The past couple days, my brain has been in direct conflict with reality, so I disregarded it. I just gained a new customer, and with it, a renowned podiatrist in my profession, and for all practical purposes, should be manic, not depressed. Go figure.

So far he has been a perfect gentleman and his parent love me, and mine his. It is nice to be able to come in here and (personally for me) be able to write some good news. There are so many bad things happening to me but all I want to do it be with him. He has helped me through so much. I think we are getting close to the "L" word |

Working for my friend, Stu, tonight so he can get his truck fixed. I will work his Thursday night and he will work my Sunday night. They are hiring new people and it is great except that it is screwing up everybody's time off. Second shift is timing the pullups and briefs on the back to make sure we are changing them. I thought it was dirty pool but am seeing where they are coming from. Where we work the briefs are good for fours hours and even if they are dry they have to be changed. Pullups are good for twenty four hours if they are dry. Eight days in a row without a night off. Would take some time off if I could afford it.

I've been feeling down and depressed for the last week, and I can't seem to shake it off like I normally can. I went to the shelter today to play with cats, but that didn't cheer me up at all. It gets worse but I'll leave it out so I don't scare anyone. I swear I just want to talk to someone, not type or Email, but actually say words to someone about how I feel. I'm going to set an appointment for my counselor tomorrow but right now I feel like I'm going to explode.

Depression is a disease that never seems to go away...I hate it...I have dysthymia Depression, the lowest form...as well as two other disorders...but that's my depression one...little zoloft and topomax pills...you ever wonder if the pills help? I've never gone off of them or anything, but, sometimes I just wonder...other times I notice I'm more depressed without them...depression hurts, not only yourself, but everyone around you (I know that's from the commercial, but it's true...I've lived it)...to all those who suffer I'm sorry you too have to endure it...

Good to see you posting, again, Allen. My friend has gotten a bad case of staff from working at the nursing home. His girlfriend got it from him and now they are both infected. His doctor told him that it might be a month to a year before he will be cleared to go back to work. I am worried for the both of them. I am glad you are seeing your counselor. I hope it gets better for you.

I have dysthymia too, didn't get diagnosed until my 40s though, the meds don't work for me, I have pretty much every side effect in the book from them, so I try counseling and have learned to get along pretty well. I hope things work out for you. Welcome to our thread. It has been quiet in here for awhile, people have apparently been busy. Keep up your fight, you can conquer it or get control of it anyways. Take care. I take Topamax too, for my migraines. Good luck. |

Oh I know how it is to get every side effect in the book from meds because when it comes to surgeries I can't take anything for pain (literally--not even morphine, penicillian, etc.). Topamax for migraines? Odd. I still get migraines and I've been on Topamax for a few years. Excedrin works for me. Nice to meet someone who knows what it's like. And thanks for the warm welcome to the thread. |

And thanks for the warm welcome to the thread. I am only on 200 mg of Topamax a day, but without it I get auras for migraines, I actually get "retinal auras" where I get the auras but the headache doesn't happen, really bizarre. Scared me, I was having them daily, went to the ophthalmologist, was scared my vision was going bad, he said they wouldn't affect my vision, but I get them when I am stressed. The Topamax helps control them. I know you can take up to 600 a day of Topamax, I have been on 300, but do okay on 200, so have been on that for maybe 3 years now. I still get headaches but not like I was. Stress seems to dictate my headaches, when I am super stressed, I will get stuck in a headache cycle that can last for months. I have muscle relaxants that help some with the arthritis in my neck and slows the headaches down too. After all these years, guess I am finally finding a combination that works. Yeah, it does suck to walk around for 40+ years and wonder what the he1l is wrong with you, finally someone put some words to it, it was relief to finally know what it was. I do okay without meds, but have done a lot of counseling to work on my issues and have developing some coping skills so I do okay. I actually can't take aspirin or Tylenol, but do take some Vicodin or another pill for the major headaches, can take the Tylenol if there is some narcotic there to buffer it, I guess, but my stomach won't take the straight Tylenol after all these years. Welcome again, this is normally a really safe place to hang out, lots of good people here. Take care. |

Sorry I have been gone so long, have been working like crazy, my 2nd job has me typing 7 nights a week and I just don't get on here much anymore. I pop in and read an occasional thread or two, but rarely post anymore.
I hope everyone is doing well. Roy - looks like they are still working you like crazy. Karen - congrats - I am really happy for you. Amber - sorry about your hip, hope you feel better soon. Allen - keep going to the counselor, they will help you work out your issues. Bi - welcome to our "humble" happy little home. Take care and have a great Memorial Day weekend. I need to get going, have more work to do. Later. |
