I knew it wouldn't take long before Phila got here. Actually you're right, protocol dictates that anyone coming into an ER complaining of chest pain becomes a priority, the hospital dropped the ball on this one and I know for a fact from a certain sorce, that they too know it. But that's a whole other issue, I'm surprised this story made it rather than the one about the men following the blind woman home and raping her in her house. Our society has gone buck wild.

this may or may not help you out

Women vs. Men

WOMANS COMPLAINT

when I try to talk to you
all I get is an ugh
even after love making
not even a hug

year in and year out
it's always been this way
I ask how you are
again, nothing to say

before we were wed
you talked constantly
about everything
including me

you tell me
tis the way of a man
to love, provide
and be there when he can

it's always actions and deeds
that you use to communicate
that's not what this woman needs
I'd rather you verbally relate

talk to me
like you used to do
I'm always here
when you decide to ......

MANS RESPONSE

you know I loved you
since the day we met
talking with actions
has been my mind set

we've been together
for so very long
will verbal assurance
keep our love strong

if that's what it takes
then sit right here
I've got something to say
give me your ear

I want to communicate
during our love making
in the throes of ecstacy
while our bodies are shaking

but, I never do
why make a big fuss
you always make enough noise
for the both of us...............

I however feel that communication is the number 1 ingredient to a great marriage, and or a relationship, but sometimes we need to ask ourselves, is it me or my partner that has the problem with communication. Love is not enough anymore, you need to talk.....

Just a few pointers

metaphors-a comparison between two things, based on resemblance or similarity, without using "like" or "as

using the word "like" in a poem is a no-no, unless using it as a Simile, although there are times when we feel it can't be help...Poets should be able to be descriptive with a vast imagination, therefore using metaphors...i,e. rain can be tears, doves can signify peace or love:

Titles-try to make them unique as possible, and remember the title doesn't always have to be in the poem itself, sometimes even the title itself can be metaphoric to the poem

short, powerful writes or short formed writes-should be without "and", "the" and definitely should never have more than one "I". Ex;

I, for the sake of genuine love
would gladly relinguish my heart

^there are two ways to write this...the above or move the "I" down...The first one seems more appealing and poetic, while the second one seems less imaginative.

for the sake of genuine love
I would gladly relinguish my heart

Simile- A comparison using "like" or "as" Robert Frost was one of the few poets who could get away with using metaphors and simile in the same line...Ex; The clouds were low and hairy in the skies, like locks blown forward in the gleam of eyes. taken from "Once by the Pacific"

Much has been said about the new style of writing, "abstract, free verse, etc....It can be very unique and takes away the standard of iambic and trochaic meter. Besides the old styles are classic for a reason, develop your own style of writing, use your imagination. It is okay to write like the greats and use their formats, but only as a challenge to yourself, be better than they were! Breaking new ground is hard, not only because there are no guidelines to follow, but also because there are far too many who refuse to let you forget shakespeare, browning, frost, etc: and "the world is flat"...However one day, their children may be using your work as an example.

Less is best...an unwritten rule and yet one that many aspire to, lengthy poems for the most part end up very boring, especially today, because it seems many writers can't stay focused all the way through...the beginning starts out terrific, the middle is awesome and the ending ends up bland...how many times have you seen it? Also shorten your lines to make a more powerful statement and flow, get rid of unnecessary fillers...Ex:

she visited his grave today placing a rose upon the stone
memories of his arms removed feelings of being alone

or this

placing a rose upon the stone
she no longer felt alone

^the vision of the reader can accept the fact that she had visited a grave from the insertion of "stone", also a spirit we can assume has over come her because she no longer feels alone, therefore we gather it to be a memory of someone who comforted her during life....it's a stretch, but that's what poetry is, imaginative writing......

Now I know that some or many of you could care less about any of this, and that's fine too, I'm just sharing, if it applies, use it, if not, no big deal....Have a great Holiday....Peace

yes and why are they appearing before congress, who gives a s.h.i.t and we are paying for such senselessness, I guess they don't have anything better to look at,. like healthcare or these dumb a.s.s wars....

who cares who Tiger is sleeping with, that's between him and his wife, I just want to see him surpass Nicholas and go down in history as the greatest golfer "on the course" of my time.....

driving a caddy and not a buick, ha ha...nice one

How come he doesn't get this much exposure from all the kids he's put through college and all the programs he's started for disadvantaged youths...oh, not good press I guess.

Let's Play Army

cap guns explode
bang, bang you're dead
you missed me
no, I got you right in the head

and the battle rages on
until all have been shot
except for the one lad
whom no one got

this is his game
the one he loves to play
he always wins
being trained that way

parents so proud
for brave is he
as they await the day
he goes in the army

finally the day has come
time to go to war
little do they know
what's in store

their little hero
going to fight for the flag
sadly he'll return
in a zippered bag...

How many parents had the slightest thought
that their offspring would one day end up
in a bag, how much honor is in that.

"A child doesn't come into this world to go to war,
we teach them, train them, and in the end we bury them,
may GOD forgive us"....Bob Shank

****before your patriotic souls go postal on such a controversial issue, let me say that I'll refuse to comment on such childishness unless you wish to discuss it with me personally, I write what I feel and believe in, these so called current wars are not part of that belief as they have nothing at all to do with our freedoms that we so enjoy. If you have a child in the armed services I'll pray daily for his safe return as I pray for those who fight for the other side as well.

this is where Ms Harmony and I disagree, you are right to care about him in a humane way, always be compassionate, but not just for the sake that he carries the title of "biological" father....that's so easy to be, being a "real" father is another story...wealways seem to punish ourselves with the guilt that isn't ours....sad

negativity breeds negativity, sometimes you have to cut your losses and surround yourself with positive people. I wouldn't give a damn who a person was to me or what member of the family they were, if they brought a negative vibe around my child, I would not bring my child around them, cut and dry, what's more important, your child or appeasing someone who has yet to grow up.

I moderate a poetry site, many people on that site couldn't believe how comfortable and "off the chain" they thought it was an internet identity, until we had a reunion of sorts and they realized I'm the same way in person as I am on the net except a tad more brutally honest in person, due to site restraints...lol...The first thing you'd notice about me is I'm an observer, I love nothing better than studying people......

so they wouldn't turn blue.

^whew.....

tackled you against the wall
and said, "It's over."
You struggled for a second

^been there done that, and sadly after all these years of recollecting, the only thing that still hurts is my hand. Felt this to the core

there are many venues to learn the trades, many stores and even sites on the internet "google" can teach you the proper do it yourself techniques, but word to the wise, the old heads know their stuff, talk with the ones that don't cut corners but know the trade inside and out.....
