French agents. The revelations of French involvement caused a political scandal and the French Minister of Defence Charles Hernu resigned. The captured French agents were imprisoned, but later transferred to French custody. They were confined to the French military base on the Island of Hao for a brief period before being released. After facing international pressure, France agreed to pay compensation to Greenpeace, and later admissions from the former head of the DGSE revealed that three teams had carried out the bombings. In addition to those successfully prosecuted, two DGSE divers, Jacques Camurier and Alain Tonel, had carried out the actual bombing, but their identities have never been officially confirmed

I'll check out the movie later :) I like learning historic stuff.

thanks Crystal , for a very informative response ... I will check it out for sure ....i like movies or documentary with a bit of history thrown in ....

Dark Age 1987 - crocodile movie, set in Australia. 6,1 rating

I liked it but the reminder of how thick white man is and how little they care about animals and nature grated on me tremendously. I've lived that side of white man when I lived in the Aboriginal community. Thank goodness many of them were great as well.

But I liked the story and the involvement of the Aboriginals in it. It definitely isn't your default 'wild animal' croc movie like Rogue, Crawl, Lake Placid etc.

if you have not read the books, the first alien VRS predator was pretty cool.. if you've seen it.. for get about the bitter taste the second one left. and read the books.
for a TV series, you might like the last ship.

I didn't know about the books. But I don't read much anymore, unfortunately, used to love it, but I got a neck injury that makes it a real pain.
I've seen one of the Alien vs Predator movies, didn't know there was a 2nd one.
The Last Ship was really good, esp. the first season.

the books were kinda like the first alien movie. based in space on coloney worlds.
the first AVP movie was kind of a nod to them, only still based on earth.
I'll check my library for the author, you might be able to find them on line in audio, for the seeing impaired.
the second A V P movie was requiem. and I found it lacking. but thats probably because I've read the books.
I see now, that you actually all ready had the last ship on one of your lists.
how about falling sky's??

Falling Skies was absolutely awesome!!
And yes, Last Ship was already on my list of good stuff and having seen it.
That's the problem I guess, I've seen so much already and the rate of good stuff coming out is very slow, and even more so now due to the pandemic.

Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - 2021 - 6,1

It was a bit odd at first as I didn't get the ill vibe between Bryce & Kincaid at all. At the end of the 1st movie they were quite okay with one another, so that was weird to me.
But then it did get good with some funny moments as well.

And also great to finally see something new again!

Eight Below - 2006 - 7,3 rating, which it is worth for sure.
I'd come across it before, never watched it, but Tom mentioned it and I thought, let's just go for it!

It sure as hell doesn't disappoint, it's just that certain moments are so damned sad, and yep, then I'm bawling my eyes out.

Personally I don't get why they left the sled dogs tied up without any shelter at all with a severe storm coming. You gotta count on the worst, not the best scenario.

VERY much worth watching!

In the Antarctic, after an expedition with Dr. Davis McClaren, the sled dog trainer Jerry Shepherd has to leave the polar base with his colleagues due to the proximity of a heavy snow storm. He ties his dogs to be rescued after, but the mission is called-off and the dogs are left alone at their own fortune. For six months, Jerry tries to find a sponsor for a rescue mission while his dogs fight for survival.

The Grey was wonderful!! But I like most Liam Neeson movies. It isn't really realistic, wolves don't behave that way, but still a very good movie!

Don't know if you've seen "The Mountain Between Us"? If not, I recommend it!
