America the land of the once free is now harldly a place worth defending.
We have waged war on human rights for ten years in places stretching from Abu Ghraib to Guantanamo Bay in the course of hunting him down. America is a state that tortures human beings. America can wage war costing trillions while millions are unemployed and without basic healthcare. We get groped when we fly. So now we have finaly got him, have gas prices dropped? Are the troops comeing home and can we now spend our tax money at home repairing our crumbling economy? All that silly flagwaving, for what? This could have meant something if it happened 10 years ago. Before we bankrupted our country and solidified opposition to the US. |

You are all going to have a long hard fight to find your way out of the mess your country is in.
But you have a great proud country that has always stood tall, yep it seems like your government has just about dragged the average Joe into the dirt and trodden on him, but Hey you are the backbone of America so as long as the people are prepared to keep going, your country will always be worth defending.. Who knows what will happen tommorrow, |

Power to the people.
Don't listen to the news, its depressing anyway and most of it is propaganda. Truth is, the politicians need us more than we need them. |

Actually for Americans the death of bin laden has made the world a worse place then before.
It is like the Hatfields and McCoys, it is now just their turn to strike. |

If this country is not worth defending - Which country do you want to run our government??? Someone will always be in control. Who do you want? Saudi Arabia??? Iraq??? Pakistan???? Pick one... I know - Palestine After all we are picking on them through Israel, right? |

the death of bin laden has made the world a worse place then before. I'm not so sure. All the Mideast scholars say that Al quida is actually down to a few hundred. The remaining terrorists are not well organized and tend to be more based in tribal cultures. There will surely be retaliation, but the movement, I think, may be in the process of disintegrating.

Vivian, I didn't expect you to be so mean . . . well, maybe it's not so surprising. Mean? What did I say that was mean? It is a free country...still... anyone may leave at any time if they don't like it here....and it's not surprising that you took it as mean. |

Yeah, Thats's what I have a problem with. Your statement strikes me as a variant on "My country, right or wrong", and "love it or Leave it". These mottos are intrinsically mean.

Vivian, I didn't expect you to be so mean . . . well, maybe it's not so surprising. Listen here Mister...Vivian does not have a mean bone in her body. She is a proud American and will not stand to hear country bashed. Whats wrong with that? |

Actually for Americans the death of bin laden has made the world a worse place then before. It is like the Hatfields and McCoys, it is now just their turn to strike. I wonder, Dragoness.... About a lot of things...I ponder...strategise...consider.. I feel that there has been so much irrepairable damage done to your collective ego, (as a Nation)...and yes, I am generalising...your economy, your politics, your military, your people... There's an unpleasant taste in many people's mouths, an unsettled and disturbed feeling when veiwing the whole thing from go to whoa...almost ten years to roll through, like a slide show... I am going to don my flak jacket and hide all the soapboxes with my next comment... You know what this reminds me of? America's moment of being dragged into the second world war....Pearl Harbour...to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 9/11...to today... No condemnation of actions...(I'll keep them private)....simply the similarities of actions, of perspectives. It all seems quite extreme in response to initial acts. |

Thank you Betts...but like Moe said...they don't care for anyones opinion but their own liberal thinking...now if they lived somewhere else...maybe they wouldn't have the freedom to speak their minds on a public forum...so maybe they actually do like living in America. Again..JMO |
