hi all im not christian or atheist but i follow the old norsc religion from the turn of the last mellenium. and have done for about 15 years now.

now i have had on more than one account had christians shout at me telling me that worshiping more than one god is wrond and i will burn in hell for it. why there reason is that my religion has no morrell rules to it and has too many things to worship but most importantly its not beliveable.

now stop me if im wrong but just because i pay hommage to 3 gods (odin, thor and loki) i am a bad person and i as one preast told me" i am worse than any rapist or mollestor". now please forgive me but after all the open hosiliety i started telling people i was atheist due to the constant verbal bashing i was reciveing on a all to frequent basis. when i said i was atheist i was told on more than one account (every time) that i am a saitanist but of another name and on more than one account been spat at. so if any atheist has recived a fraction of the cr*p i have i can understand there hostilety.

now i am open about my religion because at 25 if i cant have people treat me like a equil then they are not worth my time. i have friends who are christian and they now understand what i follow and dont try to harrass me over it which makes a nice change and we do have debates about both sides of the coin and its fun. but when people start spitting punching and namecalling because there views or belifes are different then thats where we have problems.

Truly!

I came to grips with that sort of thing quite early. The reason was quite simple. I fully realized that my natural sexual desires, and so forth are not only perfectly natural, but they are perfectly wholesome and far more importantly they are totally sincere.

This is where Christians truly drop the ball. They act like normal healthy wholesome sexual desires are some sort of sinful thing.

The whole idea that sexual desire should be a sin is itself an insane notion. What kind of a mean dastardly God would create a species with naturally innate sexual desires, and then make it a sin to acknowledge these innate feelings?

That itself would be a dastardly thing to do to people.

Moreover, why should the act of procreation itself be viewed as such a disgusting thing? The Bible has women in need of spiritual cleansing after having given birth! And that spiritual cleansing is twice as long if they have a girl than if they have a boy, like as if giving birth to another woman is twice as sinful or something. whoa

Clearly these are just man-made superstitions that don't hold one iota of truth or wisdom. There can be no doubt about it.

Yes it is getting easier to practice our beliefs because this country really is supposed to support "freedom of religion."

That means.... play nice.

They don't burn witches any more.

At least not in the public square.

Agreed. I really understand now why so many have such shame and self hatred when it comes to sex. Religion pretty much teaches it!

If people understood how special, how meaningful sex was, and that these desires are ok and healthy, that God wasn't gonna punish them for acting on them, society as a whole would be a lot more emotionally stable I think.

Truly. drinker

And besides, it's only the decent sincere and honest people who are burdened by these guilt feelings in the first place.

If you weren't an honest sincere righteous person in the first place then you wouldn't give a hoot about whether or not a God approves of your thoughts and actions.

The mere fact that you are deeply concerned about this proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that you're a righteous person or at least deeply concerned about trying to be one.

I can't imagine anyone who is concerned about their righteousness being cast into a state of eternal punishment. That would clearly be a grave injustice to be sure.

It can't be anymore disgusting that Christians singing "We Love That Old Rugged Cross".

How's that any different from singing, "We Love That Old Dangling Noose?"

From my perspective sexual grunts and moans are a lot "less" disgusting than listening to songs like "Onward Christian Solider" etc. whoa

I guess I'd rather have sex than go to a prayer meeting. laugh

I used to be an atheist, but then found that the greek religion and more recently wiccan, I decided to look into wiccan more and have found that I like it.

Now as for being afraid of dying, I was never afraid of dying. As an atheist, I had decided that death was just me returning to the earth from which I came. Yes my life ends but as part of the earth I would still have eternal life.

That's only if you think the earth has eternal life...

As a Christian, we learn that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and a sound mind." -- 2 Timothy

Because atheists do not believe in God, where do you feel emotions such as fear come from?

I guess I don't understand your question.

First you say that God has 'not' given us a spirit of fear and then you ask atheists (because the don't believe in god) where they think fear comes from.

What's the connection?

Let me clarify: Christians are afraid whenever they deviate from the path of faith. But, we know that because we believe in God, there is nothing for us to fear.

Atheists do not believe in God. So, when you are afraid, where does this fear come from? That is, why do you think there is fear?

That sounds good, but most Christians do experience fear. Probably because they don't really have the faith they claim to have.

I can only speak from my point of view. I have faith in the laws that are in place. That would be the law of consequences, or "karma." The law of cause and effect.

I have faith everything is as it should be according to the law.

I think a certain amount of fear is normal. But from what you say, when a Christian experiences fear that is just one more thing that probably makes them feel unworthy of God because people tell them that they have deviated from the path of faith. That's another guilt trip for them to deal with.

My understanding of universal law has given me more faith than most Christians.

from miriam webster

fear: : to be afraid or apprehensive

,,to be APPREHENSIVE

there are THREE definitions for apprehensive

: capable of understanding or quick to do so : discerning
2: having awareness or knowledge of something : cognizant
3: viewing the future with anxiety or alarm

,so, fear, is used in many contexts. We are capable , because of our mind, to discern right from wrong, safe from unsafe, good from bad.

we are also capable of being aware and having knowledge

we are also capable of feeling alarm

As a christian, I feel the context of scripture , such as this

And Moses said to the people, Fear not; for God has come to prove you, so that the [reverential] fear of Him may be before you, that you may not sin. Exodus 20: 20

is indicative of the DIFFERENT TYPES of fear humans are capable of. As a christian, I do not live in FEAR (anxiety) at all, but I do live WITH a respectful awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the reality of actions and consequences.
