So the sins of the past have to be blamed on me? Wow! Well I guess I alone caused slavery, killed and forced Indians off their land, started the Civil War and other bad things.

Just because I'm a white guy doesn't mean I liked what happened in the past, I'm trying to carve out my own future and make life better for those around me, human and animal.

get over yourself. that is what white people say whenever the subjects of slavery, or indian genocide is brought up. It is a part of history and should be discussed openly, all side heard and if people need to vent let them. Don't take it personally unless you harbor racist feeling I don't see why it would effect anyone any more than discussing any other part of history.

Freedom of choice, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of speech.

It is wrong when one speaks for the many unless by proxy, it is outright tyranny to impose a judgement on anyone based on segmented, sectarial belief.

"Politicly correct" and a slip of the tongue, blur reality. One is a simple mistake, the other is an attempt at mass confusion.

Miss Cal felt a personal "assault" so stated her opinion/answer in the 1st person. A common mistake.

I agree with you in part david, but we are talking a 21 yr old girl, facing 1000's, under bright lights and much pressure..... could any have done better? After the fact it is easy to condemn or find fault. Try standing in her shoes, at that moment, burdened with appeasing EVERYONE, a nation!

Even the politicos can't answer this question to please everyone!

That is exactly why I thought it was an inappropriate question to ask of her. And if the judges didn't rip Perez a new one after the show I would be suprised.

I personally have empathy for our new president as he faces much of the same kind of anxiety from the public, he can't win either way in most cases with so much anger and resentment out there. Opps. Off topic.

The President outright lied to us. Made promises he isn't keeping, or can't keep as he thought. He has now refused to investigate or bring to trial any in the Bush Admin for their crimes, allowing no investigation at all into the unaswered questions.

He does not deserve empathy, only close scrutiny.

Apples and oranges.... and yes, offtopic

Well I should have expected that response, walked right into it. LOL

But never the less I still feel it. I don't want to get more off topic so I will leave it at 'I am not convinced yet that he is a liar'.

a racist is one that "think other's are less due to skin color"???

a racist is simply only one that think another is less because of color???

to think another is less in itself, is the very first thinking that allowed anything to use color, as the "good reason" for ITSELF FIRST THINKING OTHER'S "DIFFERENT" WERE LESS???

it is not only the color of the skin, that can propogate all that "racism" see's as less, than can allow the mouth and hands to perpetuate bias put off into the air of the universe as a "poison", that float thru the air like pollen, and settle upon the head of anything thinking other's are less, and weight the soul low to the ground, in it's own pain and misery, of course, this only come after the thrill of the kill, of finding other human things as less than self, that ONLY AT FIRST, made oneself feel as greater, which indeed is at first elation, but what is elated, that does not become later deflated???

people can "feel the energy" of unequality from anything???

mask it behind kind words, it makes no difference???

the gays that fights the straights can go to far as well, and want to erase all the staights, hating them because they first made them "feel pain"???

the straights that fight the gays, can go to far as well, and want to erase them, as causing all the havoc in the world???

the only narrow line in between that does not create more "hate for all to have to live in, is "freedom for all", or all are just as equal and are born with the right to follow itself, just as self is???

at first, it take the pressure from the outside, to make one have self confidence in itself, as who at some time, did not always wish for approval from the outside, so worry about what all other's think, but do not all learn to follow itself and it's own heart, but then, if it turn this into a distain for what was "opposite itself", and try to "control it", it destroy but itself again, with a new kind of stealing of other's freedom to live and love, and so steal but it's own ability to do the same???

peace

Yes she would have, because you are not allowed to say how you feel in public without "offending" someone". Any one that answered that question anyother way then they was Perez wanted it answered, would have to face the scorn of political correctness that the left seem to have no problem imposing on others. Opression comes in many forms, and political correctness in one that is used freely by those that oppose free speech.

As for the " My country" part, I think all of us have expressed this country as my, at one time or the other, it is part of pride in ones nation. Not that we are perfect by any means, but pride in ones country never used to be a bad thing, and the overwhelming majority of the country still opposes same sex marriages. Don't have to like it, but its true.

lol...

was it pride in country???

or is that but a disguise???

it was "in my country, i believe marriage is between a man and a women"???

this country's pride came from "all as equal"???

so it is THIS EQUAL then that is PRIDE IN COUNTRY???

if there was equal, it would be said, IN OUR GREAT COUNTRY OF AMERICA, ALL ARE FREE TO CHOOSE FOR ITSLEF, BUT I LIKE MEN AND WILL MARRY A MAN???

give me a break man, lol...

I think she just meant "in my world", not so much in my country we can do whatever we want thing.

Because at first she tried to say that be finally her words were

"in my country and in my family I think that marriage should be between a man and a women, that is the way i was raised...."

I know that it is astonishing for some to feelpride in their country since they have no pride in their country, but many people do feel pride in their country. Moral degradation is seen by some as a tarnish mark on our countries history, and it was for many great nations and empires before us. 230 years ago, gay marraige was not an issue buring on the forfront of the public airwaves as it is today, so why would they even think that it was a concern?? You see only what you want to see, not what really is.

Okay...let's look at this again.

You can't win if you don't believe?

How about this...

You can't attend if you don't believe?

Ahhh for the old days...when you couldn't enter if you weren't a white girl! (SARCASM not what I think)

The times they are a changin' eh?

It wasn't so long ago that sports, beauty contests, politics, schools and all sorts of institutions were closed to anyone outside the mainstream.

I find it immensely entertaining that those who now claim to be on Christian higher moral ground are outraged because they are not the exclusive holders of that prized territory they carved out and excluded others from whether it be in a beauty contest, a church, a town square, a television screen...where ever.

Guess what? The world is not full of cookie cutter Bible thumped Stepford wives despite Miss California's best attempt to be one.

Funny you all howling about political correctness silencing other voices when for so many years you were the epitome of suppression and politically correct speech.

Please define "you all" for me. I really haven't seen much of anyone doing that. A couple of course but then there are always a couple.

I've seen a lot of talk about how things are, right or wrong, but only a one or two in actual support of the the ideals' expressed by Miss Ca.
