Topic: Depression support - part 4 | |

I bought a book today called "How to Survive the Loss of a Love" by Bloomfield, Colgrove, and McWilliams. I procrastinated at least a week on picking it up after it came in. Facing loss, coming out of shock and denial is never easy. I realize I am going through all the stages, including acceptance, over and over. Lets see where it all ends up and when. Yup, just like a death in the family, albeit to a lessor degree. You're right on time. Take time to feel and I already see a candle is lit. Most of the rest is just about time. Whatever you're feeling now, will pass. |

If there are any crickets around here, Karen I bet they have their coats on or at least I hope so. I will be glad when payday gets here.

Hey, that is great, Amber. I am happy for you. I bet you have had to go through a mountain of paper work. On the upside for me my mom changed her mind on selling this place I guess. But on the downside my van has been halted on being worked on. It is drivable but I was really wanting the gas tank dropped and having the fuel pump and float valve fixed so that I wouldn't have to have insurance on both the car and the van. The guy who was going to buy my car as soon as the van was fixed changed his mind on buying the car. His brother-in-law who was fixing it got hooked on the World of Warcraft game. Thanks for resurrecting the thread.

Is it possible to be depressed and not realize it? You know it is... Clinical Depression comes to mind. You dont know whats wrong with you,, you are getting tired way before your day is over. You go home and eat something only to throw it up later after you go to bed. You cant sleep, cant eat and are extremely tired most all the time. Gawd whats wrong with you? Could be Clinical Depression. |

So sorry about your dad Marie...I lost my mom last yr, we finally had to tell her it was ok to go.. But she is in a better place.. Prayers to you and your family.. Thank you Ms. Silverfox for your kind thoughts. I have been wrapped up in a lot of the estate stuff yet, still a lot of stress with his death. I know my dad is in a better place, he was in pain, I am sure he had liver cancer, had pretty much quit eating, etc., so I am actually glad he passed quickly and did not linger on for months as some do, that would have been much worse. He is no longer hurting. Just dealing with all the mess afterwards, the paperwork, etc. You have a great weekend. Thank you again. |

Is it possible to be depressed and not realize it? Absolutely -- I think people can go around for years and not know what is wrong and be depressed. Anytime someone does something to the excess - like excessive eating, sleeping, drinking alcohol, smoking, even drugs, all these are signs that something is not right. And they can go the other way and stop eating when they are depressed too. People can become very irritable, stop sleeping too. There is no one symptom of depression but can be one or a mix of any of these. It can be an overwhelming sadness that you can't shake and you don't know where it came from. Early morning awakening, like 3 a.m., every morning and not being able to go back to sleep. There are lots of symptoms, but if someone isn't aware it is a symptom of depression, they know something isn't "right" but a lot of the time don't know what is wrong. I went for years and years before a counselor finally told me I was "depressed." I thought "finally, now I know what is wrong." I started out in childhood and was in my mid 20s when she diagnosed me. It obviously attributed to my weight problem and other issues. I have been working really hard to lose the weight but it is not easy, has been a lifelong battle. Wow, guess I wrote a book. Hope this answered your question, Lee. Take care. |
