Topic: Your child is smoking pot

guess what JUST happened....

my niece is 18 and nephew is 15. my nephew has a friend his age. all the friends are friends with my son, niece and nephew. well tonight the boy's dad asked my niece if she would take him on a quick errand since his car wasn't running. after the errand and when she was dropping him at home, he told my niece what the errand was....a pot run. my niece doesn't drink, smoke or do any drugs.

THAT ALONE made me IRATE.

come to find out...he smokes with his 15 yr old son and even shared with my nephew that other day. my nephew was spending the night over there and as SOON as we found out....my brother in law went to get my nephew and drag him back home (they live in the same neighborhood as the friend)

I told my sister, if that was my son....that kid wouldn't be allowed back and the dad would be in jail.

who does this adult think he is...bad enough to smoke with HIS 15 yr old, but to give it to my 15 yr old nephew AND con my niece (who is very naive anyway) into a drug run????

explode explode explode explode

here is an update on this dad that has been smoking pot with his kid since his kid was 13. OH and his house is being watched because he is a known pot dealer that sells to kids as well.

out of the 4 adults living in this house with this kid (all smoke pot)...none have a valid DL. The mom (who doesn't live there) is a crack head so she has no say in this house. but anyway....the dad is apparently on a work release program. He works during the week but serves time on the weekends. the idiot harassed my niece to take him to jail to serve his weekend time (happened last Friday) She told him "ok but after this don't EVER contact me for anything." her dad (who is a big guy) and my 18 yr old son (big guy also) went with them. The moron goes to the jail higher than a kite. You could get a contact high on him alone. He was yelling about how my niece drives the whole way. My son told him if he didn't settle down...he can get out on the side of the road and they would call the cops to pick him up. He spent his weekend time...but hopefully the arrangement will get revoked. He doesn't care about anyone else and does whatever he wants at the cost of anyone around him.

His kid is going down that same road. The dad is the only one out of 4 adults that has a job (which is why they did the work release)

This kid isn't learning anything about respect for the law or people

Keep in mind...this thread is about KIDS...not what adults want to do. Kids have no business with cigarettes, alcohol or pot....PERIOD.

I agree with you Rose, there are so many in similar situations out there, kids being raised in families where the parents are into drugs and bringing up the kids to do the same. I hope your niece stays away from the jerk. Many kids end up in the foster care system because of the drugs too. Sorry, I promised myself I wouldn't come back to this thread, I ticked some people off. But just wanted you to know that I think you are totally correct. Take care. flowerforyou

ive run into alot of people who smoke and let it take over their lives. they spend all their money on good and have nothing to show for it. then there are those who pick up a little here and there, smoke it after they have finished what they had to do that day and pass out.

in the second case its all good IMO but i do believe that bud should be illegal because of how many people waste their time doing drugs and not being productive.

Now I have spent my life wasteful, narrow-minded, and only looking to get high and by.... and it is complete ****. Yes, it is bad. But illegal or not, people will act irrational, just as there are plenty of alcoholics and drunks only living their life based on how full the JD is.
Being illegal does not change this aspect. This is based upon the human mind. I was drinking at age 12, and yet it was illegal to me and continues to be. Marijuana is illegal indefinitely, yet it is just as available as liquor, only difference is the safety in which it is purchased. Think about the courses they teach on alcohol... much more detailed than the courses on other things. Look at Amsterdam... and country that has it almost legalized yet has one of the lowest smoking rates in the world!

TALKIN ABOUT KIDS: If a kid cant have it (easily), then it is cool or desired by most. Given the proper knowledge, respect and regulations to it, I dont think it would be as appealing. Ofcourse we'll never know until we try something different.

i didnt say everyone who smokes wastes their life, i said most do. where do you think the term pothead came from? this thread isnt even about alcohol so im not sure why you brought it up. also if you havent noticed, many stoners end up trying cocaine and other drugs.. that just adds to the problems with trying to legalize marij, especially in America. when you get out in the real world you realize that weed and success dont mix

No. You are wrong, matter of fact there is no statistic as to 'most waste their life'...well, aside from the madeup crap all over the news. No, many stoners do not end up trying cocaine, again, madeup crap, there is no statistic to that...as a matter of fact going off statistics, most people that try pot...stick to pot.

This is the reason I left this thread, you people are better at making crap up then actually coming up with facts...

What would I do? Considering my father was the first person who exposed me to pot I would do the exact opposite. I would relay my experiences with it and how it mildly addicting and I don't want to hear that its not believe me I know. The trouble is if your already predisposed to addiction through heredity than you will become a chronic smoker. It will also lead to more stronger stuff due to the fact of diminishing returns. Its effect lessens after repeated use so you end up looking for something stronger. I moved back and forth between two states as a teenager and I saw the same thing. It starts with pot then it moves on to something stronger in the end. Not everybody is prediposed to addiction but with my family backround it would greatly concern me. I believe it robs some people of motivation and as someone who did use and then quit I prefer the later. Why shackle yourself with something when the freedom of not having to have it or needing it can so much more rewarding. That's my two cents.

smokin You just found out that your child is smoking pot.smokin

what What do you do?what

Be glad they're not smoking crack or cigs (pot is a relatively harmless drug, especially compared to mainstream drugs), teach them about why the drug laws are immoral and unethical, and encourage him to wait till he's older to smoke (and do so where he can't get caught). Also, refer him to a good book on the subject.

If the kid is under 21, stash it till he's older. If not, let him keep it. Either way, explain the stupidity of drug laws and the corruption of government drug regulation. Leave open a channel of communication about the subject.
