I'm proud to be an American
well, that's a multi-layered bumper sticker. Is pride really appropriate? Did you have to achieve some meritorious achievement to become an American? Does being an American render you to be a superior person? Do you believe that just by being an American, you should be entitled to some sort of award?

I don't feel proud to be an American. I feel very fortunate.

That still doesn't address the ""love it or leave it" and "My cpuntry, right or wrong" thing.

It's not hard to get a passport...pick any country you would like to live in. Need help packing?

Vivian, I didn't expect you to be so mean . . . well, maybe it's not so surprising.

Listen her Mister...Vivian does not have a mean bone in her body.
She is a proud American and will not stand to hear country bashed. Whats wrong with that?

Thank you Betts...but like Moe said...they don't care for anyones opinion but their own liberal thinking...now if they lived somewhere else...maybe they wouldn't have the freedom to speak their minds on a public forum...so maybe they actually do like living in America. Again..JMO

and you never said love it or leave it either... another lib way of thinking, you write one thing, and in their eyes it is something completely different... i totally agree with you, if someone is not happy here, it is a big world, find a place that will make you happy...

In the land of the free, there can be no telling of others to leave or you are denying them some of their freedoms.

So is it really free in this country or are ya'll just joshin folks into believing it is really free here?

Listen here Mister..
Well, Missy, The statement says to me, "If you don't love America just exactly the the way it is, just go somewhere that you like it better". That's mean. Am I interpreting that incorrectly?

A superior person? To whom? A person that thinks one has to have an award for being proud of their country? To one that only wants what that country can give them, and still back stab our Flag? To one whom has forgotten 9-11? Forgotten that he brought the fight to our shores?
Forgotten the thousands that were murdered that day? Should I forget that my father served in the war, and my grandfather before him? My husband and my son? You're darned right I'm fortunate to be proud to be an American...and yes, Love it or leave it...We're not always right...but we do stand for what we believe.

Wow!

Are you always this horrible to your own countrymen....some of the people who are also 'free'...?

Do you people do this on the streets to each other?

Or are these your secret thoughts, transmuted electronically?

Wow....and I had hoped the rest of the world was wrong...but then...we don't really exist, do we?

see, you didn't read it either... a suggestion is not a demand... and she doesn't have the right to not want to hear that? freedom is more than one way, just because he has the freedom to say that, then doesn't she have the freedom to say what she feels?

We've all been joshed into thinking we have real freedom at all, we are only as free as we are allowed to be by our government masters.

Hell part of loving this country is the fact that I know it isn't perfect and has faults that I need to help fix.

So bytchin about the country is part of the patriotism to a better country, I would think.

Freedom - this is what freedom means to me:

speech from "The American President" with Michael Douglas

America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You've gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say, "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours." You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms.

Then you can stand up and sing about the land of the free.

So you are completely happy and content with every single thing in your country?

Blissed out by every single scrap of anything that happens in your country?

Fascinating.

I'm sorry that you feel this way..we have a great country..and others do exist..No, I do not believe that we talk to each other on the streets this way...but we are allowed the freedom of speech...or we wouldn't be having this discussion now. I too wish that we could all get along and not feel the need to belittle anthers opinion.

Amen, WE ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT

LETS SAY IT AGAIN SO WE UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER WELL

WEEEE ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT!!!!!!

That is the operative phrase.

So since we know that of each other what gives us the right to tell others to leave for what they say??

And who is the one who only wants what the country can give them?slaphead

See some people are just too stuck on the false idea of all the free loaders. slaphead How do we identify a free loader? I will bet the response in the mind will be that they aren't white...lol

It will be some of the good ole taught prejudice showing it's ugly face yet again.

White supremacists love to tell us how the non whites are living off the government dolewhoa whoa

Love it or leave it doesn't work in a FREE COUNTRY so that philosophy needs to be taken to a communist country where it belongs.

Vivian is about the least mean person in the world. To interpret her comments as mean shows a lack of understanding or a streak of "meanness".
