I judge no one. Therefore, according to Jesus, I will not be judged.

If god made man, and man made science....what's the bloody argument?

It seems the want to have it ONE way... but not the other, shows the discrepancies in that moth eaten old tome quite clearly.

Eat your cake.

Hmm, no. I dont think that is necessarily the reason for this admonition. More than likely it is because humans had been Pagan for thousands of years prior to the writing of Deuteronomy and the condoning of stoning to death children and suspected non virgins. Oh and oxen for goring people by accident. Cant forget that. laugh laugh laugh

Perhaps the title of this thread may have been more appropriate as.."Why we shouldn't have faith in Humankind."

Truly.

Does this sound like a confident all-wise supreme intelligence?

Not to me it doesn't.

I'm not passing judgments on the God. I'm simply saying that this book sounds to me like it was written by egotistical men who were control freaks.

I don't believe that our creator is a pompous ass like this book makes him out to be.

Giving me the Bible and saying "This book is about your heavenly father", is like an insult.

I hand it right back to you and say, "Bull crap! This book is full of lies. My heavenly father isn't a pompous ass like you make him out to be!"

I'd be ashamed of my heavenly father if the Bible were true. I'd be going around apologizing to everyone for my father's out of control ego.

There's no way I would want to believe that God is like this on PURE FAITH!

There are so many things WRONG with this picture of God, and almost NOTHING right with it.

Why would I want to put my FAITH in this picture?

I'll be perfectly honest about it. I pray to the powers that be that God is NOT like what the Bible discribes!

That would be a nightmare, and certainly not something I'm going to put my faith in hoping that it might be true!

I'll do just the opposite and pray to the powers that be that the bible is a total lie.

I'm quite confidient that it is though anyway.

It's totally self-inconsistent.

It contradicts itself from start to finish.

It claims that God is all-wise, all-loving and all-merciful, and then it goes on to describe a God who exhibits behavior that is precisely the opposite!

The book contains many parallel stories from other myths. It also is about a human-like God who demands blood sacrifices. But this is the MAINSTAY of all manmade myths! This is mankinds greatest superstition.

Why would the real creator of this universe just happen to also want blood scrifices just like all the other manmade mythologies?

I think the fact that the bible is entirely the fabrication of man is so blatantly evident that it should even be in question.

Yet just look at how many people are willing to fight to the death to back it?

Something they can't possibly know to be true, and can only believe in faith, yet they are so anxious to believe that this story is true.

Why?

I'll never know.

I guess it's like Skyhook once said. People need something to believe in and the Bible is the most popular myth right now. It became popular by force and by threat!

And now we're stuck with it poluting our modern day society. ohwell

Moses murders an Egyptian after making sure that no one is looking. Exodus.

2:11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

2:12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Sneaky bastard....laugh laugh laugh

The birth story of Moses is suspiciously similar to that of the birth of Sargon, an Akkadian monarch from the 3rd millennium BCE. So more plagiarism. The Akkadians were Semitic people that sacked the Sumerians.

We all know the story of baby Moses placed in an "ark of bulrushes" by his Hebrew mother and floated on the water to find a home with Pharaoh's daughter. But this was not the first time in history that such a mode of transportation was chosen for a Semite child of humble beginnings who would become a leader of a great nation.

Sargon:

A short testimony from Sargon has been pieced together from two incomplete Neo-Assyrian tablets and one Neo-Babylonian fragment. It begins, "Sargon the mighty king, king of Agade, am I." Sargon goes on to describe his humble birth.

According to Sargon himself, a Semite woman gave him birth. She placed baby Sargon in a reed basket waterproofed with pitch, and set him adrift upon the headwaters of the Euphrates. The basket drifted downstream and was found by a Sumerian farmer irrigating his fields who reared little Sargon in his home.

The parallel lives of Sargon and Moses are intriguing. Both were born to Semite mothers. Both were placed in reed baskets lined with pitch and set afloat. Both were reared in the homes of non Semites, one Sumerian, the other Egyptian. As young men, both became part of their respective royal courts. Both confronted rulers. And both became mighty leaders over a great nation.

But I would not feel so all alone. Everybody must get stoned.

They'll stone you if you if you're a wizard or a witch.

A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:27

They would have not been having it if these poor fools were stoning for taking the lord's name in vain. No divergence allowed. noway
