Actually, Hawaii could provide for itself very nicely in many ways, not by export. Geographical location makes it an essential stop for many flights and ships coming across the Pacific.

And many of the imports do not come from the United States mainland, many are imported from the other countries that pass through.

Hawaii is also the most "wired" place for communications in the Pacific.

So there are many ways Hawaii can support itself. But Spam might be a good idea too..open a new Spam factory, would make a great tourist attraction...we hear Americans love Spam too!
