Was about to go to bed and noticed the post. Wouldee and Kat, thanks, nice to see you two tonight.

Wouldee, I understand much of what you are saying. I don't agree agree with it, but I can see how it makes sense to you and in some respects I can accept some of it.

There is one thing I can't accept. When there is a conflict between the flesh and the spirit, it is usually with regard to "what is righteous". But what is right in the flesh may not always coincide with the spirit.

That is way (I think) we are asked to be sure, to be convinced of what we choose to believe. Because once we believe it, it becomes the basis from which sin is born.

To believe that we are spiritual beings first, and to KNOW we are hostage to a physical body, means we have to take the needs of this physical body into account. We can not live up to the perfection required of the spirit because the spirit is not of this realm.

Kat - here is an exmple of what I believe the verses are saying.

Many Christians still follow the ritual of Lent. The idea is to give up something of value or important to you, for a certian period of time. I work in a Bakery outlet and I can't tell you how MANY times I hear the following kinds of comments.

"" Wow, why are these suguar-free cookies so expensive ""

My responce, "most special dietarey needs are expensive"

followed by ""I can't wait till Lent is over and I can
eat sugar again.""

Now for some reason those people felt they were doing right. But were they? They didn't question what they were doing, so was it a sin? However, If I were a Christian who gave up ALL sweets for lent, I might be very highly offended and beleive that these people were sinful.

Who do you think had the stronger faith - the poeple who replace their sugar with sweetner, or the person who ate noting sweet at all, but judeged others based of their own perception of sin?

I have to say that the divisions between the soul and spirit are at the heart of the Holy Bible's pretext. It is not preserved and shared in it's posterity as a dietary guide for a healthy physical diet, but as a guide to the pursuit of the guidance of God to man for that which is more than the body.

Much the same as that which fills the temple is more than the temple.

Much the same as that which is in the cup is more than the cup itself.

Much the same as that which is God is more than that which is given to perceive is God.

Our bodies are temples, cups, and houses for perception. The errors learned are constrained to the corruptibility of the "vessel" that the incorruptibility of the "essence" may prosper and flourish unimpeded and undiluted.

Death by definition is the shedding of the by-product of the womb.(much as the placenta is itself also a metaphor as well as an example of the same depiction)

Life is depicted as a metamorphosis.

from a larvae (worm) to a creature of flight and grace, if you will. ( Isaiah66:24.,Mark9:44-46.,Job17:14., Job24:19-20.,Job25:6., and not the least of which has an allegory intended...Exodus16:22-26. flowerforyou

Nature has it's parables; allegorical and metaphoric, sometimes both and neither, simultaneously.

Dear Daddy from Heaven, give me the strength and the patience to read and hear all those who deny, diminish, and insult you, and remain calmed. I'm Father in a huge internal battle to control the who I am. So I won't go there and battle ignorance with ignorance. I'm not ready yet for the battlefield daddy. You want me to defend you as your son. And to do so you want me to be patient and to love those who are blinded by the enemy. I'm not ready yet Daddy. If I go in the middle of the battlefield I know I will be violent, and I will become one of them. Daddy please grant me the blessing of a bigger heart. Grant me the blessing that even those who don't believe they can see my eldest brother through me. Don't let me become an instrument of evil even for a good cause. I ask you all this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who lives and reigns in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

from "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas Kempis.

The Sixteenth Chapter
BEARING WITH THE FAULTS OF OTHERS
UNTIL God ordains otherwise, a man ought to bear patiently whatever he cannot correct in himself and in others. Consider it better thus -- perhaps to try your patience and to test you, for without such patience and trial your merits are of little account. Nevertheless, under such difficulties you should pray that God will consent to help you bear them calmly.

If, after being admonished once or twice, a person does not amend, do not argue with him but commit the whole matter to God that His will and honor may be furthered in all His servants, for God knows well how to turn evil to good. Try to bear patiently with the defects and infirmities of others, whatever they may be, because you also have many a fault which others must endure.

If you cannot make yourself what you would wish to be, how can you bend others to your will? We want them to be perfect, yet we do not correct our own faults. We wish them to be severely corrected, yet we will not correct ourselves. Their great liberty displeases us, yet we would not be denied what we ask. We would have them bound by laws, yet we will allow ourselves to be restrained in nothing. Hence, it is clear how seldom we think of others as we do of ourselves.

If all were perfect, what should we have to suffer from others for God's sake? But God has so ordained, that we may learn to bear with one another's burdens, for there is no man without fault, no man without burden, no man sufficient to himself nor wise enough. Hence we must support one another, console one another, mutually help, counsel, and advise, for the measure of every man's virtue is best revealed in time of adversity -- adversity that does not weaken a man but rather shows what he is.

Nasty weeds?? That sounded rude. Feral; what was that? I read you as christian. As a fellow believer, I felt unsulted by that remark.
Please explain.

Hi Debs,

Yes, I have been gardening today, more mulching -
the mulch pile is finally shrinking.

Not too many weeds in the garden today - it helps
when I can get out there a few minutes every evening.

Not to worry Kat, it is what it is - just weeds.

I shall be posting some pics in a couple of weeks
so you can see the garden this year.

It is taking shape. flowerforyou flowerforyou

2 Timothy 2:14-16
Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,

1 Timothy 6:20-21
Guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called "knowledge" -- which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things
