Update, Nov. 1: The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.

Update Nov. 1: The Associated Press quoted Chiyome Fukino as saying that both she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

Fukino also was quoted by several other news organizations. The Honolulu Advertiser quoted Fukino as saying the agency had been bombarded by requests, and that the registrar of statistics had even been called in at home in the middle of the night.

Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."

Why do mainstream media
persist in creating confusion over where Obama was born? Maybe it's because they have been confused by public officials such as Fukino.

'Seattle stinky poo' undermines Fukino's credibility

Andy's court hearing on November 18th may resolve questions (or maybe not)

This is what was shown as a certificate.

As you can see, this is a computer printout. This paper is not as old as is Obama.

This paper is only a result of a computer operation. It is not a witness to any event, because it wasn't around at the time of the event.

Yello, stained, worn document with signatures made at the time, was never produced.

This is how Hawaii birth certificate, issued back in those years looks like:

Notice, that a sample certificate is issued in 1963, not in 1961, when Obama was born.

Back even in 1963, as you can witness, they were using typewriters to fill out the cert.

Further, the original cert. contains signatures of parents, among others.

You didn't show the page that was embossed. I've seen it before.

I am almost the same age as him and mine looks like the first one that you showed. That's all that my state has for me.

It is the same document, that is embossed. (The first picture).

It is hard to see in a frontal view, but it is there. That is confirmed by many, including factcheck.

Here is another view at the same, you can see the embossed stamp:

It could very well be so. When an original certificate is filled out, it is on file with whatever the office that supposed to have it on file.

At some point, those original certificates were typed in a computer database, to make for easier reissuing, and searching.

When you request it later, to ease the burden on governmental paperwork, you may receive a computer generated copy.

This means, that your original certificate, is still on file.

Now, for you, it may make sense to never request the original.
-May-be you trust the government archive will never be raided or destroyed.
-May-be you do not care.

It is all your business. In any case, the computer printout (the short form), is probably well enough proof for any day-to-day and few times in a lifetime purposes.

Now, if you were to be inaugurated as the president of the united states, it may make more sense to request an original certificate, even if only for a short time and then return it to the office.

Specifically, it makes even more sense to do so, when there are concerns and rumors regarding your supposed ineligibility. You're supposed to be legitimate beyond doubt, right? And, you supposed to be an unifier of your people, right?

So, what is the big deal?

Nogames,

How do even know if our original ones exist? I can't get mine. I needed one to renew my driver's license. That's all that I could get.

I apologize for horrible image placement errors, that screwed up the page, - fixed.

Here is a link to a forensic analysis of a computer copy of Obama's certificate:

http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/07/atlas-exclusive/comments/page/5/

Now, personally, I liked the analysis. Having a considerable digital imaging experience myself, I understand the terms and the logic of an author.

What doesn't make sense to me, is this:

Let us suppose that there is no original certificate on file, either because it is lost, or because it never existed.

Let us further assume that the Obama campaign, decided to produce the copy, by sending either existing database data, or the freshly entered data, to print.

Now, why would they need to do it several times?

For this reason, I tend not to question the copy shown. My suspicion therefore solely resides with lack of proof for the existence of the original, typewriter-filled and hand-signed certificate, and not with the copy.

How do we know if any of our original birth certificates exist? They have it all on computer now.

They probably just ignoring you. You can probably get your hands on it if you threatened to sue for it...

You and I are nobody.
Until we are ready to get inaugurated, that is.
