constitution doesnt try to tell you you go to hell if you dont believe

If you dont believe, why does it matter where it says you will go?

the part that is sickening to me is the fact that 99% of all the wars in history have been over religious beliefs...
some of the most disgusting in the name of christianity...
over a book that was written because of humans fear of mortality..
walk down the street its pushed on you.
clinics bombed, etc..over and over again..
im a firm believer that everyone has a righr to believe what they want until thet try to force it on me...ive studied the bible, ive studied many other religions also..i didnt just grab a book blindly....and after all that i came to my own conclusion...just sick of seeing the violence done on behalf of a pipe dream

Humans are stupid, for the most part. Get used to it.
and...ah...Welcome to Earth.

I completely agree with you there. No one is trying to force any belief on anyone here though. He came to a christian forum, and i'm just giving facts out of the bible. If he doesn't agree or even want to agree then why is he reading this forum in the first place? There is something that brings him here and i'm trying to start the fire out of the little spark that brought him here in the first place.

"facts out of the bible"?? The only facts out of the bible would be the accuracy of the page numbers. The rest is opinion and belief. Believing in something does not make it a fact.

The Constitution was written by men and most americans choose to take it quite seriously.

the constitution is law, not religious doctrine. the constitution is founded on the principle of equal liberty for all. most religions, christianity in particular, suggest unequal liberties for believers and non believers. believers will have the liberty of salvation and to go to heaven. non believers will not enjoy such liberties. the only simularity between the bible and the constitution envolves consequences. both documents allow for consequences if one does not take them seriously. one fines or encarceration. the other hell. i'll go with the liberties afforded me by the constitution over the arrogant exclusivity and superiority of the bible.

Law is doctrine. Constitution is mans laws and religion is Gods laws. The constitution grants equal liberty to the AMericans to which it applies and religion grants liberties to the BELIEVERS to which it applies. The constitution is exclusive to americans and the bible is exclusive to believers. I am not seeing the huge dissimilarity. I choose to follow the laws written by men but inspired(according to them) by God. I also follow the rules written by man and inspired(according to them) by their quest for equality(although many had slaves at the time and the constitution did not apply equally for them.) I have no ill will towards those who choose not to believe and am puzzled by what seems like such a defensive tone from many who claim to not be believers. Santa says if I am not good I wont get gifts, if I dont believe in Santa,,why would that offend me or otherwise upset me?......

Now this is weird. I agree that there are many people out there who take scientific claims 'on faith' and who use scientific beliefs to find their place in the universe, to give them a sense of security; they have an entire 'belief system', based on faith, built around scientific claims. These people exist.

This does not make science itself a religion in any way shape or form. The previous paragraph says something about those people, it says nothing about science itself or the scientific process.

... but then you go on to comment on scientists themselves, and the devotion they put to their research. I don't see the point. You are talking about the degree of commitment they have to an activity. My neighbor is supremely devoted to mowing his lawn every weekend. I don't see how this is relevant.

I would think that God's first thought was: I AM!

I would also ask God to make fate just a tiny bit less obtrusive into the lives of everyone.

I would think that God's first thought was: I AM!

a thought takes time to form ...so if God had a first thought it would show that he is under the constraints of time and therefore not infinite

infinity ends when consciousness begins because the point of consciousness marks a point in time or a beginning ...which is written in the bible as "In The Beginning" that is why the bible can be viewed as what documents the beginning of when God acheived consciousness and not that God "always was"

so...if you could split or copy yourself and you had sex with your other self, would that be homosexual sex or just masturbation?
