The Philippines were an American territory until 1946.
After WWII.

So realistically you are saying American vets dont deserve compensation.

Come on.
You dont mean that!

This is a president out of touch with the economy.

Fine. cut $30B in tax breaks to the oil companies. You just cost America jobs. cut the subsidies to the lenders. You just cut off credit to many - those subsidies were a perk to looser lending practices (so I guess this is a good thing IMO).

Cutting off subsidies to the banks will not make college cheaper because the costs of college are determined by the college, not the bank. even with the public schools, $50B will not go far and as it is, schools are overcrowded. College isn't meant for everyone. It is for the brightest students to continue to better themselves. If everyone starts getting their BS/BA, then it will be worth even less.

Obama needs to learn real quick that we don't have this money. We didn't have it under Bush and we sure as hell don't have it now. I mean, with Bush, last year was the worse spending deficit in history. Obama just topped that by $500B with his budget proposal alone - let alone the stimulus and other bills being forced through.

****'s going to hit the fan pretty quick. We're quickly approaching a 1:1 GDP to debt ratio and eventually, he'll realize that taxing the rich and corporations that form the backbone of the middle-class workforce. They're not going to sacrifice their bottom line when they can just fire a few employees and make everyone else work harder.
Allow me to wake YOU up to THIS ECONOMY,,,WE ARE IN A DEPRESSION COVERED UP WITH SMOKE and MASS MONEY FEARS..
Every since the BUSH administration first went public with its efforts to bail out all the corporations behind the stocks and investment groups. WALL STREET WAS FALLING,(FAILING) so the government HAD TO try and save that from happening, since the Reagan times have saved it twice before,,,NOW,,,there was and is no save for it,,,just the PACE it drops weekly.....

And we have LOST the BACKBONE companies in this country and they to are on a pacifier of monies that will run out and fail...soon
OUR WORLD HAS CHANGED HERE MY FRIEND,,,PLEASE,,step out of the box,,all the miedia radio shows and talk to these PEOPLE and the COMPANIES,,,and THEN talk about what the working class needs and is going...

On top of all that, when it comes time to withdraw troops from Iraq, I predict, most will go on to other wars if, they aren't scheduled for discharge.
He decisively didn't go into detail about the troops.
Has he decided where the inmates in Guantanamo Bay will be relocated? Perhaps, his definition of creating jobs is to open a Federal Prison somewhere in the States to house them.

They will get a rest before going where they should have been all along.
Many of the soldiers want to go, but Im afraid they are in for a wake-up. The taliban are not Iraqis. They know how to fight and the terrain will not be our soldiers ally.

Draft, Draft, Draft!!!!

Ok, you have this one.
Today, only about about 15,000 of those troops are still alive.
The math adds up on this one.

Isn't it funny, not, that when Bush was pooring billions into the war in Iraq the republicans were too cool with it but when the spending is for the American people, to make this country stronger and better, they have an issue with it.huh noway
I know it makes my skin crawl when I think about it

they are currently building a clean coal power plant here

the CO2 will be sequestered and piped to the oil field where it will be injected into the wells to force more oil to the surface (enhanced recovery)

supposedly there will be zero emissions from the coal plant

They tried to sell that bull here in Ft Stockton. It got a big rise from the locals.
Run 'em outta' town.
Not enough evidence that it is a healthy option.
I am with Green Mountain, pure wind energy. Can't get any cleaner than that.

Wind Turbines?

Oh yeah. There's the future for most of the country.
It wont work here though Im afraid.
Too many trees. Tall Trees, and very little wind in the summer.

We have plenty of rivers though.
For some reason we also have plenty of Nuke Power Plants.

But see, this is why I disagree with the energy policy being forced on us. Wind turbines don't work in wooded areas, solar would suck in seattle, hydroelectric won't work here in the desert. Every landscape is different and requires a different approach. I think that while promoting green energy is a noble cause, it is far more expensive and should not be a priority while we are down and out.

Again, this is why I promote the idea of sovereign states under one flag over the centrist government that we are allowing the last few presidents to build. There is no reason for the federal government to dig into generic policies that would be much more efficiently written by individual states. This nation is too diverse for a blanket answer.

reading back, that's way OT. sorry lol.

That is the policy Andrew. There are many alternatives, and depending upon where they may be Nuke Power, wind turbines, Hydro, solar, Geothermal, etc.
Somewhere in S. Calif they are using reflectors to heat water into steam. Its new and still being built.
I'll see if I can find a link.

The working class does not provide jobs - the wealthy do. The artificially inflated (from the "boom") unemployment rate is what most fear and the answer is real jobs. Needless spending on green technologies and pork is not going to create jobs efficiently. Yes, there are going to be jobs created with pork but too much of the bill is new spending and not expansion in current ventures. The rate of return when you have to supply a building, administrative staff, and equipment is far lower than when you expand a current venture that already has most of these needs fulfilled.

We are not in the least in a depression. The reason for the stock market volatility has been the uncertainty of the government's hand in all of this. If the government had done nothing, we would already have hit bottom and would begin recovering in the next quarter or two. Since nobody would allow that to happen, we turned to socialization and nationalization which I can guarantee will prolong the problem. We may see an upswing in the near future from the boost in consumer confidence, but it will not be long lasting. We've effectively put a $1.5T band-aid over a gunshot wound. eventually, the market will fall again and we will either truly fall into depression or we'll have another Carter administration with 20% prime rates and 13% inflation to curb the fall.

When digging in our economy, and attempting to break it down, i saw a system that was never meant to last. It was just temporary. The problem with the economy, when you find out how it works, beginning to end, didn't begin, and won't end, with the downfall of key big businesses. In fact, that just gives smaller businesses room to grow, providing there is NO INTERFERENCE FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES ( U.S. government).

The problem stemed from have a debt based system. Fiat money, has never lasted very long. That's what we use. Your federal reserve notes (american dollars), have never represented value. Instead they represent DEBT. This is because the central bank, or Federal Reserve, prints money, then loans it to banks at an interest rate. Printing the money causes inflation, which decreases purchasing power, and loaning it out implies that it needs to be paid back with interest. That's the problem. If 100% of our money is loans how are we going to pay the interest?

The answer for a while was called the fractional reserve system. This allows any bank to create money via loans, from just about nothing. This kept the system going.

This is why we were taken off the gold/silver standard, so they can keep printing more money. The amount of money printed must increase every year or the system will start to collapse.

But if you do the math, Principal/ (principal + interest), you will find that its mathmatically impossible for the system to work permanently.

This is where our problem stems from. This also explains the phony "stimulus packages" and how they only, at best, provide temporary relief, followed by an even worse problem.

First we treat the disease, then we treat the sympoms. The sympoms, which damage the middle class, are social programs. You know, like social security, medicare, etc. These weed out our middle class no matter how many people they might help. Then take practically all the restrictions off the market, to let it grow.
