I really wish I could help her, Amber. She is so pretty and could do a lot better for herself. She is a little spitfire and she was complaining she doesn't have time enough to party just on her two days off. Her grandfather has done real nice by her and got her her first car free and clear. She is trying hard to study for cna license and could have a great future. I can see the masochistic streak in her by the way she lets others take advantage of her and by the way she is a good person by the way she is with the residents. She is a natural by the way she has a good heart. I just have trouble understanding why she is attracted to the bad boy type. It is like the way a moth is drawn to a flame until it gets burned. Maybe she is trying to save him but I keep thinking that is insanity. She says the reason her parents keep talking bad about him is because they don't understand him like she does. I think they understand him all too well and are just trying to help her. But she has this act of rebellion going on. It is like she is her own worse enemy and just can't get enough of the pain. I just wish she would listen to herself and the way she is letting him treat her the way he does. Of course no good sadist is going to let a good masochist have any peace. It just isn't their nature. I guess I worry about her too much but I really don't like seeing her hurt herself when she has so much to live for. Hopefully she will find a way of freeing herself from this relationship.

Roy, like i said, i was just like that.....maybe the only she will learn is like i did.....get burned. I hate to say it, but it may be the only to realize what an asshole this guy is. They sprayed for the spiders today at my mom's facility and the health department is going to do their annual inspection tomrrow. I learned this morning that the place only made a B grade on the sanitation grade last year.noway

I am so happy. They got my water back on. I know mom is out a bundle but hopefully th insurance will pay for it since the storm knocked out the power meter. I was so happy t watch the electrician take out that outdated fuse mess and replace it with state of the art circuit breakers. They buried the wire so it isn't accessible to a lawn mower blade. Freaking black berry vines were all over the place of pole coming into the pump house. The electrician wired the pressure switch back to like I had it before my brother-in-law tried to rewire it. Had to phone back and forth between the electricians and the power company so that mom's well wasn't fried. The electrician wired it for 220 and the power company's feed in line was 220. Mom was worried that the well was wired for 110. Power company showed me where the switches were at the meter because I thought there were switches only at the circuit breaker. So I had two set of switches to make sure were on. Power company man asked me who the electricians were because they cut his main line from the transformer. Said he ought to charge the electricians 250 dollars for cutting his line but didn't. Mom said that was between them. laugh Man the things we can take for granted like when you turn the switch on and the light works or you turn the fawcett and the water works. Thank God for small favors. I am just glad it works now. I can do my own dishes; Flush my commode and just as soon as I can get the lineoleum laid I can get my washer and dryer back in so I can do clothes. Oh, well the water works.laugh

I hear ya, Amber. But with all the trouble you just can't beat the taste of well water. I tasted city water and just didn't want to digest all them flourides and chemicals they put in the stuff. They gave me a new aide, again. Fortunately this one was a rehire. Was glad for my friend when she said she dumped that guy for good last night. She had her fill of it. I thought she was smart. She will probably pass out like I will this morning since we all had to stay two hours over. I was glad to hear she has patched up things between her mother and her. Found out the final straw was when the boyfriend badmouthed her in front of her grandfather and I guess that was when she had all she could stand. She loves her grandfather and her two ulcers couldn't take any more, either. I hope everyone has a good day.

I'm glad she was able to learn to leave this guy alone as soon as she did, didn't lose much more than a little bit of her heart.......I ended up losing a lot by not learning to leave my ex alone....namely the chance to raise my daughter.....oh well, I learned from that mistake.....

I used to feel that way when with my son and daughter. But history has a way of repeating itself. I can remember when I would stay with my dad that my mom would say when I would spend time with her that I was just like my dad. Then I would spend time with my mom and my dad would say I was just like my mom. They divorced before I was three and mom would get me some time and then dad would get me some time. I felt like a yoyo growing up.laugh Even though my ex would have trouble dealing with me I can remember her saying that she would get so frustrated because she would say our kids were just like me.laugh Kids go way beyond just chromosones and genes when it comes to imprinting.laugh

Amber - one thing counselors told me when I was getting divorced, that I should make my ex be sober for at least 2 years to make sure he really has changed. If he has not been sober for a very long time, I wouldn't trust him, and would suspect he could convert back very quickly to old habits. I took my ex back a few times, a huge mistake every time. Think long and hard about it. Like MB said, he is an EX for a reason. Very few people that I have heard of who were ex's and got back together have been success stories that I have heard of.

Roy has good advice too.

MB - glad you are not withdrawing and things are going okay. Thanks for the support today, I really appreciate it.

Jax - thanks for your good wishes. I still have my fingers crossed.

Karen - sorry things are down for you, but try to get some rest and recharge your batteries during this break. Thanks for your support today, too.
that is very intelligent advice, i am a recovering alcoholic

Welcome Jack - this is a good place to come and join in. We all work different hours and are on at different times but sometimes you can catch one of us on at the same time. I am glad you are working your recovery, it is hard work but well worth it. My ex was in treatment 3 times and it didn't work for him and he died at the ripe old age of 45 from alcoholic cardiomyopathy - the booze basically killed his heart. So I am glad you hear you are recovering. This is usually a safe forum to come and talk and share when you feel like it.

Karen - hope you are having a good week and school is going well.

Jax - hope your week went well and your job is going well. Stay away from the flu bug and cold too, please.

Cleo - glad you are still joining us in here.

Amber - I am glad the Health Department moved on the facility your mom is in, and I am so sorry she had to suffer from those spider bites. Make sure you stay on top of them, they can be really serious. I hope she is feeling better soon. Isn't there a better facility around there she can move to??? The one she is in sounds really awful and substandard.

Alan - hope you got yourself straightened out and listened to Cleo. She gave you excellent advice. I second her advice.

Roy - sounds like you have been really busy and that young aide keeps you busy. Sounds like she is getting it together finally. Congrats on finally getting your water and wiring fixed, it is a nightmare without water. And, sounds like you will finally get your washer and dryer back in. Good deal!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Sounds like Snuggles (Pam) is finally turning the corner, yesterday they were talking about moving her out of ICU, so her lung must be reinflating, she will have been on the ventilator for 4 weeks as of this Sunday and with the collapsed lung for 3 weeks now, so am praying she is turning the corner. Her daughter didn't call today, expect she was working and her hours conflicted with her calling. She is short on minutes and is calling after 9 pm, and sometimes works until 11 pm and with the 3 hour time zone difference, I guess she will wait until tomorrow. If things had gone bad, I am sure I would have heard.

Anyways, take care and have a great weekend everyone. Be safe and warm, and may your flushers flush away. laugh bigsmile

Marie, I am really fortunate with this new aide we just got. She is really good and 30 years old. I had trouble keeping up with her last night. She is as skinny as a rail and flat chested. It was fun working with her. She is safe around the old perv male and female residents. She reminds of an aide I had before. Go ahead and grab; There ain't anything there.laugh I found that she has years of experience and has worked at our facility before. I am just giving her a refresher course on the residents we have now. If anything I could learn from her. I was worried about missing work last week because of the flu. It looks like the worry was needless because two more quit our facility last night and yesterday we worked over 2 hours and today it a hour and a half over. Then the nurse asked us if we both come in four hours early tonight. She asked me if this was common because she has already been through burnout before. I was thinking oh please don't scare her off; I like this one.laugh I wasn't about to say it outloud though because I was afraid they would try to take her to a different shift. This one doesn't like staying at home, either but she is a single parent raising a few kids. I am really starting to feel something for single parents. I know it must be hard on them. Trying to raise a family and work, too must be hard. She was telling me her kids were already missing her. I am glad I am on the two year plan with my cell phone. I really like having a phone with me and the regular phone service on regular phones in this area sucks big time. I am glad Snuggles is doing better.

self medicating never works .You need to find the right professional and the treatment which works for you which doesn't always include meds.
sex, drugs and rock n roll just make things worse.
