ive vowed to stop drinkg and smoking meth but i still smoke a little bit of pot .. and i relapsed on the booze a few days ago... is the pot you think goin gto help trigger me... i dont go to AA but i go to something called smart recovery. and i have not told them about the pot but its for drinking which i told them tonight that i had a four pack about three days ago. anyways what is your guys thought on the weed Since I go to A.A. and N.A. because I am both an addict and an alcoholic I believe in absolute abstinence from all mind controlling substances. There was a time when I enjoyed smoking a big jay and drinking alcohol even but it was like the stuff turned on me. I got where I got the thousand forms of fear whether real or imagined mentioned in the Big Book. The absolute abstinence helped me in my spiritual program. Using my higher power whom I choose to call God is a better crutch for me. Today, God is the answer to my problems instead of alcohol and drugs. I get a better high and I don't feel guilty or paranoid after taking a big toke or drink off God. Really works better in my church life, too because of Jesus and the passover. Jesus said it was okay to eat of his flesh and drink of his blood. |

if any of you in the program can ever find one of "buttermilk" smiths tapes you need to listen to his story he died about 10 years ago but he had been to meetings all over the country he touched so many lives with his story of recovery we new him very well and when it was time for his funeral there were cars for blocks and from all over the country
if any of you have a regular meeting they can probably find one of his tapes or i might be able to find one my dad has and make copies |

Would love to hear his story especially on tape. I have met so many friends of Dr. Bob and Bill W. There was a place I found once online where you could hear Bill W.'s voice. We are fixing to have the Springtime in the Ozarks convention in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Recovery is just plain awesome.

Thanx. Well...my ride cancelled so...no meeting tonite. I attended an area 26 conference here in Lexington Ky a couple weeks ago that was very interesting. I got to see first-hand what goes on behind the scenes of AA. It's much more involved than I imagined. Anybody here in KY?

Congratulations on the 30 days. I got called into work and had to call another member to open up for me. He sent another member to fetch the key while I working at the nursing home. The other member was wanting to start a Tuesday's group and even said he would be responsible for that day. So we might be having a Tuesday and a Friday night meeting both. Our sister group in a close town nearby has a Monday night step study so we were discussing a Big Book meeting to go with their step study on Mondays. The sister group meets on Thursday night, too so that will be 4 meetings a week within close distance. We are getting more members coming in from the treatment center that isn't too far away so that should bring up membership.

weeks ago that was very interesting. I got to see first-hand what goes on behind the scenes of AA. It's much more involved than I imagined. Anybody here in KY? WTG on 30 days. I was in a meeting in KY enroute to SC a couple months back. That makes 13 states counting insanity that I've been to meetings in and one other country. It's probably the most fun to be a visitor especially for the different stories. I just found out that someone I knew when I was in California died recently with 43 years sober. |

I had a hunch that yesterday someone who works for me relapsed and was talking with the woman who works for me and said, "I don't think I can have ****** working for me because I think he relapsed." I have to respect his honesty with me though. Within minutes of talking to her about the situation, he called and fessed up, knowing there would be consequences. The consequences wont be worse than last time and I told him I respected him being honest with me about it, and that I knew anyway without anyone telling me. "How?" His pattern of behavior changed. What sucks about this is that at least for 2 months, I'm going to have to do the machinist work that I was deligating to him.
What didn't suck was that it only took him 24 hours to get honest. The last time took him 2 weeks, and a 6 week stay in jail. hALt (angry lonely) nailed him and it was starting to become obvious to me to the point of just telling him, "You're heading into dangerous territory", before he actually relapsed. I suggested that he do more work on his inventory on relationships and resentments and to get a newcomer chip. Here's hoping he'll get to the newcomer meeting tonight. |
