Topic: Osama Bin Laden WON

Osama bin Laden lost. He lost the battle for propaganda, he lost his
ability to effectively train, recruit and carry out terrorist actions,
he lost his freedom of movement, he lost followers. Osama lost his
ability to get his message out at will, he lost the respect of the
Islamic community, he lost his connection to his family and country,
he lost his life....He lost his biological life a few days ago but
he lost his ideological life and freedom years ago. If only all such
terrorists be consigned to the cess pools of history.

If only...
If only Umerika didnt bankrupt itself moraly and financialy.

If only we didnt torture.

If only we didnt get groped everytime we got on a plane.

If only we had habius corupus.

If only the government hadnt illegally spied and eavesdropped on thousands of American citizens.

The war continues on the constitution and most of the rubes in america are cheerleading.

That's your whiny view of America,not everyone's.

"Let's not interrogate this man, the bomb he placed will probably kill hundreds of innocents, but not violating his rights is more important!" Give me a break. What kind of logic is that?

"Today 4 airliners were blown out of the sky due to various strategically placed suicide bombs. But that pales in comparison to being groped as you enter a plane." Get real, no one makes you fly. If you don't like the safety procedures....drive don't fly.

"In today's news, hundreds of thousands of prisoners (mostly murderers, rapist and child molesters) were released due to writ of habeas corpus. Simply because the court system was too overwhelmed and bogged down with the millions of claims that they were wrongly detained. The US taxes were going to rise %15 to help pay for all of this free legal service." Have you ever worked in the courts and know how inane this is? You really have no idea how it works, you just are complaining to complain.

"308 million people in the US in 2010 and thousands were illegally spied on." Less than 1%. But what constitutes illegal to you certainly must constitute illegal to others.

Your first complaint was saved for last "If only Umerika didnt bankrupt itself moraly and financialy."

Well you can thank the past and present government for the financial part. Truthfully, you are a prophet of doom. You have not once, since I have been at Mingle ever heard you say anything nice to anyone. You call everyone a "rube" and say that we are all bankrupt morally. I can tell you that neither me or my friends are not. But then again we don't sit around and whine about things we can't control either.

it's not a big deal if you have nothing to hide...our right to privacy means little if the US or the world is wiped out by something that could have been prevented, like a plot to release a biological weapon or something...

Yes it is.

I don't support Big Brother, cameras on every street corner, bugs and cameras in our homes etc.

That gives absolute power to a corrupt government.

Now if the government was pure as the driven snow you are right, but its not.

The evil empire is in charge.

(And they have sold out to aliens who want to eat our children.)

It's not paranoid if they really are watching or out to get you.

But I'll be watching.

I'll get a job with Big Brother. If they want to watch everyone they will need a ton of people to do the watching.

jobs for everyone... the watched and the watchers.

Nah. We watch and listen with software. So much more efficient.
The machines never get tired or bored. Plus then we have access
to all the criminal records, phone and social security numbers
and credit ratings...

Ah, the "logic" of the Police Statist. The reason it's an issue is that if the "authorities" can spy on you, you are not a citizen-you are a serf. Read up on the Cheka (the Soviet secret police). That's where the slippery slope of Surveilance Statism leads to.

i see both sides of it, because i used to think like that... but it really doesn't bother me anymore, because i'm not a criminal... but like i said, it is worth it even if one plot is found, the life they might be saving could yours or someone you care about.

No its not worth it for these reasons.

People who "used to think that way" but have changed their minds (You for example.)have undoubtedly changed their minds because of what is called the "problem solution method" of government.

The government needs more power to stay in power so they create or find and exploit a problem that they can solve to show the people how much they are needed. They create terrorism. They exploit it in the news and they do their best to terrorize the people with it so they can get the people to give up their rights and freedoms in exchange for feeling safe and secure. The patriot act is a perfect example.

If you want a great education about how governments operate this system read "The report from Iron Mountain." (It doesn't matter who claims to have written it.)

So the powers that own governments are actually the same powers who support and exploit terrorism.

This is obvious to anyone who is really paying attention.

Secondly, You say it doesn't bother you because you are not a criminal.

If you were to discover, much to your horror, that the government was corrupt, and you objected to it, they would make you into a criminal.

Then, you would be subject to all the laws you helped to pass and you would have no rights or privacy. You would be screwed.

You don't want to give your life over to government.

Ultimate power will eventually become ultimately corrupt.

And they will have total control over everyone because you, out of fear, exchanged your rights and your privacy so you could feel safer. You let them terrorize you with their fear mongering.

you seem to think i just fell off the turnip truck yesterday... if you have read any of my posts on here, you would notice that i think their is no one in the government that is fair and honest.

so why would they government want to turn me into a criminal? where i fit into their agenda? sure, there are plenty of "innocents" in prison, but that is their fate, not mine. i'm just not going to live out a paranoid fantasy thinking the government is out to get me. but if you want to, more power to ya, i understand, like i said i thought like that once...

This is true.
They have been terrorized and brain washed. They look to their government and yell "save us from those awful terrorists!" And they give away all their power.

Next it will be: "Save us from those invading aliens!" ... and they will turn over the last of their personal power.

There are many reasons they might want to make you into a criminal. You might have something they want. (land) You might know something you shouldn't know or you may see something you shouldn't have seen. You might one day become a liability to them. Innocent or not, they can make you into a criminal or cause you to commit suicide. Yes, I know that sounds "paranoid" but it has happened.

If you know that no one in the government is fair and honest, why would you trust them and hand them your power and allow them to spy on anyone they want? Is it because you think they need that power to find the evil terrorists?

(They sure took their time finding Bin Laden)

I don't live in a paranoid fantasy, but I do know what is going on and what they are capable of. I'm not stupid enough to trust them blindly like so many people do. I just try to know what to be on the look out for.
