I am proeducation. More education would mean the choice would be made BEFORE pregnancy.

Ummm...yeah! Kids get very little mentoring in ANYTHING these days that doesn't come from media or advertising and the fact is that sex sells...

...and so the cycle has evolved and NO ONE wants to take responsibility. The NIMBY effect. We should all hang our heads in shame.

There are MANY reasons why a woman might think that abortion is the best thing to do..it should be left up to the person depending on the circumstances..it is not fair to the mother OR to the child to force her to go through with the pregnancy..in cases like mine where my child would be disabled..I've already lived this life..I know exactly what my child would have to go through if I had one and I would not want an innocent baby to live like I do..I am 29yrs old and I've had 30 surgeries..the first 2 immediately at birth..it is WRONG to force a child to live a life of pain and hospital rooms and etc..THAT is not a life..it is an existance..a miserable one..My parents had no clue that I'd be born this way..I on the other hand am fully aware that there is a 50/50 chance that the child would be born like me..that would be cruel.
Bottom Line:Do what is right for YOU!

And if abortion is made illegal, we will have completed the circle which prompted Roe v Wade....women will be forced to get hackers and many lives will be lost.

Why does this country regress?

When I attended college and lived in a dorm., a few girls gave themselves abortions with hangars. They all ended up in the ER, of course. Once we found an aborted fetus in the trashcan.

There were very few places to obtain abortions in MO in 1979.

It is difficult to separate this issue from one's belief system. It also cannot help from raising medical questions regarding the physical well being of the mother as well as emotional and spiritual concerns.

Bottom line, who has a right to make these decisions for another? Where is this line drawn? Not only on this issue but on others as well.

Well said.flowerforyou

There are quite a few days that I think that, yes,I have some "ok days" but they are few and far in between..I have spent more of my life in hospital beds being poked and proded and stuck like a pin cushion than I have in my own bed..I've almost died twice..I have a wonderful mother and a great brother and a few pretty good friends..if it weren't for them..no I wouldn't want to be here at all..they are the reason I continue to struggle to try and stay here.

BTW, whats up with the conservatives calling pro-choicers pro-abortion? That really pisses me off.grumble

I dislike the term "prolife" especally when most who call themselve "prolife" are for the death penalty & the war in Iraq. That's not "prolife" its "anti abortion".

i consider my self indiferent when it comes to this topic. I would hope someone who has a healthy fetus and there are no complications with the pregnancy would keep the child. I dont like it when a couple "accidentally" get pregnant and use abortion as a form of birth control. In the case of rape I think it should be ok to let the woman chose, or if the mother has or would have health issues. It should be the womans choice.

So I guess i would say pro life if those are the only 2 choices i have.

Now on the subject of the death penalty and war they have absolutly nothing to do with this topic and every time it is brought up someone allways adds war and the death penalty in it. it kinda irritates me when that happens TOTALLY DIF TOPIC!!!!

If the topic is "prolife" it certainly is relevant. Of course if the topic is "abortion" than it isn't.

We are all pro life and we are all pro choice. The actual question is whether or not you believe abortion in the right circumstances, are justified and if the government has ANY right to make that decision for the people as a whole.

Myself, I don't agree with abortion and feel if the child cannot be cared for, after birth it can be placed in a clinic and eventually a foster home. On the other hand I don't feel the government should take away the freedoms of those people who feel differently, as tragic as it is.

this topic is extremely personal to me..
i have had an abortion.
say what you will... i had "enough" children already that i was raising on my own (their father walked out after 7 years and has not taken responsibility since), i was raped.. there was no way that i could aford the time off of work that it would have taken me to have the baby with my income being the only thing supporting my family... and there was no way that i thought i could support another mouth at that point, and adoption would have been a choice, but again the time off of work would have been to much at that point..
i think about that decision nearly every day...
the guilt eats me up inside.. and though i do not beleve i made the "wrong" decision.. i do beleve that some times there is no "right choice".

and i hope that anyone who would judge others for the decisions that they make, would never have to spend the time to walk a mile in their shoes.

You did what was right by you, nobody could've reasonably expected anything different. You have my sympathies for what you had been through.
