Ok so can anyone answer this for me please?
I need to file for child support but i live in indiana and he lives in kentucky so where do i file and is it two different courts for visitation and child support? Will they make me drive all the way to kentucky or will they make us meet half way when its his visitations?

Since you now live in Indiana you should be able to file it in the county you live in.

On visitations it will more than likely be a meet half way deal.

File in the county you live in...visitations will most likely be at a half way point...good luck

I didnt mean it that way.I mean how these guys get half their income took away every week or they get thrown in jail.

I just know that every dude I know that has to pay child support dont have a penny to their name and even their kids pretty much hate them. I believe in making men take responsibility for their kids. I dont have a problem with it.

Are you saying that they were poor already? Why did their kids hate them?

Because their momma had 3 kids and daddy wasnt able to get the job done in the sac anymore so momma divorced him and now hes gotta fork over the cash or go to jail. And Momma moved on to some other dude and she brainwashed the kids into hating daddy.

What everyone told you is correct, about meeting half way and filing in your county and state. They won't take half his income, CS payment are based on his income, the number of children and the bills the AP carries. And then they consider the amount of money it takes you to care for your children and meet somewhere in between.

Actually it all depends on more information about the situation between you two.

First were you two ever married and if so is the divorce final.

Second have you always lived in Indiana and was your child born there.

For it all depends which state has jurisdiction over the case in the first place.

If in fact you lived with him at that time and then later moved to Indiana then he could very well file for and emergency custody case within his state and force you to move back. That is if you have not lived in the state long enough to have it considered your home state. Most states require that the child has at least lived within the state for at least 6 months prior to any court orders.

It would be best to contact and Attorney to make sure the laws between the state you live in and the state that the father lives in. To determine who actually has jurisdiction over the case itself.
