Mexicos laws on immigration

Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:

• Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigrationauthorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article73)

• A National Population Registry keeps track of “every single individual whocomprises the population of the country,” and verifies each individual’s identity.(Articles 85 and 86)

• A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91).

Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may beimprisoned:
• Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article19)

• Foreigners who sign government documents “with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses” are subject to fine and imprisonment.(Article 116)

Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:

• Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)

• Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the countrywithout authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)

• Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121).

Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico – such as working with out a permit – can also be imprisoned.

Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says

• “A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally.” (Article 123)

• Foreigners with legal immigration problems may be deported from Mexico instead of being imprisoned. (Article 125)

• Foreigners who “attempt against national sovereignty or security” will be deported. (Article 126)

Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:

• A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127)

• Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132)

Instead of truly making a dent in the problem, it will only further divide the country along ethnic lines.....while big corporations , banks, and private citizens continue to exploit cheap labor and easy money. Immigration laws need to START from the top, not at the end. THe laws we have would work well enough if they were ENFORCED. If AZ truly wanted to make a difference they would make their primary objective shutting down those who are soliciting and enjoying the labor and money of illegal immigrants. Get rid of the motivation to commit the crime,, the criminals will decrease in number. Instead of making it some ETHNIC war against one group of people.

There's no reason Az. can't do both. Put the fear of God in the employers and the Illegal.
We all know big business has a lot of politicians in their pockets.

There is a lot of Mexico that is beautiful and the people are tranquil and good people.

In the interior, Mexico City, Durango, Monterrey, Chihuahua and other big cities are dangerous. Most all cities where there are border crossings are hazardous.

According to international law, we are supposed to have Immigration laws in line with the countries that border the US.

I know Mexico has a big problem with people jumping their border coming from South America heading towards America.I know the people in Mexico often beat and muder those illegals.I find it funny how Mexico has this double standard that they can come to the United states illegally and that is just fine. But those coming from South America are thrown in jail, fined, and deported.Perhaps Mexico can have "open borders" with South america(which is worse off than Mexico)and let millions come to Mexico to live illegally.

A excellent documentary on how Mexico does with this issue called "Wetback: The Undocumented Documentary".I coudln't find a full movie online but I found a small clip for reference.

Polly wanna cracker??

Sheesh. You sound like a trained parrot.

Could you POSSIBLY come up with a coherent thought on this subject rather than just repeating the same drivel over and over??

We get it, already. You think it's " Racist ".

You have YET to provide your reasoning for feeling that way though.

The funny thing is is that she doesn't know what the bill says. There are a lot of misconceptions about it. It strictly forbids racial profiling and says so right in plain English, a persons immigration status won't come into play unless your pulled over or do something to attract the attention of police number one. number two they cannot ask your status unless you cannot provide ID or if your ID looks suspicious for example it says your Don Willard and you cant speak English, that would be a pretty good indicator.

One of these days a illegal immigrant is going to bring the Bubonic plague into America and wipe out half of it's population.Part of becoming a citizen legally is medical tests to make sure you are not carrying some dangerous virus into our country.Another is a back ground check to make sure you are not a dangerous criminal wanted for a killing spree from the country you came from.

If I am a racist for demanding these simple things so be it.Liberal thinking usually ends up as nothing less than a massive failure on every level.Your leader Barrak is driving the bus with everyone in it right off a cliff into oblivion. To this day I have not heard of anything positive coming out of these illegals.Besides paying taxes what else have they done? They have been coming here for hundreds of years yet what are they famous for?Have they made companies that are important to our society?Have they invented anything? It would be nice to read a newstory once in a while of a illegal here in America that actually accomplished something other than just working and complaining about laws and regulations.

I will give them credit for the Cinco de mayo day.Although that isn't American related or started in America.

They passed the bill. Let's see if it works. If parts of it don't work then they can ammend the bill.

Sound familiar? That's what they did with the healthcare bill.

you make a good point , one I hadnt thought of, the bill covers alot of specific TYPES of violations but there is one section which is vague and I hope they do amend it or else I foresee alot of wasted money going towards civil lawsuits,,...

I pegged you wrong.

I thought you was the type to blindly follow Bush and Hussein with their amnesty program.

Now, I see you are willing to risk being viewed as a racist and tagged by Homeland Security as a homegrown terrorist for standing up against them and supporting legal immigration.

Kudos, kiddo!drinker

I've never said otherwise. I just dont want to see this become a place where people are assumed guilty until proven innocent or a police state where we all have to carry PROOF of our identity wherever we go(jogging, walking in the park, going out to the mailbox....etc..)

The 'third rail' here that no one dares address is that the OVERRIDING reason the Left hates this law is that it will ALSO lead to producing PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION at the VOTING BOOTH. This is NOT about 'street stops'. This is ultimately about preventing VOTE FRAUD. That's the dirty little secret the Communist Left doesn't want to talk about. Their agenda might, on its own, win, at best, 30% of the vote. THAT won't get 'em into power. BUT, if they can STEAL the election using ILLEGALS and NON-citizens who can 'vote early and vote often', we can see the result of that effort sitting in the 'big boy' chair wearing his short pants today ... THAT's why the Left opposes Arizona's law. THEY know what's at stake here - they don't like it 'cuz it will remove them from power. Word up, G ...

Again HERE HERE!drinker

The DNC has broken a host of laws and since they entertain such levels of unprecedented power they have been twisting the rules to gain votes. They fight viciously against Gerrymandering. They fight any and all voter reforms. They pull **** to buy sympathy votes and will use a hot issue to hit their agendas for acting until they get the votes they need and then drop a hoard of riders on in the law they want to get past so they can dump sneaky stuff on us from behind the scenes. The democratic party is nothing but a pack of power mongering liars and criminals bent on making this nation serve them! Not us.

Oh you keep saying that! Can you qualify this belief with more than a fallacious and repetitiously trite comment.

So what this is America. The gentleman presented Mexico's immigration policies. Your belief is in itself Biased and Bigoted. We are supposed to treat others with respect when we face WORST treatment at other nations' hands?

You don't travel much do you? Canada doesn't put up with half the crap we do. Canada may be having economic hard times too but they have not descended into gang violence and utter lawlessness over it. Our boarder with them is more secure than the one with Mexico who is a known belligerent nation. I can go anywhere in Canada and not face getting "Jacked."

Do us all a favor, go to Mexico and not on a tour. Go deep into Mexico. See what a s**t hole it is first hand. I used to Volunteer for the Corizone foundation building housing IN Mexico. I have been to Tecate Mexico which is a boarder town. I hate TJ like you don't even know. Until you have seen what Mexican slums look like you have no idea what you are talking about. Now Corizone cannot operate like they used to because the violence began to target them and they are a charity organization founded IN Mexico to help Mexico's poor. Its funny to be thanked in one breath and hated in the other JUST FOR BEING AMERICAN!

And you want us to leave our boarders open to an influx of this dysfunction because you feel it is racist? Damn, I can see you are popular with the guys...

It is one thing to have an opinion but people don't like it when a woman is a beyatch about it. Even men can be beyatches too and I have run across a couple of them here too. I may not be popular and I may be opinionated but at least I got better than one liner answers and I don't keep repeating "This is racist!" Yeah it sucks it came to this to deal with a problem but not doing anything is worst than what AZ is trying to do. At least they are finally acting. Have you turned in any businesses employing any illegal labor? So what, we should sit on our hands and let the problem get worst to make you feel better about your beliefs in racism?
