Why is it hard for men to explain or express their feelings? Well, a man would explain his feelings if a woman would remain quiet long enough for the man to get a word in. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here come the rocks again. [Dodo_David runs away.] ![]() We would remain quiet long enough for a man to get a word in but it takes them so long to form a coherent thought that we'd have one foot in the grave before they could respond ![]() ![]() ![]() In some cases we're waiting for the other foot to go in as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Why is it hard for men to explain or express their feelings? It's not difficult. It's just a sign we want to keep you interested. |

We are but a meager speck of dust in this universe, when we die the universe doesn't flicker, blink, or shudder. If we ceased to exist the universe wouldn't bother, it would continue on without us, stars would continue to be created in space and planets would continue to move. Surely a God that creates the universe wouldn't look at us to carry on his name?
I consider your question and see beauty in the immensity of the universe. But then I realize that I am a part of the fabric of the universe. How does one assign worth comparing one part of the the universe from another? What exactly is it that dies? |

Maybe God is considered to be something like time. You can't literally point your finger at it. Once you understand the concept, you may come to believe that it is real and that it permeates all reality.
A game of connect-the-dots? Once you believe it, you will see it? So, it seems to me that even if we conclude that God is not real but imagined based upon this, that conclusion alone does not relegate God into uselessness.
Interesting point. We know Newton's laws aren't always correct, yet they are extremely useful. |

I think there is something very important here. The word "rose" conjures up an image based on knowledge. The image isn't a real rose. It is memory. Memory tells us that roses exist.
Like the Rose, the word God points to all the knowledge that we have accumulated about God. God exists, God doesn't exist, the Mormons have it wrong because..., the Baptist are right because..., the Hindus this, Muslims that, so on and so on. Conflict in the world revolves around the knowledge that we hold on to, the knowledge we are unwilling to question, the knowledge we think everyone should agree with. Do you see it? |

The definition for "reality" wasn't being questioned. What we mean by "real" when we ask the question 'Is God real?' is the current focus, or at least I think/believe that it ought be in order to make progress. For me, the word reality simply points to things that we both agree are factual. For example, I think everyone here would agree that a belief in God exists because it is a fact that people believe in God. On the other hand, belief isn't a tangible thing like the keys on my keyboard. I suppose there could be confusion there. In any case, reality is meant to be that which exists beyond mere belief. |

Personally, I find the often used real/imagined distinction utterly incapable of setting out certain things. Agreeing on a definition for reality seems necessary. But why do you feel that the common use meaning of the word is insufficient? Are you saying that the dictionary definition will be insufficient? |

I was just going off your profile. If you are still searching, I again can only point you to the things I have learned, witnessed and experienced. I believe you genuinely desire to help people. Despite what our profiles may say, I feel a connection with you. |
