Have you ever experienced it?
I know for a fact some have as they have posted it. What do you think an online bully gets out of it? Are they cowards who are online keyboard warriors? Bullying is abusive social interaction between peers which can include aggression, harassment, and violence. Bullying is typically repetitive and enacted by those who are in a position of power over the victim. A growing body of research illustrates a significant relationship between bullying and emotional intelligence (EI). Mayer et al., (2008) defines the dimensions of overall EI as "accurately perceiving emotion, using emotions to facilitate thought, understanding emotion, and managing emotion".[86] The concept combines emotional and intellectual processes.[87] Lower emotional intelligence appears to be related to involvement in bullying, as the bully and/or the victim of bullying. EI seems to play an important role in both bullying behavior and victimization in bullying; given that EI is illustrated to be malleable, EI education could greatly improve bullying prevention and intervention. That is Wikipedia . |

as a mature adult with sound mind you can NOT be a victim unless one allows one self to be.....''WE TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO TREAT US''. VICTIM HOOD OR VICTIM MENTALITY IS A WAY OF LIFE FOR SOME...THE TRUE VICTIMS ARE THE ONES THAT ARE YOUNG OR WITH MENTAL OR PHYSICAL PROBLEMS, THEY ARE THE ONES THAT NEED TO BE RESCUED FROM BULLIES....THERE ARE CLASSES FOR PEOPLE TO LEARN HOW NOT TO RESPOND AS A VICTIM..... |

Well, thus far YOU, Ladywind & Cleve, and Wiki have just depicted the Micro, while Macroscopic Bullying is rampant, especially since and throughout last year. Facebook & Twitter routinely bully conservatives by disabling their accounts. Last year when an unhinged feral junkie fails to go peacefully with law enforcement, remaining so under the influence of Fentanyl and Meth, a butterfly could have induced respiratory failure. A nationwide collection of Marxist Minions and those inadequately anthropologically removed from their origins so easily manipulated by Marxists in Media, in government and in Academia AND those professionals in the "Race Market", "pretended to protest" such that they could bully OUR entire Republic.....inflicting BILLIONS of DOLLARS of Damage.Theft & Pyromania AND FEAR upon millions of innocent, victimized citizens...
Bullying is an Essential to the Marxist Proletariat..... ... With our Public Schools nothing than K=12 Marxist Indoctrination... ... Just HOW can we expect NOT to cultivate generations bullies. |

Here is another definition : An umbrella term, cyberbullying encompasses many harassing behaviors, but boils down to “willful and repeated harm inflicted through the use of computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices” [Source: Cyberbullying Research Center]. The problem with bullying is it is subjective and often comes down to the mindset and values of the person , how sensitive they are and how they define bullying and how they interpret communication/interaction . Disagreeing with someone is not bullying Personality clashes are common in any situation were strangers interact . That does not equate to bullying . Just like in real life there are people we just do not connect with . Sometimes people do not understand the difference between posting a topic and posting a topic that invites personal scrutiny . The latter opens up the opportunity for the person’s behaviour /experience to be discussed . A little like the rate me section . Some are offended by the feedback . That is not bullying either. If someone seeks a personal opinion they need to accept there will be positive and negative feedback . This site is moderated . I am sure bullying behaviour is not tolerated . Totally agree with Cleve’s post about victim mentality . |

Curious .. does spreading baseless online rumours or lies about a person count as bullying ??? I have definitely been subject to that kind of behaviour online . I put it down to jealously and insecurity rather than bullying.

I think someone who bullies people online simply isn't fulfilled in life. Emotional poverty, lack of social life or simply just not happy in life.
On properly moderated sites it shouldn't be possible, on sites not so well moderated you see people being downright awful and cruel, on reasonably moderated sites you get people resorting to bullying under the radar. Meaning they go about it in such a sneaky way, dress it up to make it look prettier, that it cannot easily be judged bullying or intimidating. Kind of silly that even adults still do this. I used to think it was a young child's thing. Unfortunately it does happen. |

After decades of participating in online forums, chat rooms and social media they can try but they get nowhere with me.
That's because my reputation/self-esteem isn't fragile anymore. Trolls still exist but they have no power over me. |

I've seen people labeled as bullies in the
online world, simply for expressing a differing opinion. |

fighting online is like cheating in the special Olympics...win or loose you still look retarted.
I am who I am no one's approval is nessessary :) |

Obviously you know very little about the Special Olympics or retardation.
Perhaps you should stick to things you are familiar with. |

An social media influencer (forgot where she was from) took her own life recently because people were bullying her on her instagram posts :( I saw that Ava. So sad, she was beautiful inside and out. There needs to be self control, just hang with those who are like minded and a positive influence in your sphere and online... and be encouraging to your friends. I wish she had deleted her profiles, asked for help and not listened to those who hated her ❤ RIP xxx |

over the years I have run into on line bullies on various sites. when I messaged them " off line" and not in front of their "audience" , they always back down or don't reply at all.

First rule of Mingle2.
FORUM RULES 1) Do not attack/slam/insult others or the site. You can discuss the message or topic, but not the messenger - NO EXCEPTIONS. If you are attacked by another user, use the Report Post link within that post. If you reciprocate instead, YOU will also be subject to the same consequences as the attacker. Defending yourself, defending a friend, etc. are NOT excuses. Violations of this rule are taken very seriously and may result in being banned without warning! |

Curious .. does spreading baseless online rumours or lies about a person count as bullying ??? I have definitely been subject to that kind of behaviour online . I put it down to jealously and insecurity rather than bullying. Yes off course spreading baseless rumours or lies are a form of bullying, because those activities are harmful or those activities are carried out with the intention of causing HURT... Maybe the underlying CAUSE of the bullying could jealousy or insecurity but the actions are bully tactics (to cause hurt because I can, because I'm bigger or richer or because I don't like you or whatever)... As @Duttoneer points out, "attack / slam / insult" those are bully tactics... Sometimes you may join a social website, where there's an elite group who maintain control over conversations by grouping together and diminishing the value of newcomers comments or posts, labelling them as whacko's, simply because the newcomers ideas/posts doesn't fit the groups clique... And maybe these group actions could been seen as bullying too... Conversing with someone or each other (as we are doing now) and debating things / points, without insult or denigrating anyone is NOT bullying obviously... After all everyone has a right to an opinion, no matter how accurate or out of whack it may be... |
