Here is my take on sex for money.
I think it is a necessity to have sex workers in society, despite what other people think.
Do you agree or disagree and why?

I do not condone sex workers. That being said, I think that lonely people that would want such a thing should wear a specific type of flower, that lets others know that rules apply not only in the legal sense, but would be able to identify potential lovers, unpaid, and that it would be a mutual connection.... that is supposing both parties are willing and legal to do so.

Money and sex shouldn’t ever be connected to one another. But if two parties that are lovers would be willing to help one another out in an effort for bettering life and the pursuit of happiness outside lust, it would be an act of good will, not paying for a sexual favor. I hope that makes sense

Friends with benefits I think you mean. That can get complicated. Pay as you go is easier.

I believe sex is a very important moment. It could use tension it could Even calm the mind. But the most important part of sex is the contact with another person.

It's interesting you talk about sex workers but the title is ladies of the night. Does it imply that you are in favour of prostitution for women only?
My opinion is that there is a vast public to whom usual unpaid sex is precluded (or at least not easily available) under the current organization of society. You can identify those categories anyway you want, but for them sex for money can be a great benefit.
In other societies, where men and women had the same sex drive and sex was lived freely, probably sex workers would not be necessary.

Well, I believe men are better when they have had sex. The tension does not build up to the point where they molest family or rape someone. To me, self control is best, but not all men can have the self control needed to be celibate. Hence releasing the tension.

You’re absolutely correct but it all the also depends on the status of the friendship between both parties.

You are nitpicking. I am only talking about females sex workers.

There's a difference between sex for money and prostitution.
Ever been to a Greek 'Compound'?

Sex for money is not 'bad' when it is controlled by health guidelines and safety.
"Ladies Of The Night" implies raw ungoverned sex usually controlled by pimps and often involving desperate people being exploited thru force or slavery.
I've been to New Orleans, St Louis, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Miami and many other 'Easy' cities. Not to mention the undergrounds in many foreign cities during shore leave.

I imagine condom use has gained popularity since I was exposed but the dirty backbone of the raw industry is still hazardous not only to the seeker but the provider as well. Especially in 'affordable' markets.

State sanctioned prostitution (Nevada)(Greece) provides condoned opportunities but still has the unregulated element in the streets. The thread title "Ladies Of The Night" implies the unregulated, low budget option many desperate people use.
Dangerous, very dangerous.

Well I guess we have to make a distinction between any legal market and its corrensponding illegal implementation.
In an ideal world (is a world really ideal without space for illegal? not sure! but that could be another topic) without crime, should prostitution be allowed or not? Would it be moral to use such services? This is of course assuming they are provided on a voluntary basis and in a safe way. Same could apply to spirits, drugs, speed limits... you name it

As Ladywind rightly said at the beginning of the thread, this is her take on it and her opinion and we are all entitled to our own opinion even if others disagree with it.

When I was a child my dad tried, as any dad would, to protect me from the awful everyday news of rape, assault and murder etc. But when I was old enough to understand he explained that he believed that prostitution should be legalised and regulated in order to help limit the cases of rape.

Of course that would never put an end to it as there are people in this world who believe you shouldn’t have to pay for sex, and there are also the sick people who do it for ‘fun’, or some other sick reason.

If it was legalised and regulated that would also be a start to help preventing sex slavery and human trafficking of these women, and sadly children.

In an ideal world we would all meet our ideal partner and have a loving, sexual relationship for the whole of our ideal lives. Unfortunately we don’t live in an ideal world.

 But hey this is just my opinion

Although I do not have any moral objections to 'safe and voluntary' prostitution, I find it rather immoral to conceive it as a way of reducing sexual crimes. We can't just say this guy is a brute, let's give him sex or he'll take it anyway. If he's a brute he should be taught to restrain from violence. We are supposed to be an evoluted species, the fact that biology gave a greater sex drive to men compared to women is no excuse. I Don't mean to criticize other people views, I respect them fully, just want to propose an alternative view. But still, all in all, I am in favour of male and female prostitution, homo and / or ethero / bi. Provided it's fully voluntary, not forced by anyone nor by economic conditions but as a free choice. And of course with good health monitoring.

I think it is okay as well, at least for now.
There may come a time where the need for sex workers is gone.

It's a legal job, they have to pay VAT even.

Same in Germany, they have to pay income tax and have to go for regular health checks.

Though this does not rule out sex trafficking by all means.

that's one more reason to have a free education system like in many countries. I find it horrible that in some places for university one has to pay tens of thousand of dollars / euros / pounds

"Sex workers" have been around since the age of the dinosaurs.

We will never legislate them out of existence.

As long as somebody isn't being "exploited", that is not engaging in it out of their own free will, and are not underage, I'm all for legalizing it.

I support it, and feel it should be legalized in the US. It should be handled like it is in other countries where it's a legal job and they pay taxes.

I don't believe it will stop sex crimes though, least not in the US. It might slow it down some, but sex crimes are more about power and control than a frustration of not being able to get sex. I feel most will want to continue to take it, rather than pay for it. There's plenty of prostitution in the US, yet we continue to have a high rate of sex crimes. They could easily get sex for $10 or $20 in some Metropolitan areas, but they don't. They aren't interested in paying for it, their interested in just taking it, and having power over what they believe they can't have.
