America the land of the once free is now harldly a place worth defending.

We have waged war on human rights for ten years in places stretching from Abu Ghraib to Guantanamo Bay in the course of hunting him down.

America is a state that tortures human beings.

America can wage war costing trillions while millions are unemployed and without basic healthcare.

We get groped when we fly.

So now we have finaly got him, have gas prices dropped?

Are the troops comeing home and can we now spend our tax money at home repairing our crumbling economy?

All that silly flagwaving, for what? This could have meant something if it happened 10 years ago.

Before we bankrupted our country and solidified opposition to the US.

Indeed. His stated goal was to bankrupt the US in every way. He won. And he died years ago. Quite an accomplishment, I'd say.

I get tired of people saying Christians killed people because they were not Christian. That is patently not true. Please look at what the Crusades were about before making this kind of statement.

Christians will accept other people with different faith. Your faith is a matter of personal choice.

Islam will not allow you to have a different faith. There stated goal is global domination. Islam or death.

More often than not, even though the disparity between these two is Obvious, some people will still claim Christianity is more dangerous than Islam.

I don't get it.

Actually for Americans the death of bin laden has made the world a worse place then before.

It is like the Hatfields and McCoys, it is now just their turn to strike.

This is hogwash. It is not the Hatfields and McCoys. It is religious
warfare and defense of freedom. Bin Laden was not killed for revenge.
Bin Laden was killed solely to further cripple his genocidal religiously
bigoted and inhumane terrorist organization Al-Qaida.

And the dismantling of such an organization is a worthy, noble
and just cause.

drinker

Those who would let Bin Laden live and flourish should live in a
repressive misogynistic society for a while.

They believe their cause is just as righteous as you feel ours is.

Making us on level ground with righteousness..

Making the analogy I have given a fair and accurate analysis.

JUST LIKE A CHESS GAME, THE BELL HAS BEEN RUNG, NOW IT IS THEIR TURN TO RETALIATE. Check mate doesn't happen in this world until we are all dead.

laugh

Oh that's priceless. Of course the insane think you are the one
who is nuts. It doesn't make the sky green!

laugh

The terrorists *think* their cause of Islamacizing the world is
just...and it is OK to slaughter innocent people just because they
aren't Muslim!

laugh

Hitler thought he should exterminate everyone who wasn't part of
"the master race"...

laugh

This is not Tit-for-Tat. These are not EQUIVALENT choices!!

laugh

There is an obvious difference between the cause of Al-Qaida
and the cause of religious freedom and tolerance.

So Choose. Be for the religious extremist who kills people based on
their religious beliefs, Be for religious tolerance where people
fight for the right to worship as they please or be indifferent.

These are your only choices.

But you must recognize these are NOT equivalent choices and that
choosing to be indifferent is to condone the terrorist behavior.

C'mon Now!

There is religious tolerance in the good old USA. Our country was
founded on it by people trying to escape religious persecution.

The point is that religious war is wrong and a perversion of religion.

The current religious war which is going on at this time in 2011
is being waged by Al-Qaida and until recently was directed at the
top by Osama bin Laden. It is fabulous that the US troops have
further compromised their immoral and criminal organization and
have killed their supreme leader.

Those who argue that we are on the same moral ground as Al-Qaida
in terms of righteousness share the viewpoint of Hitler, Stalin,
the Crusaders, Hezbollah, Hamas and Al-Qaida.

whoa

laugh

Killing people because they are not the same religion or who are
not religious enough is wrong. However, if we don't want to live
with such nutball terrorists bombing our buses, subways, airplanes and
workplaces then we are forced to combat them - and deadly force
is required and necessary to combat them.

This cause is just. Free at last.

Jesse, everybody on this board knows that you are have the best heart and the strength of your convictions. Your comments seem judgmental at times. That's not a criticism. We all judge. We decide who we want to endear ourselves to, we decide who we don't mind alienating. There's always time to back-track. You may be an Aussie, but in the broader view, we are all Aussie-Americans.

We take these arguments so personally.

Thankyou Artlo....and I agree, quite often I do make judgement calls...I am judging...weighing, measuring, and as we all do, from our own perceptions.

I wonder how it would be for a couple of posters from here to visit an Australian site...where the predominant posters are Australian....and enter into the frey..what that would look like...then those couple of US posters stay on that site for a few years...

I wonder if they would feel as lost as I do at times....when attempting to make comparisons is virtually impossible...as my point of reference is quite 'foreign' to the topics I read.

and just to let you know....I took no offence whatsover from your post...if anything I appreciated your honesty.

Thank you, Jesse, for understanding my position.

There is one issue on which I agree with the right-wingers. That is a condemnation of political correctness. America has become a dramatically polarized country. IMO, one of the reasons that has happened is because of the suppression of free expression. We must not be rude. We must not say. "I think you are wrong" Else, Somebody with the majority opinion will have his feelings hurt. Small-mindedness and exclusivism are allowed to fester and grow, because there is no push-back.

I want to know who the racists are. I want to know who the xenophobes are. I want the freedom to tell them. "you are wrong" and I don't want to have to couch it in oh-so polite language so that nobody gets hurt feelings.

BTW, somebody asked why have these exchanges on a dating site? For whoever that was, why have a politics forum on a dating site? Why go to a politics thread if your only interest is sex and flirting and trying to be popular? I think Mingle provides a way to alter your settings to exclude certain forums from your field of vision. You came to the politics forum for reasons of your own. Only you can answer that.

That is completely different. The Spaniards were Spaniards. They were not out to conquer the world in the name of Christianity. That wasn't the reason they killed them. Pure and simple greed. That was it.

Where in The Bible does Jesus tell His followers to conquer the world and kill those that don't believe???? WTF...

This is so simple. I really have no idea why anyone even tries to say Christianity is even similar.

Islam's stated purpose is to conquer the world and kill infidels.

Still would like someone to prove Christianity believes the same thing. Saying Spain killed them for gold isn't even close...

The comment has as much to do with "World Domination" as anything else. So why did the Spaniards kill the Mayans and the Incas?

The Incans and Mayans lived by a 'god tax' (part of their beliefs).

The Christians refused to give up even on of their people to die at the temple.

Instead both chose to kill.

As far as the OP.

Osama Bin (who thought he could defeat a Nation under God).

Was the victim of a Vain Imagining...

He was focused on winning and so turned his vision to the Beast of War (a tool of man) rather than to the Glory of Mercy and the Beauty of God.

And God has gathered this blind warrior to him.

For vision to be true it must be fixed upon that which is of Glory.

and God is the Merciful One.

Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.

What rubbish these christians bring.

The catholick church has killed millions.

Jerusalem was conquered on 7/15/1099 and 60,000 non-Christians were killed. Bodies were slit open to search for gold coins they might have swallowed. Jews who had taken refuge in the city's synagogue were burned alive, thousands of muslims were chopped to death in Al-Aqsa mosque. According to the Archbishop of Tyre, who was an eye-witness, "It was impossible to look upon the vast numbers of the slain without horror; everywhere lay fragments of human bodies, and the very ground was covered with the blood of the slain. It was not alone the spectacle of headless bodies and mutilated limbs strewn in all directions that roused the horror of all who looked upon them. Still more dreadful was it to gaze upon the victors themselves, dripping with blood from head to foot, an ominous sight which brought terror to all who met them. It is reported that within the Temple enclosure alone about ten thousand infidels perished." Christian chronicler Eckehard of Aura noted that "even the following summer in all of Palestine the air was polluted by the stench of decomposition".

"Entering the city [Jerusalem, July 15, 1099], our pilgrims pursued and killed Saracens up to the Temple of Solomon, in which they had assembled and where they gave battle to us furiously for the whole day so that their blood flowed throughout the whole temple. Finally, having overcome the pagans, our knights seized a great number of men and women, and the killed whom they wished and whom they wished they let live.... Then, rejoicing and weeping from extreme joy, our men went to worship at the sepulchre of jour Saviour Jesus and thus fulfilled their pledge to Him.... They also ordered that all the Saracen dead should be thrown out of the city because of the extreme stench, for the city was almost full of their cadavers. The live Saracens dragged the dead out before the gates and made piles of them, like houses. No one has ever heard of or seen such a slaughter of pagan peoples since pyres were made of them like boundary marks, and no one except God knows their number."
