It's so wonderful to see that most took the morality route in their responses.
I think now; from most of the responses, it's perfectly reasonable to expect most would have no issue encouraging their daughters to go into the trade. It's nice to see where the world is at, every once in awhile |

Who is the perpetrator here and who exists because of it? |

Take a lawyer defending real bad criminals, not giving a chit whether the man is guilty or not. Such people earn loads of money, live the wealthy life, yet are utterly disgusting. Nevertheless, their job is also a necessity in society the way it is now. Just like sexworkers. |

As undateable as many women in this country have become over the recent years, I am 100% ok with prostitution/sex work. And this is coming from a handsome, fit, financially well off man who has no problem finding sex/companionship.
The amount of time, effort, and bs involved with dating women in the USA these days isn't even close to worth the effort. Just pay up once a week, month, or year (depending on your needs) and continue on with your day and life in peace. Or, free porn is everywhere. Women are becoming more and more irrelevant to men as time goes on with no one to blame but themselves. Yeah, I said it! |

It is so much easier than 'Friends with benefits'. |

O support it, and feel it should be legalized in the US. It should be handled like it is in other countries where it's a legal job and they pay taxes. I don't believe it will stop sex crimes though, least not in the US. It might slow it down some, but sex crimes are more about power and control than a frustration of not being able to get sex. I feel most will want to continue to take it, rather than pay for it. There's plenty of prostitution in the US, yet we continue to have a high rate of sex crimes. They could easily get sex for $10 or $20 in some Metropolitan areas, but they don't. They aren't interested in paying for it, their interested in just taking it, and having power over what they believe they can't have. I question everything. Power and control? I question that. I believe that is the root cause for some rapists, but not all. Yes, they do use their physical strength to overpower, but I think lust is the drive behind most men. |

"Sex workers" have been around since the age of the dinosaurs. We will never legislate them out of existence. As long as somebody isn't being "exploited", that is not engaging in it out of their own free will, and are not underage, I'm all for legalizing it. Yes. |

Not sure why the oldest profession in the world is frowned upon...
My only concern is those doing it, need to choose to do it and are not forced to do it for a "Manager" "Pimnp" etc... |

I believe lust is the drive behind a lot of men, but don't believe that most would force themselves on a woman to the point of raping them due to that lust. Unless of course alcohol or drugs were involved, where they lost their senses and inhibitions. In those cases, yes, I believe it could be solely a lustful thing rather than a power and control thing. But, back on topic... It's the woman's body. If she wants to use it as a commodity, in order to make money, that should be her choice. Just like any other commodity, you need a business license to sell it. It's too bad the Law here doesn't see it that way. |

What percentage of women are "ladies of the night"? U.S. truck drivers should all know about Truckers Against Trafficking, a recent program aimed at rescuing kidnapped children (and adults). Apparently a large percentage of sex workers do so by force. If you are going to "pass as you go" ask your partner if he/she is there by choice. Other motivating factors might be low self-esteem, drug addiction, and domestic abuse. It ay be impossible to solve all cases of low self-esteem, drug and alcohol abuse, and sexual slavery but this is no excuse for supporting prostitution. If we have sex for our own health, should we do something unhealthy to get it? It may be like that in the USA, but not all sex workers are messed up. Some do it for the money. It pays far better than a 9-5 job. |

There's a difference between sex for money and prostitution. Ever been to a Greek 'Compound'? Sex for money is not 'bad' when it is controlled by health guidelines and safety. "Ladies Of The Night" implies raw ungoverned sex usually controlled by pimps and often involving desperate people being exploited thru force or slavery. I've been to New Orleans, St Louis, Pittsburgh, Norfolk, Miami and many other 'Easy' cities. Not to mention the undergrounds in many foreign cities during shore leave. I imagine condom use has gained popularity since I was exposed but the dirty backbone of the raw industry is still hazardous not only to the seeker but the provider as well. Especially in 'affordable' markets. State sanctioned prostitution (Nevada)(Greece) provides condoned opportunities but still has the unregulated element in the streets. The thread title "Ladies Of The Night" implies the unregulated, low budget option many desperate people use. Dangerous, very dangerous. The earliest known record of the 'prostitute' meaning is found in William Hicks' Wits Academy, 1677: Come you Ladies of the Night That in silent sports delight. That is where I am coming from. |

I used to hang around Piccadilly in London back in the day when I was short of money and frankly, I was quite quite popular.
I used to get all sorts and, to be honest it only hurt the first time. I worked for a charity after that and all the lads used to joke about me 'swinging my bucket' whatever that meant. I do hope everyone has eaten tonight. |

It is midday here, but no worries, that does not put me off food. I live in the real world |
