Keef...you do bring up very good points. not sure how old you are or if you have kids...but you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and you use your head for more than a hat rack (as grandpa used to say lol)

you brought up 16 yr olds. my thought on why 18 is a good age to be legally an adult is this....18 is the average age when kids graduate from High school. from there they can get a ful time job or continue with their education. 16 yr olds get to drive. most 16 yr olds don't have the experience driving as most adults. and I couldn't imagine keeping a 16 yr old in school if they are considered adults. IMO things would be worse. I mean there are adults that don't act like adults...a 16 yr old surely wouldn't. at 18...hopefully they have finished high school or gotten a GED.

being a parent is fun and games and shouldn't be. I wasn't a perfect parent but I have my son's respect. we have done things together for fun when he was growing up and we now shoot pool together. But I don't think he'd be the man he is today if me and his dad were friends with him first. he knew the boundaries and knew there were consequences if he crossed them. just like as an adult...there are laws...and consequences for breaking them. and I know you don't like this argument Keef lol...but what message does it send to kids if the parents basically say you can pick and chose what laws you like and don't like.? there are laws I don't like but I know if I break them, I face the consequences. and until the laws are changed...all people can do is fight to change them but will face the consequences if they are broken until they are changed. Adam is going to be a cop...and yes, it would probably be easier to deal with the real problems vs pot smokers. but they are doing their jobs with the laws we have now.

and as far as the "it's not as bad as" cop out...it may not be as bad, but it's not as good either.

I am twenty, i have 2 baby girls ages 3 & 1, and like i said, my father being my friend was not a good thing overall. I agree with everything you post here. It is our responsibility to look after our kids to prevent them from running into trouble and harm. I agree with 18, very much so. My only point of 16 is there are many people who have a much higher mental state, now that doesnt mean they should smoke or have more allowance, but point being age doesnt always determine actions, responsibilities, etc. I was living on my own at 16 and my girlfriend got pregnant and moved away. I was not ready to be an adult, but i was much more than some. If not for weed, i might have lost my mind. Now, it was many mistakes and bad choices that led me there, and definitely my lack of experience led me to a narrow vision. I WOULD say pick and choose depending on what feels right in a person's heart, but that also doesnt mean disobey them. I believe if you feel something is not right, you stand up for it and try to make a change, so i volunteer myself for pro-cannibus legislation, etc. I intend on being parent first, friend second. My mother was, and although I grew up very bitter with her, I have a tremendous respect for her I dont share for my father. My kids are too young for me to really say what i would do if... I support the plant and its use, but yeah, i dont know if i'd be comfortable with my girls using it before they have everything they need to be strong people without any substances of any kind. Again, there is nothing I disagree with you here, my issues are HOW they are approached, what truth and fact is known, and what is actually done about it.

unfortunately Keef hon...we can't do anything about how people think. there are people in their late 50's that I wouldn't consider adult. but it's more a of a legal issue. at 18....people can be held more accountable for their actions because they are generally out of school...IMO.

I really dont know the abb. terms here on this site... IMO for example. But as I stated below, I agree. I completely agree, and it took a lot of mistakes and going down a path I would not wish upon anybody, especially kids. I dont think kids smoking, drinking among with many others is good. There are plenty of people who dont act their age, and i would never want to force my opinion on anyone. I just hope to show that there is more than one side to everything, and even things we dont like, we shouldnt rule out any other possibilities.

AGREE AGREE AGREE. You are a good woman with the right concepts. Let us have peace now. Never was an arguement, btw, just a conversation of exploration and verification... its very easy to misplace emotion or even intentions behind bland text. It is because of this... peoples individuality that we need to have a choice for ourselves, but we need to earn it by growing up properly and learning responsibility one step at a time. I think we are on the same page, maybe different language.

Heh ok. My name's Collin. Keef is slang for marijuana that has been cut into a very small size, resembling powder. Fun fact of the day. I feel bad you keep using that word ohwell I am glad we clarified this all up because I never wanted to come off like I support it for kids. I support the plant and its many many possibilities in an equal manner to everything in life. It could be worse, i agree with that statement, but that does not make it ok or safe. Very glad to have had this moment of clarity.

I don't think I ever got that impression that you did advocate it for kids. Like I said...what an adult does (as long as it doesn't effect others) is on them.

didn't know about Keef lol...no biggie though.

smokin You just found out that your child is smoking pot.smokin

what What do you do?what

About 12 years ago my son (who is grown up now) borrowed his step dads coat, he let him. So after the boy leaves the house my ex tells me his stash and piece are in the pocket...oh crap!
So my boy comes home and thats when I found out he was smoking pot. He smoked it and sold his step dad piece cause he was mad at him. The ex wanted a punishment... I wasn't sure for what. Smoking pot, smoking his step dads pot, selling his piece.. or all of the above.
Weird circumstance, different one.
The boy is awesome and the ex well, hes the ex. All is well:smile:

ive run into alot of people who smoke and let it take over their lives. they spend all their money on good and have nothing to show for it. then there are those who pick up a little here and there, smoke it after they have finished what they had to do that day and pass out.

in the second case its all good IMO but i do believe that bud should be illegal because of how many people waste their time doing drugs and not being productive.

Now I have spent my life wasteful, narrow-minded, and only looking to get high and by.... and it is complete ****. Yes, it is bad. But illegal or not, people will act irrational, just as there are plenty of alcoholics and drunks only living their life based on how full the JD is.
Being illegal does not change this aspect. This is based upon the human mind. I was drinking at age 12, and yet it was illegal to me and continues to be. Marijuana is illegal indefinitely, yet it is just as available as liquor, only difference is the safety in which it is purchased. Think about the courses they teach on alcohol... much more detailed than the courses on other things. Look at Amsterdam... and country that has it almost legalized yet has one of the lowest smoking rates in the world!

TALKIN ABOUT KIDS: If a kid cant have it (easily), then it is cool or desired by most. Given the proper knowledge, respect and regulations to it, I dont think it would be as appealing. Ofcourse we'll never know until we try something different.
