Why Marriage is Inherently Heterosexual
by Patrick Lee
December 19, 2008

A recent story in Newsweek claimed that the only reasons for opposing same-sex “marriage” are religious. But there are powerful arguments for marriage rooted not in faith but in reason.
**********************

You can read his arguments if you like. See link above

Like I am going to believe a bunch of garbage from the mouth of the liberal magaizine like newsweek?Of course they are going to say that. But I challenge you once again to look at the other countries of the world on their views on gays.I keep brining up China many times since they are Aethist and there is no support what so ever for gays in that country. How many people are in that country?Over a billion?Look at Africa. Many of those people could care less about religion.Being gay in that country is a crime and could get you executed. All over the world it is the same story. So blaming the Christians is senseless and pointless since people both religious and non religious agree on this issue overwealminly all over this issue.Christianity aside no other religions accept this type of behaviour either. So if you are going to lump all the religions together on this issue you are going to have at least 90% of the world against gays. The rest of the 10% will probably not be very supportive either. As a matter of fact the only people who seem to support this issue is the gays themselves.

surprised

It was an article about non religious arguments supporting that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

This article written by a christian, why would I be suprised by it. He makes the assumption that even nonreligious should see it the same way, and though many do it's still their opinion based on how they see things. It only reaffirms things for people that are against gay marriae.

I think it's painfully obvious there are certain members here who hate Chrisitans more than they hate anything else on this earth. It's not like we can't read between the lines here people. slaphead

Also flip flopping on your beliefs just because it may make you look like racist only worsens your cause.I respect people alot more when they can give a constant answer they trully belive in instead of yaking a bunch of filler to please the masses.

It's painfully obvious some members don't read so well. I haven't read any member in this thread yet that actually hates christians, I would say it's more about some christians attitudes.

If you are reading between the lines and did'nt get it well then you can't be reading any of it, all that well, especially when you accuse an article before you have even read it and it turns out to be in your favor. That's got to the funniest thing i have seen all day.

'If you don't believe' makes those places christian organizations?

do you mean if a specific religion wants to go by their beliefs they should fund one of their own??? this i agree with but then again it's a catch 22

Looks to me like free speech and the ability to disagree with a populist view without adding some fairy dust and sweet nothings (political correctness) is the fast track to getting booted. Here or HERE.

ALL ABOARD Obamas bullet train to socialism. Second car, reserved for "acceptable" (diplomatic & liberal) minglers.

Resistance is futile!

Well I forgot to respond to one thing you said, you say you see anti-christian, but I really don't see that, I see anger with some christians on the far right about this issue. Why people need to remind us that we are not liked by the rest of the world too is beyond me, as if we aren't aware that we are disliked in many religions and in many non-religious circles.

After a while I think people that are so disliked get really angry after constant harrasment from the religious community or mostly christians.

My pride wants to say I am angry, but if I really am honest it hurts, though I am uncomfortable giving the enemy that much power, so I don't focus on the hurt as much as the anger? Does that make sense? That is why explaning myself over and over with every new gay topic is frustrating.

Since christianity is the most vocal it gets the most flack. I am aware that sometime I am so ticked off by things said in here that I can sound antichristian but you have to read closer, I am actually not antichristian. If I was I would not have the friends I do.

The 'if you don't believe' thing was just about exclusivity, not sure how to explain that one better. I think religious folks should feel free to marry in a church if that is what they believe. I don't get the 'fund one of their own thing'?

I have been on the recieving end myself for many things. i have taken flack from all sides because i stand up for my beliefs and opinions. yes i get angry and even had to walk away from this thred for a short time in the beginning because of it. anger is natural but i don't think because say men, and how i've ben treated in the past and have seen things from friends that all men are in one catagory.

i was asking what you meant. i thought you meant by "makes those places christian organizations?" meant just that...to make them specific

"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:10

"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body." II Corinthians 4:8-10

It comes with being a Christian, friend.

Oops again. Wrong place but right thread.

I am outta here (REALLY). Have a great night everyone.

Why does it always have to be "either you are with me or you are against me". Is that only a Christian philosophy or is a human flaw?

Why do Christians take the pointing out of the imbalance of power they have been allowed in this country as an attack on them personally?

Can't they step back for a moment and see that people are not telling them they cannot be Christian, people are telling them to stop publically stepping on toes in the name of that said religion.

Christians are not the morality of this country, though they have been led to believe they were, Christians are not the guard to the cookie jar of decadent behavior, they participate in it themselves, Christians are not the rock of decency that holds this country to a certain standard but believe they are, being christian does not make you a better citizen in this country, etc....

Me saying that is not one iota of an attack on a Christian at any level and if you saw it that way, you would be part of the problem here.

ummm read the thread....it's not a christian philosophy. and it happens when ANYONE that feels their beliefs or rights are attacked. read the whole thread. it's not just a christian thing. i have spoken up for generalization of ANY kind. whether or not i agree with the other view point

and i have NEVER said christians were.
