Let's Play Army

cap guns explode
bang, bang you're dead
you missed me
no, I got you right in the head

and the battle rages on
until all have been shot
except for the one lad
whom no one got

this is his game
the one he loves to play
he always wins
being trained that way

parents so proud
for brave is he
as they await the day
he goes in the army

finally the day has come
time to go to war
little do they know
what's in store

their little hero
going to fight for the flag
sadly he'll return
in a zippered bag...

How many parents had the slightest thought
that their offspring would one day end up
in a bag, how much honor is in that.

****before your patriotic souls go postal on such a controversial issue, let me say that I'll refuse to comment on such childishness unless you wish to discuss it with me personally, I write what I feel and believe in, these so called current wars are not part of that belief as they have nothing at all to do with our freedoms that we so enjoy. If you have a child in the armed services I'll pray daily for his safe return as I pray for those who fight for the other side as well.

Army- is never truly a game is it? We play it as a child. I don't wish to ever see my son go to war. Blessings on those that do. Great write.
