When the Fed was created the US Gov took control of all gold from private holders. These private holders had driven the country into recession after recession, and more than one depression. Gold did not stop the frequent economic meltdowns. In fact the economy has never been lore stable than since the creation of the FED. There are so many related problems with private ownership of the country's gold it isnt funny. Too many to list here. When the Gov confiscated the gold from private holdings it pissed a lot of people off. At first they tried to reclaim their gold by force. They planned a coup of the US Gov under FDR to undo the FED. It was unsuccessful thanks to a Patriotic Gen Smedley Butler. In 1934, he alleged to the United States Congress that a group of wealthy industrialists had plotted a military coup known as the Business Plot to overthrow the government of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Now! IMO, this same group backs Ron Paul and his mostly unpopular rhetoric. They still want to control the gold and therefore set the price according to their greed. What a bunch of propaganda. Care to show us some evidence that the economy got more stable after the gold was stolen from Americans, and specifically as a result of that? Sometimes I wonder if Fanta reads PRAVDA. Cause he lays it out like a young pioneer. |

...the apparent misconception is that Texas laws allow people to just open fire if someone steps one foot on someone's property and that isn't the case That is how it should be. Easy to take care of: don't step one foot on someone private property. |

Go to a junk yard, and pay attention to the mileage. On the American side, you will see 70 to 95 thousand miles. On the foreign side you will see numbers ranging from 150 to 300 thousand.
Of course, you can simply invent an excuse. But my old boss (an auto shop), told me to do this and to not be stupid. I did, and bought a foreign. Never looked with desire at this horrifying evidence of a complete lack of brains: ![]() |

We have more corporate loop holes for them to jump out of paying taxes. Then there is no reason the producers are running away for such a welcome place. We could lower corporate tax by supplementing it with the tariffs collected on Chinese Made products at the docks! Not really. (I am not supporting the spending of liberals, but for the sake of this argument:) If you remove taxes and install tariffs, then the manufacture (as you insist) will move back in. So, you will have no tax revenues, and no tariffs to replace them. Then you will try to grab people's money again, by returning the taxation. How else are you going to fund the socialism? |

What is a protective tariff? It is a tax, on those who live inside, but dares to purchase from outside.
Protective tariff says: "I hope you enjoy being a citizen, because now you no longer have a freedom of choice. You are to buy and use what you are told, not what you choose." A typical result of such tariffs, is that the people are now going overseas for shopping. It will make sense to go visit Berlin to buy the BMW there, and not getting stuck with a Chrysler here. When such becomes the normal, expected occurrence, then the next thing Nazis will do, is to prohibit Americans from bringing imported items home, without paying the "equalizing tariff" at the border, thus officially making US citizens a second grade human beings. How do I know? Every socialist country already went through that. The logic of tariff supporters is always the same: "We need to force our people to pay more for foreign goods. If we can not make our goods better and more attractive, then we will make foreign good worse and less attractive by forcing their prices up". That is an incorrect logic. One cannot make himself better by making others worse. Btw: Q: ---How does a tariff supporter gets a bigger house? A: ---He bulldozes down a part of a neighbor's house. |

Actually I think it just depends on who your asking. The article in the OP says $54. Well, I prefer the highest figure I ever heard, as it is exemplary of a ridiculous situation when a country is forced to bail out the rich auto-industry, who after all, move the production overseas. As you are trying to assist the bailing out of rich and their move of American jobs overseas, I would see how you'd use the lowball number. |

Put back in Fair Trade, protect American jobs through tariffs, and the big three's problems are over. B.S. How is that going to improve their quality? You do that, and you freaking guarantee them their money. Now, that their money guaranteed, they couldn't care less about quality or anything else. Case in point: Heavily unionized, protected auto-industry of USSR. Last time I have a chance of seeing their cars and trucks, they sucked. Everyone knows they sucked most ever since they become trade-protected. |

I've heard $75 and even higher from other sources. These auto workers really did forked money over into their pockets like it was autumn leaves.

A car, yes, not some trash. (Like I said above, Tahoe and Subs are exception).
There is nothing that they make, that interests me, as for Tahoe and Suburban, there were always other ones, I wanted more at the moment. |
