I understand...

A lot of stupid and shortsighted people did stupid and shortsighted things in the early years of our country.

Getting special treatment will not change that (although it could cause collateral damage of its own).

Special treatment is not necessary.

I give two examples of a mistreated portion of our population that has mostly overcome the mistreatment.

Chinese immigrants in the 1800's.

Irish immigrants in the 1800's.

They both were enslaved and mistreated (remind yourself evertime you ride a train that you ride on their blood).

Yet both of THESE sub-races overcame without 'special' favors.

Content of charecter is something you earn. It is not garranteed by birth.

its more than just alot of stupid people doing stupid things, a whole group of people were FORCED Here(not came here with the freedom to leave, like the chinese and irish), they were stripped of rights and their CHILDREN were stripped of rights(unlike the irish and chinese) , they were completely DETACHED and their CHILDREN detached from any of their own history or culture(unlike the irish and chinese)

the irish later were able to blend in with the WHITE majority(as well as their kids) in a way black people were not, the asians stayed connected enough with their culture to continue networking and sending only the best of their culture here to excel9with sponsorship in most cases) unlike black people

yes, minorities have overcome without special need because they havent had the pretty UNIQUE AMERICAN experience of being treated ESPECIALLY seperate and unequal for so long,,,,

not a double standard for me, nappy headed ho is an insult, jewish owning bet is fact

the satan comments are extremist

the main difference here is Farrakhan has a different job description than Imus and Farrakhan does not have an employer who depends upon sponsors, Imus employer cut him loose to avoid losing MONEY and sponsors

there is noone to cut Farrakhan loose, he is self made and independent

Farrakhan is supposed to be a man of God. Don Imus is a shock jock, he says insulting things all the time. It's what he gets paid for.

How much more obvious do I have to make it? Should I act like Don Imus? Would that make him a good role model for non-radical white men? If Not, then it's a racist double standard to say that the far more offensive Farrakhan is a good role model.

this is more simplistic logic that doesnt face reality, I do not KNOW everything anyone has said or done, I do have things I hear and things I see that I admire and use to model my own life,,,,

I dont know enough about Imus, but Im sure he probably IS role model to many and possibly not because of that ONE statement but because of others he has made

I do not agree with everything Farrakhan says but there is plenty to the man that is common amongst many men I admire and I admire those things in Him too

Ghandi is a role model to many because he represented PEACE, he also represented a racist/caste system that many of those same people wouldnt emulate

Farrakhan is a well spoken, intelligent man, who has plenty to say that I admire,,,it doesnt mean I admire EVERYTHING about him or everything he says though,,,

He's a racist bigoted homophobe. I wouldn't want any "wisdom" he had to offer and I wouldn't emulate him.

Africans were not the only people forced to this country against their will.
How can you say others don't know what this is like? I would argue that the majority of people alive today in this country no nothing of what it was like to be a slave. Just because your ancestors suffered through something horrible doesn't mean you know better than someone else.

please tell me what other people were forced here against their will and made subserviant and unequal for GENERATIONS? (1619 when slaves first arrived to 1865 when the 13th amendment was passed AND until 1965 when the last of the Jim Crow Laws were overruled)

The jews were in concentrations camp and killed and tortured as no other race inhistory and forced into subservience, vikings raped pillaged and murdered other races for financial gain, the asian, the italian, the irish were treated little better than dogs when they arrived......and the American Indian were treated extremely bad by the whites stealing taking everything they owned tarred and feathered hung and dragged bnehind horses as well, show me one race that was treated nicely.....

I was not referring to WORLD HISTORY, I was referring to AMERICAN HISTORY and how it has affected groups in AMERICA, so this doesnt answer the question,

which was about MUCH more than whether people were treated 'nicely'

it was about what other GROUP was forced here against their will AND stripped of their culture and their history, AND treated (under the LAWS OF THE LAND) as subserviant americans for GENERATIONS....

to each their own, I see value in every human even If I dont agree with everything they do and say

he has had plenty of words of wisdom which I admire and respect

Would you have a problem with a white man who felt that Nathan Bedford Forrest was wise?

Some quotes from the esteemed Mr Forrest:

"Black people are potential humans - they haven't evolved yet."

"The blacks don't like me, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's a good name. Hitler was a very great man. He rose Germany up from the ashes."

with that limited information, he wouldnt be on my favorites list or have anything I could attach any positive value to

unlike Farrakhan , whose history I know a little more about and on whom I have a bit more information

Oh, sorry Msharmony, but I got those quotes wrong. Those were both quotes from Lewis Farrakhan. I guess you don't know as much about him as you thought?

"White people are potential humans - they haven't evolved yet."

"The Jews don't like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's a good name. Hitler was a very great man. He rose Germany up from the ashes."

Here are some more words of Farrakhan's "wisdom", which you must have somehow missed.

"The Jews have been so bad at politics they lost half their population in the Holocaust. They thought they could trust in Hitler, and they helped him get the Third Reich on the road."

"Were they not involved in the slave trade? Yes, they were ... and to the extent that they were involved, somebody has to bring them to account. And I believe that has fallen on me."

"They call (Hezbollah) terrorists, I call them freedom fighters. No one asks why they would do such a thing. Why would they do such a thing? What has driven them to this point? That's what the UN, the U.S. and Europe doesn't want to deal with because the Zionists have control in England, in Europe, in the United States and around the world."

"The white man is our mortal enemy, and we cannot accept him. I will fight to see that vicious beast go down into the late of fire prepared for him from the beginning, that he never rise again to give any innocent black man, woman or child the hell that he has delighted in pouring on us for 400 years."

no problem, I dont think I claimed to know every word he has ever spoken,,, and some of what you posted I agree with and some I don't

he is far from perfect, and I am not in agreement with him about white people as a group, but I do usually agree with him about the HISTORY of things and the part sub groups have played and continue to play

and I do appreciate the wisdom he has on other topics

'If I fall short of a persons demands they may be disappointed but it better for them to be disappointed in me than me disappointed in myself ' Farrakhan

'And I hope that five years and 10 years from now, I'll be a better man, a more mature man, a wiser man, a more humble man and a more spirited man to serve the good of my people and the good of humanity. '
Louis Farrakhan

'You must recognize that the way to get the good out of your brother and your sister is not to return evil for evil. '
Louis Farrakhan

The key word being history. Either way they can still only ask to be treated special or equally not both.

the request has always been to be treated EQUALLY, but what has been delivered has been so UNEQUAL as to need SPECIAL ATTENTION in correcting,,,

If I have three children and I feed two and give the third scraps,, the time will come when , to have EQUAL health, that third child will need some special attention

Except many black people today know nothing about being a slave. So that analogy doesnt fit.

no but every single one of them faced abusive treatment and racism were scalped dragged by horses just because Americans did not like them or want them here......and they were made to be subservient to higher classes of Americans...and suffered abuse as well.....you were not treated that way your ancestors were and the other classes do not treat you that want their ancestors did hundreds of years ago....yes you faced racism in the aftermath but so did many other cultures IE Italian Asian Jewish Irish and American Indian and yes the American Indian was treated just as poorly for as many generations and made to act in subservience.......
