We have allways had a mixed economy in this country, since the great depression anyhow we get into trouble when one class (the rich) manage to rob the wealth of the middle class. If we didnt have social saftey nets in place we would have a revelution in this country and the poor would be busting down the gates of gated communities and raiding their refrigerators roasting their steaks with the wood broken from the rose wood staircases.

How do the rich are able to rob the wealth of the middle class?

How about gas prices? how about the war in Iraq that enriched a few and bankrupted the many. How about the tax laws that favored the wealthy under bush. Come on no games your smarter than that. I am out for the night. you can have the last word

Yes, how about that? All I am asking you is how is that being accomplished.

You do bring the examples. That is not enough. Tell me how are they able to do that.

Look at history. Social programs drain the middle class. NOT the upper class.

10 things you should know about Obama's plan (but probably don't)

The plan:

1. Makes a $634 billion down payment on fixing health care that will go a long way toward paying for a more efficient, more affordable health care system that covers every single American.

2. Reduces taxes for 95% of working Americans. And if your family makes less than $250,000, your taxes won't go up one dime.

3. Invests more than $100 billion in clean energy technology, creating millions of green jobs that can never be outsourced.

4. Brings our troops home from Iraq on a firm timetable, finally bringing the war to a close—and freeing up almost ten billion dollars a month for domestic priorities.

5. Reverses growing income inequality. The plan lets the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans expire and focuses on strengthening the middle class.

6. Closes multi-billion-dollar tax loopholes for big oil companies.

7. Increases grants to help families pay for college—the largest increase ever.

8. Halves the deficit by 2013. President Obama inherited a legacy of huge deficits and an economy in shambles, but his plan brings the deficit under control as soon as the economy begins to recover.

9. Dramatically increases funding for the SEC and the CFTC—the agencies that police Wall Street.

10. Tells it straight. For years, budgets have used accounting tricks to hide the real costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Bush tax cuts, and too many other programs. Obama's budget gets rid of the smokescreens and lays out what America's priorities are, what they cost, and how we're going to pay for them.

This is the change we voted for.

exactly (well almost). social programs give you just enough to stay where you are while hurting those that have to pay for them. They in no way allow people to move up, only down. The rich often still can maintain even with tax hikes. The upper middle class, however, oftentimes cannot.

Fanta and Winx,

That is the change you have voted for?

You could have said, that you voted for something better, and are not sure what is it that Obama is doing. But, you seem to like the plan, specifically.

Well then.

None of this discussion posting will be up, by the time it all fails. Just remember you have approved the specific plan, and there is no one to blame.

I can't save you, folks. And something tells me, that 10 years down the road, you'd still find someone to blame. There is going to be someone, who "made sure" that the plan wasn't allowed to succeed.

The plan:

1. Makes a $634 billion down payment on fixing health care that will go a long way toward paying for a more efficient, more affordable health care system that covers every single American.

I like my healthcare as it is. I don't feel I should have to pay for everyone to have it and watch the quality of mine diminish but that's another thread.

2. Reduces taxes for 95% of working Americans. And if your family makes less than $250,000, your taxes won't go up one dime.

too bad the majority of those getting cuts hire zero workers. Tax cuts don't help the unemployed. The ones getting the hikes are those that will have to lay off workers later on to keep the bottom line black.

3. Invests more than $100 billion in clean energy technology, creating millions of green jobs that can never be outsourced.

Why? what great benefit does this have right now? how many new jobs will be created now?

4. Brings our troops home from Iraq on a firm timetable, finally bringing the war to a close—and freeing up almost ten billion dollars a month for domestic priorities.

Small beans compared to everything else. Saving $120B there does not make up for the $1,750B budget deficit.

5. Reverses growing income inequality. The plan lets the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans expire and focuses on strengthening the middle class.

This will not help the middle class. If a business owner has to pay 4% more in taxes, they're going to make at least 3% in cuts. Guess where the easiest place is to cut in a corporation.

6. Closes multi-billion-dollar tax loopholes for big oil companies.

See number 5 above. Add on higher gas prices because input costs just went up. If there's a price ceiling in place, expect shortages.

7. Increases grants to help families pay for college—the largest increase ever.

College is not for everyone and it's already not worth the paper the degree is written on. They need to realize that. Now I have to pay for others to go because I'm already not paying enough for just myself.

8. Halves the deficit by 2013. President Obama inherited a legacy of huge deficits and an economy in shambles, but his plan brings the deficit under control as soon as the economy begins to recover.

$1.75T. I really don't think this requires any other explanation other than the fact his idea of half is still a lot more than any of the first 7 years of the bush administration that was bad enough.

9. Dramatically increases funding for the SEC and the CFTC—the agencies that police Wall Street.

If they don't listen to a guy that tells them about a scandal for 20 years, they're beyond help. Here's an idea, lessen the regulation and we'll cut the costs. That should help with that mythical halving of the deficit.

At least I get to know exactly how I'm getting ****ed. We'll see if this actually happens though. He can claim transparency all he wants because the truth is only a fraction of a percentage point of Americans actually read that stuff.

You can not help anybody, by robbing somebody else.
If helping some class involves robbing other class, I don't want to touch that with a nine foot pole.

****'s going to hit the fan pretty quick. We're quickly approaching a 1:1 GDP to debt ratio and eventually, he'll realize that taxing the rich and corporations that form the backbone of the middle-class workforce. They're not going to sacrifice their bottom line when they can just fire a few employees and make everyone else work harder.

I'm sorry, this is where I have to disagree with you and question your reasoning.

Rich people and corporations are NOT, I repeat NOT, the backbone of this country. They are the rapists of our country. To open saying Obama doesn't understand economics is laughable at best.

Economics is defined as a social science concerned chiefly with description and analysis of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.

Corporations and the "rich" have broken this system down at a fundamental level. You say they can't simply fire a few employees and make everybody else work harder but that is the trend anymore and government had nothing to do with it. Pay low, sell high, and pocket the difference has been the business model of choice lately and here is a news flash... It doesn't work.

"a social science concerned chiefly with description and analysis of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services." Notice how distribution and consumption are two of the three operative words? Big business has created a vicious cycle. You don't have people to distribute your products to for consumption if you STARVE them to death. Nobody wants to hire---hiring freezes are the new black---and nobody wants to pay decent. Then they blink in amazment when nobody buys their precious products. Then they freak out and assume it must be from external forces and stop investing in the economy. Now you have a bunch of greedy, paranoid, rich people stagnating the economy by sitting on their fat mountain of cash.

There ARE no get rich quick schemes. This is as true for corporations as it is for the common man. You cannot manipulate the system and NOT expect dire concequences.

This country was built by small businesses and the WORKING man. Not corportations and the rich.

Hogwash.

Taxes arent theft. If they are then the middle class has been robbed from for far too long.

Robbing other classes... Hyperbole.
