FREEDOM!

Today is a historic day and our forefathers speak through us. Our Forefathers made the treaties in good faith with the sacred Canupa and with the knowledge of the Great Spirit, They never honored the treaties, that is the reason we are here today...Garry Rowland, Wounded Knee

Lakotah Unilateral Withdrawal from All Agreements and Treaties with the United States of America

We as the freedom loving Lakotah People are the predecessor sovereign of Dakota Territory as evidenced by the Treaties with the United States Government, including, but not limited to, the Treaty of 1851 and the Treaty of 1868 at Fort Laramie.

Lakotah, formally and unilaterally withdraws from all agreements and treaties imposed by the United States Government on the Lakotah People.

Lakotah , and the population therein, have waited for at least 155 years for the United States of America to adhere to the provisions of the above referenced treaties. The continuing violations of these treaties’ terms have resulted in the near annihilation of our people physically, spiritually, and culturally. Lakotah rejects United States Termination By Appropriation policy from 1871 to the present.

In addition, the evidence of gross violations of the above referenced treaties are listed herein. Lakotah encourages the United States of America, through its Government ,to enter into dialogue with Lakotah regarding the boundaries, the land and the resources therein. Please contact the Republic of Lakotah at (605) 867-1111 or info@republicoflakotah.com.

Should the United States and its subordinate governments choose not to act in good faith concerning the rebirth of our nation, we hereby advise the United States Government that Lakotah will begin to administer liens against real estate transactions within the five state area of Lakotah.

Lakotah, through its government, appointed the following representatives to withdraw from all the treaties with the United States of America based on the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties entered into force in 1980 and the

U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples 2007:

warmachine,

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

This story smells to high heaven.

According to NewsBusters, that story is exaggerated:

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2007/12/21/msm-exaggerates-american-indians-claims-seceding-usa

Also read Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés post (#9) on The Moderate Voice:

http://themoderatevoice.com/war/iraq/sectarian-violence/16675/sioux-indians-of-lakota-tribe-tell-state-dept-of-succession/

If Russell Means' group is behind this story, it should be noted that no one in his group holds any Native American post and it definitely does not speak for every Lakota Native American.

4 people, or however many there are, do not represent a whole tribe.

First you tell me not to believe everything I read on the net, then in the same post, present me with debunking links that I'm supposed to read and take as gospel... from the same internet, nevermind those debunking articles have already been debunked themselves.

Yes, Means is involved, yes, he has stated that not all leaders are involved, but that the people are behind it.
As for his group not being in any Native Leadership posts, I beg your pardon, but you're wrong.

Means aside, lets look at just the other three names from the seccession statement.

Women of All Red Nations (WARN) founder Phyllis Young.
This is a Pretty important postion of leadership for the Council of the Red Nation.

Oglala Lakota Strong Heart Society leader Duane Martin Sr., Brave Heart Society
Project: Cultural Programs for Yankton Dakota Women and Girls
Organization: Brave Heart Society
Year: 1996 - Present
Tribe: Nakota, Dakota, Lakota (Sioux)
Reservation: Yankton Reservation
Location: Yankton, SD

The Brave Heart Society is the revival of a traditional cultural society for women and works tirelessly at “calling home the spirit of the culture.”

Due to government intervention, the boarding school system, and the breakdown of families due to poverty, the Dakota people lost much of their traditional knowledge. In 1994 the Brave Heart Society was formed on the Yankton Reservation with the mission of bringing traditional knowledge and practices back to everyday life.
Thats a pretty important leadership position as well.

and finally

Garry Rowland, Leader Chief Big Foot Riders,Chief Big Foot Riders Return To Wounded Knee, "We Want To Be Free"
13 Day Ride Began Under Bonds of U.S. Treaty, Ends On December 29th With Free Nation
21ST Annual Ride Returns To New Life for Free Lakota People

WOUNDED KNEE, Lakota (formerly South Dakota)- December 27 - Thirteen days and 287 miles ago, 44 people mounted horses and began the Memorial Chief Big Foot Ride in honor of Si Tanka (Chief Big Foot) and his unarmed band of Mniconjou and Hunkpapa refuges who were slaughtered by U.S. Calvary in 1890 at Wounded Knee.

But while these 44 riders began their journey under the shadow of U.S. Treaty, their numbers will swell to over 100 and end under the protection of a free and sovereign Lakota Nation.

The ride began on December 15th in Standing Rock, the anniversary of Sitting Bull's death, and has traveled through fierce snowstorm and cold, the same conditions faced by the 357 mostly women, children and elder men at Wounded Knee Creek 127 years ago.

"The purpose of the ride is to ride the spirit trail of Chief Big Foot," said Tegihya Kte also known as Garry Rowland, leader of the riders and recent delegate of the Lakota Freedom effort in Washington D.C.. "The Tree of Life died in Wounded Knee in 1890, and the ride was begun to mend the Sacred Hoop."

This leans towards more of a spiritual and political activist group, than actual leadership, but his presence is widely respected and his advice listened to and followed.

So I'm supposed to ignore the statement made by Vladimir Putin after the Lakota delegation made their Case to the UN? Putin made it clear that Russia would back the Lakota the same way that the US has backed both Georgian and Kosovo independence.

The four Lakota Itacan representatives have been meeting with foreign embassy officials in order to hasten their official return to the Family of Nations.

Lakota’s efforts are gaining traction as Bolivia, home to Indigenous President Evo Morales, shared they are “very, very interested in the Lakota case” while Venezuela received the Lakota delegation with “respect and solidarity.”

“Our meetings have been fruitful and we hope to work with these countries for better relations,” explained Garry Rowland. “As a nation, we will have equal status within the national community.”

Education, energy and justice now take top priority in emerging Lakota. “Cultural immersion education is crucial as a next step to protect our language, culture and sovereignty,” said Means. “Energy independence using solar, wind, geothermal, and sugar beets enables Lakota to protect our freedom and provide electricity and heating to our people.”

The Lakota reservations are among the most impoverished areas in North America, a shameful legacy of broken treaties and apartheid policies. Lakota has the highest death rate in the United States and Lakota men have the lowest life expectancy of any nation on earth, excluding AIDS, at approximately 44 years. Lakota infant mortality rate is five times the United States average and teen suicide rates 150% more than national average . 97% of Lakota people live below the poverty line and unemployment hovers near 85%.

“After 150 years of colonial enforcement, when you back people into a corner there is only one alternative,” emphasized Duane Martin Sr. “The only alternative is to bring freedom into its existence by taking it back to the love of freedom, to our lifeway.”

Though you may prefer Royal Minister of Immigration to keep out all the American illegals.
