The "Problem" is covid is not an 'in your face' pandemic. Meaning the virus is not affecting many people you know personally (in most cases). The "Pandemic" is the 'fear of the virus', not the virus itself.

If the virus had a higher saturation, where infection were common, people would have more respect for the containment and prevention tactics.
While the media tells us its bad, in our actual lives, we don't encounter it like they say. What we encounter is the fear related to it so many people dismiss the safeguards that officials are trying to enforce.

It actually makes sense people are ignoring and fighting lockdowns and masking.
You're not sick, nobody you know is sick, why do all this stuff all the time for something which is not in your local reality?

I imagine there would be a serious change in attitudes if everyone that has ever been infected or are infected had to wear a red flag in public and display a red flag on their door and car. That all people vaccinated displayed a yellow flag.

I don't know to be honest.
I'm not worried about people who have had it. I've been in the car within 1,5m distance with an acquaintance who then told me, "Oh chips, I didn't think of it, but I had to self-quarantine! Oh well, that ended 2 days ago and I feel fine."
I haven't been ill at all, and maybe she just had a cold.

Like you say, most of us don't know anyone who has it or has had it. I know of one person who did (tested and has been quite ill but recovered weeks ago). She lives on the other side of the country. And that woman with whom I was in the car (not tested) who lives around the corner.
There's no reason to worry about people who have had it.
I get your point, but I don't think the amount of red flags of current active cases is that bad.
Remember, of all the 86 mill cases we've had so far -including recovered & dead- there's only 107.500 in critical condition right now. 95,5% of all active cases have mild condition.
And that 95,5% (23.147.000) of mild cases is spread out all over the world which has a population of 7.8 billion.
I still don't see the critical.
It's not 'bring out your dead!' (I'm not dead!) situation. And let's hope it won't get to that either!

Covid-19: β€˜One of the worst shifts of my life – it’s overwhelming’

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/health-55540701

" Before Boris Johnson announced new tougher restrictions for England, BBC London was given exclusive access to a hospital to see how staff were coping with Covid-19. "

" From nurses talking about crying when they get home to doctors asking people to stop β€œbending” the rules because it's leading to people in their 20s, 30s and 40s dying, these are the staff of St George’s Hospital in south London. "

I happened upon an article in English about the Dutch nursing staff.
It's indeed a matter of not trusting the vaccine.

Boris Johnson widely expected to impose another lockdown to last several months, with only "essential" journeys allowed and one hour exercise outside.
So, after decades of closing Hospitals and cutting staff by governments of both major parties, it's finally come back to bite them with a pandemic. Naturally, there comes a point where any medical service wouldn't be able to cope but this is a mostly self-inflicted injury in my opinion.

Wasn't that the idea of the spring "lockdown", or the Autumn "lockdown", or the winter tier system, all have failed to stop the spread of the virus, we can, of course blame the British public for being selfish and ignorant, but the government have to take a big share of the blame, their leadership and decision making during this pandemic, compared to other countries has been nothing short of farcical and shambolic IMO.

Had they dealt with the issue properly in March/April rather than faffing about, likewise in November when it was becoming obvious we were heading for a major second wave and they were far too late to act on scientific advice.

Not to mention the "eat out to help out" shenanigans, letting the pubs stay open until 10pm, opening shopping centres up to everyone, a complete and utter shambles!

It's one thing to be upset, it's another to read and find out if lockdown is actually effective at all. And there's a helluva lot of proof now that we're further in the pandemic that it doesn't do much, if at all.
They're just trying to scare people and with that divide us.

Here's one section. The full article via link below it.
Lockdowns Do Not Control the Coronavirus: The Evidence
6. Professor Ben Israel’s Analysis of virus transmission. April 16, 2020. β€œSome may claim that the decline in the number of additional patients every day is a result of the tight lockdown imposed by the government and health authorities. Examining the data of different countries around the world casts a heavy question mark on the above statement. It turns out that a similar pattern – rapid increase in infections that reaches a peak in the sixth week and declines from the eighth week – is common to all countries in which the disease was discovered, regardless of their response policies: some imposed a severe and immediate lockdown that included not only β€˜social distancing’ and banning crowding, but also shutout of economy (like Israel); some β€˜ignored’ the infection and continued almost a normal life (such as Taiwan, Korea or Sweden), and some initially adopted a lenient policy but soon reversed to a complete lockdown (such as Italy or the State of New York). Nonetheless, the data shows similar time constants amongst all these countries in regard to the initial rapid growth and the decline of the disease.”

Whilst most people are sensible and do try and do the right thing, all that happens is that once we come out of a lockdown, the idiots then feel the need to "make up for lost time" and all that happens then is the minority of idiots just end up spreading it again by not doing the right thing.
I don't think a lockdown is the answer, I think a large percentage of people are just not taking any notice of Boris and his chums anymore.

Yeah, I read about that from a UK friend on FB. I wonder how long it takes our government to come up with the same chit.
Like you say, resembles a police / fascist state way too much. It's getting out of hand.

It is actually above those two now. look at the graph here (this graph is updated regularly).
You can see it's worsened, but still nowhere near the worst we've ever had. let's hope it stays that way!
Last time I checked on Oct 30th it was 1.18 mill, so was already higher than Hong Kong & Asian flue. Now it's 1.8 mill.

I've just watched a 35 min explanation by a prof. Dr. who's worked 40 yrs in immunology and vaccines, also making vaccines. He tells why this vaccine is not necessary, potentially very dangerous in the long run and also why that is.
Also footage from Dutch gov. organisation -CBG- that has to approve meds in which they clearly say they don't know if it works, if it protects, nor what it will do in the long run as there's simply not enough data. (Literally what they say!!)
Yet, they want to globally inject it in everyone... They're basically experimenting with a new type of vaccine (mRNA) that will get in all your cells and if years from now they discover it is unhealthy and causes illnesses you can not ever get it out anymore.
He strongly recommends that if you decide to get vaccinated to get the one and only that is made the traditional way made by Sanofi, not the mRNA vaccines which is all the rest of them, including Pfizer.

The risk also when many do go for this BS we will likely help create a society worldwide where ppl get a Covid pass with QR code. I do invite you to take a min to think about the repercussions of that.
And there's no reason nor point for vaccination, nor for lockdown. This is something that's in nature now, and in mankind, and will resurface again. We cannot do these rules and lockdowns and new vaccines every time. And not needed either as almost every human and also animals simply recover.

There are currently only 3000 people in hospital while they make out to believe the hospitals are overrun. So this is also BS.
And they DO have meds that can in actual fact help and cure the people that are very ill, but THEY DO NOT give these meds... These aren't approved of yet (while the mRNA vaccines also aren't!!!! They have provision approval as they don't know enough about them yet so vaccines are NOT really approved at all!!).
They do know these meds help and cure the really ill, but they're not focusing on that. All they want is inject every human being on the planet with some substance for some reason.

They've already given some their first shot without having enough to give the 2nd.
I'm still thinking -esp. since they don't even know if it works- that it's not about vaccinating against a disease but that there's a different agenda.
I always try to keep the middle road with complot theories, I never buy into anything just like that.
But this stinks and begins to stink more and more.

If you want to watch the 35 min clip, I'll give the link. It is in Dutch, 2x footage from a US and UK doctor as well in English. You can switch on English subs with the settings. Granted, these are YouTube subs, so not totally accurate, but clear enough to understand what's being said. (click the cog, then 'subtitles' and you can choose English)

The first English footage is around 3:20 mins in.

Did you read what I posted? Maybe you should.

What you post is nrs of people infected. So what? Are they seriously ill? About to die? Nope. So what's the big deal? Do we make the headlines with a flu or cold when this happens? Nope.
It's all fear mongering, nothing more.

The Christmas story is also quite unrealistic as many here spent it with family. We have NO increase since.
France also has NO increase at all since then.
I think it's just coincidence, used as a story to raise fear.

Also, if all the London hospitals, 298 according to Google, cannot even handle 7000 patients...
Question should be, "Why not? Why don't they have the capacity or personnel?"
Is the total nr in hospital weird or the fact they have so little capacity to deal with it in a city with millions of people?

And again, saying 1 in 30 is/was infected with Covid means nothing unless all these people are about to die and seriously ill. Most people that get infected don't get all that ill, don't need hospital care, and recover.

Fact .... Uk is preparing field hospitals to cope with covid admissions .

Fact ., intensive care has a criteria for admissions .. those admitted require mechanical or non-invasive ventilation, have a severe or life threatening condition or require negative pressure isolation .

Fact .. the Netherlands had to rely on German hospitals to admit covid patients during the first wave .

Fact .. mRNA does not change DNA or chromosomes . It activates the immune system and teaches it to recognise the covid virus . My personal concern would be if there was any potential to cause an abnormal immune response such as an auto immune process .

Did you know the same technology is being researched to fight cancer cells . I wonder if this therapy represented a cure for certain types of cancer if it would receive a different reception .

Fact.. there are two mRNA vaccines currently approved .. moderna and Pfizer .

The Oxford vaccine platform uses a chimpanzee adenovirus vector (common cold virus)

Jansen is seeking approval for a vaccine platform using a human adenovirus vector .

Many of the other vaccines in trials are using different platforms including inactivated covid virus particles .

Hospitals are ALWAYS full in the winter months, Crystal. These nothingburgers are just that. How many people are dying from the flu now a days? When are those numbers in? But I suppose the longer the government and media keep pounding it in, the more people will buy into it and parrot it.

Meanwhile some dude is beating on his kids or his ol lady because he's stressed out and can't go anywhere to destress, some chick is drinking her wine and popping pills before 10am because she's got nothing else to do, and some dad has a gun in his mouth because he lost his job and the insurance money can make sure his family isn't living in a cardboard box after he's missed the last few mortgage payments....all because of coronavirus. Where are those stories en masse? Instead these 96% survival rates are the outrageous stories (and of that 4% that don't make it, some 92%-98% had some pre-existing conditions.)

Covid: Can we really jab our way out of lockdown?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55488724

"With the country in lockdown and a new faster-spreading variant of coronavirus rampant, it's clear the UK is in a race to vaccinate."

"Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants all the over-70s, the most clinically vulnerable and front-line health and care workers to be offered a jab by mid-February, to allow the restrictions to be eased."

"That requires about 13 million people to be given the opportunity to be vaccinated - but so far only one million have been."

"And ensuring a quick rollout to the rest is fraught with difficulties."

Influenza deaths winter 2018/9 all age groups less than 4000. see page 54

In this Covid-19 crisis there have been over 3000 hospital admissions in England in the past week, with over 31000 already in hospitals suffering with this disease. The number of UK deaths now exceed 80,000. There is no comparison whatsoever in the numbers of people catching Covid-19 and those catching Flu, and requiring hospitalisation, and the number of resulting deaths here in England, in my opinion.
