Topic: I have an agend, what's yours | |
---|---|
Hi Red, I have 2 agendas.
1St: I just love to learn about people. Since religion/spirituality is such a deep and personal decision, I am naturally curious about it & why they choose to believe or not to believe something. 2nd: To defend the right for each of us to make this decision for ourselves. There are no definitive answers about the possible existence of a God/Gods. I am personally an atheist but, it was my journey and choice that brought me to that decision. Take Care |

Actually, when I first started posting here, I was rather naive, and figured I was going to participate in a collective reconstitution of the great greek forums, where everyone would seek to elevate spirit and intellect to new altruistic summits.
Yea, wow, isn't that strange, that was my first intent too. Do you know how much we all miss you when you ... go sailing? I agree with you Much like grade scholl backyard 'gangs', there is true solidarity, respect, admiration, and friendship which builds out of all the 'rescuing' friends', and 'being rescued' by friends, from all the 'bullies' in the 'fanatical' backyard.
But isn't that how the best friendships are forged? Why, I've even had friends I don't actually like much, but they were always there for me, so I repaid with my loyalty. That's just the way it should, don't you think? |

I believe my agenda is just sharing my view point. I have been told though that I am not atheist and I have no religious belief to speak of. So I choose to go labelless..lol I too was raised both catholic and baptist and I have read into some of the other religions.
I have shared the freeing of my soul the day I realized that "trying" to "fit" a religion was actually shackling to my "soul". I feel the freedom of my spirit now that I have left the constrictions of the man made religions alone. I wish for others to feel this freedom and for them to realize that religions can be dangerous for people because it is a form of brain washing. I could decide which part of your words to quote so I quoted them all. In my view you have been true to your agenda. I don't think I have ever seen you fail to share your point of view with the feelings you had about those points. They have always provided something to related to and sometimes a new path for an aging topic. I like your agenda! |

Abra, I'm really glad you liked the thread. Did you notice Eljay actually agreed with you on something - not even a single 'but'. Wow! Must be a good thread.

Sometimes I feel like the abominable Christian because I just don't fit into either category completely. I think I have so many agendas that they have a tendency to cancel themselves out. I have many Atheist friends and they help to save me from myself.
I really hope you are writing your memoirs. I'll bet with your slant and the way you tell a story, they would be greatly received. I hope I prove to be a worhty atheist friend, in spite of my agenda. |

But we just don't see you near enough in these threads. You are a quality writer, I like reading you, so post some more - ok? |

I hope I prove to be a worhty atheist friend, in spite of my agenda. I consider you to be a good friend, I work with an Atheist coworker and sometimes she just cracks me up. Just the other day she told me that she doesn't believe in God and after I told her to pray for me she told me that she doesn't pray. The other night I heard her say, "Good God" and it cracked me up because she doesn't believe in God. I think you have some wonderful thought provoking entrees and they make me think. Which you should take as a compliment for all the drugs I used to do. It is a wonder that there are any brain cells left. |

Quickstepper Agenda? I have no "agenda."
This is a religion board. I didn't create it but I come here to share my faith. That's all. I'm glad you're admitting that you come from a hostile attitude toward Christianity & people of THAT faith. It took me 40 years to figure women out. Now I'm a lesbian, I just give them flowers and a smile. It took you all of 40 yrs given your a woman? Talk about a contradiction???? LOL |

My only confusion is the same since I started in this religion forum. If the atheist, non-christian, pantheist or whatever you want to call it have reached such level of enlightment to render christianity and christians delusional why they feel so threatened? Well Protestants, Catholics, Jews and Muslims have been killing each other for eons. They are threatening to have a horrific mother of all wars over the Middle East. I think atheists, non-christians, and pantheists have every right to ask them to stop it. It's our planet too! We live here. This sounds like a bigot to me. I'm so glad that you admit your hate since you're usually blaming Christians of hate. 'quikstepper', Maybe, just maybe... ... it's just a typo, and your pseudo is really 'qui(C)kstepper'. And of course 'quickstepper' might refer to your love and passion for the 'quickstep'!!! ... A lively style of ballroom dancing, SPIRITED, and engaging. How totally inspiring and enlightening that would be?!?!?! HUM!!! Hold on. Come to think of it, I must be totally wrong in assuming that about you!!! Never read anything 'lively', 'spirited' nor 'engaging' in any of your posts. Nothing christian like either. Awwww...now I'm insulted. LOL So what does that funnily spelled pseudonym mean anyhow?!?!? Maybe, ... just maybe, you could correct the spelling, and just as easily transform yourself into a 'spirited', 'enlightening', 'engaging' and 'loving' 'BALLROOM - QUICSTEPPER'. Ewwww.... now who's "judging?" LOL What a metaphor??? Don't you agree?!?!?! No...I like the attention. and yes...Quickstep & Samba are my FAV dances in ballroom. I had to come up with my own version of the word since others have used it. ...and yes...it does describe me well...quick & spirited. Sorry if you are offended but that works both ways & I'm only human. Besides what is left when people completely ignore God's divinity on these boards? I come to share my faith they distort the views & answers of many here...including myself. If you don't like my jokes then blame the material I get it from. LOL ...but YOU...have a great day! |

Wouldee :
Redy. Plain wrappers are better than fancy ones. the gift inside is made all the more delightful when not enhanced before it is unwrapped. LOL Agendas are always an excellent example of closed mindedness. Establishing the goal, excuting its manifestation and rationalizing its adequacy deepens the quest to justify every intent and willful brick building that house. agendas or not, this forum is a city, not a refuge. all agendas change nothing, it is still many little houses decorated s they are standing among all others and still, only a city from the outside looking in. Might be appealing at first glance from over the distant hills. might even conjure up a response that home has been found. The promised land is in sight. LOL Let's go down and seize it. LOL Nothing is going to change here, not by much. Rather, it depends more on which neighbors abandon their place first and relinguish their stake to the remainder and their backslappers. LOL Is that success? Is that what an agenda delivers? LOL CAlifornians humor me to no end. You and I are both such. We both know the Bay Area. So, follow me, redy...... Gas may be cheaper across the street at Rotten Robbie's, but still, many will go the Chevron station and pay more for their ges and for their coke and for their snack. LOL But if it is only water at the well that is sought, then why do not all drink, if in fact water can be only water? Same tap delivering it, and same water from the same source, but yet the water is better at the Chevron? Only the better class believes that. LOL I can lead you to water, but you must drink, and only if you choose. Likewise, redy. It goes both ways. LOL AGENDAS, indeed. Let's choose sides LOL 1)Science and learning and all according to the pursuit of the better mousetrap and the louder whistle and the wittiest invention do distract but for only the best and the brightest. Go team, Go!!!!!!!!!! LOL 2)Jesus and his living word and his righteousness applauded do also encourage and inspire those so enamored and the Holy Spirit is the gift that only the Christian need as proof that Jesus is the best God has to offer. And to that end, the best and the brightest are apprehended of, lest they slip. Go team Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I have tipped my hand , haven't I? LOL I gave one team more exclamation points. I am so unfair. LOL I must have an agenda! LOL QuickStepper LOL... too funny
I'm sorry Wouldee, have I misunderstood you? Was your intent in this post to be amusing in a Quickstepper sort of way? I didn't necessarily see that. I thought you were showing an intellectual distaste for what had transpired on a previous post. Sometimes I'm still naive, I admit it, because sometimes I find it difficult to associate some peoples intellect with others. I think, for now, I'll give you my original credit and allow Quickstepper a her laugh at my expense. After all, no one said making people laugh would be a paying gig. there you go...ASSUMING again.... Playing mindreader wannabe now too??? It so happens that I get a real kick out of the way wouldee writes. It's really a poor excuse to point of finger & petty too. |

My agenda is to defend peoples beliefs. Too many times do I come on the religion forums and see someone tell someone else that their beliefs are wrong. There is no right or wrong when it comes to beliefs, thats why they are beliefs. Religion can not be proven or disproved so all we have is our beliefs.
As for the person who started this thread, you say you came to tell people what their beliefs really are. How dare you assume that you know someones beliefs better than them. You may know what their religion teaches, but that doesn't mean you know their personal beliefs. I have disagreements with somethings my church teaches and don't believe everything they do, but I still call it my church. |

There is no right or wrong when it comes to beliefs, thats why they are beliefs. Religion can not be proven or disproved so all we have is our beliefs.
Sorry but I have to ask. Defend their beliefs or defend their right to them? As for the person who started this thread, you say you came to tell people what their beliefs really are. How dare you assume that you know someones beliefs better than them. You may know what their religion teaches, but that doesn't mean you know their personal beliefs. I have disagreements with somethings my church teaches and don't believe everything they do, but I still call it my church.
I started this thread, and I don't think you read it all. But that's ok, they do get long. I never try to tell people what their beleifs are or what they should be. I try to make people THINK, to open their eyes and their ears and their minds. To research, to discuss and NOT TO BE LED. I do defend a persons right to their beliefs, but I also defend the person who is lost and confused and easily led. The reason I do this, is because religion can be a dangerous set of matches to be played with. Religion should be a 'self-seeking' venture and people should be honest and anwer questions without any intention to lead but only to inform. What's more religion can make harsh judges of people, deny childen education, and spit in the face of other peoples rights, all because someone interpreted a book inadequately. Maybe Chazster, we are not so far from the same agenda after all. |

I think some people have evolved from apes. I've seen some who look like they did not quite reach homo-sapien status.
