Here is the excerpt from the huffingtonpost link:

Finally, there remains the question of detainees at Guantanamo who cannot be prosecuted yet who pose a clear danger to the American people.

I want to be honest: this is the toughest issue we will face. We are going to exhaust every avenue that we have to prosecute those at Guantanamo who pose a danger to our country. But even when this process is complete, there may be a number of people who cannot be prosecuted for past crimes, but who nonetheless pose a threat to the security of the United States. Examples of that threat include people who have received extensive explosives training at al Qaeda training camps, commanded Taliban troops in battle, expressed their allegiance to Osama bin Laden, or otherwise made it clear that they want to kill Americans. These are people who, in effect, remain at war with the United States.

As I said, I am not going to release individuals who endanger the American people. Al Qaeda terrorists and their affiliates are at war with the United States, and those that we capture - like other prisoners of war - must be prevented from attacking us again. However, we must recognize that these detention policies cannot be unbounded. That is why my Administration has begun to reshape these standards to ensure they are in line with the rule of law. We must have clear, defensible and lawful standards for those who fall in this category. We must have fair procedures so that we don't make mistakes. We must have a thorough process of periodic review, so that any prolonged detention is carefully evaluated and justified.

I know that creating such a system poses unique challenges. Other countries have grappled with this question, and so must we. But I want to be very clear that our goal is to construct a legitimate legal framework for Guantanamo detainees - not to avoid one. In our constitutional system, prolonged detention should not be the decision of any one man. If and when we determine that the United States must hold individuals to keep them from carrying out an act of war, we will do so within a system that involves judicial and congressional oversight. And so going forward, my Administration will work with Congress to develop an appropriate legal regime so that our efforts are consistent with our values and our Constitution.

Note the amazing lying skills this guy has. He appears to tell us about terrorists.

Example:
Examples of that threat include people who have received extensive explosives training at al Qaeda training camps, commanded Taliban troops in battle, expressed their allegiance to Osama bin Laden, or otherwise made it clear that they want to kill Americans.

So, Obama, is ANY us soldier a fair target for foreign detention then, until such time that they are no longer a treat? He says, that simply because one has a training, qualifies him for detainment without charges. Expressed their allegiance to Osama? So, should other countries detain for ten years without any charges, anyone they can grab, of those who expressed their allegiance to Obama? "otherwise made it clear", well then you have your evidence, or, did they?

If I had health insurance I probably wouldn't give a rats ass if you had healthcare or not either. But, if me having it could help someone else get help...I wouldn't mind so much.
I don't have any. I am so sick right now. FIFTEEN DAYS sick. I cannot even see a Dr.. Emergency room is out. Ever deal with them when you are broke? Ever had to see the bill for it?

Prescriptions are a no no. Can't afford them either. I work, I have a job. I can't even get simple healthcare.

Times use to be where people helped others.

A good healthcare would assure us "without" at least some kind of Dr appointed evaluation. They are so expensive...me and others like me have to stay sick and hope for the best.

I am waiting anxiously for some help from someone! I don't give a crap if it Obama or Macain! Just find a way to get us some help.

Kat

What a bs. What prevents you from:

a) getting a job that comes with insurance?

b) make more money so that you can just buy your own insurance?

Why is it perfectly possible for me, but yet impossible for you? As for people helping each other, what exactly do you offer as your help for me? Or, is it only supposed to be in your favor, but we will call it "helping each-other", right?

he did not mention imprisonment that i noticed but the patriot act does make it a possibility

This is a cemetery speech. But the speech in question is in archive.

In one speech he talks like his administration is actually better than that of Bush. Touches on questionably legal sides to what Bushes team has done and the approaches they took.

The he says ONE TIME that sometimes, it isn't possible to bring any charges (i.e. the person is innocent), because either the bureaucrats have fncked up, or because there was never any evidence, and that those individuals can not be released from git-mo.

What he refers to is the hostages of family members of desired detainee. He wants to torture relatives and friends, spouses, to make someone else talk. Again, he touches on this only once, so if you're not listening, but instead slowly steaming with love to Obama, then you will be sure he was talking about terrorists.

Then he goes on about how it is necessary that not a single person could ever release them, and how it will take practically like two thirds of a country to make them free, by the time Obama is done with the law. He calls that his approach. He says this will be called "oversight", and how many different levels of it there will be to hold a person for 10 years.

This is simply bull****, because now he is simply patching your attention, he has already told you what he wanted to tell, and now no one can say he did it behind our backs.

He is a first class liar, master grade.

How is it possible not to have speakers. May-be not specifically speakers - speakers, but something that just works that way? There just so many things at home that go Yap. Green hole, try it.

Hell yeah, wasn't it funny how Obama tried to say two exactly opposing things at once? It was funny for me. I like watching him, since he is like a snake at all times. Polite and high-moral-road facade, but if you pay attention to what dirt this man is actually saying, you'd think he hadn't brush his teeth for a month!

This man has an inescapable, lingering stench of death attached to him.

in other words...those with the biggest nukes have the say?

Yes. Sadly. Sadly we are the ones hiding behind this schoolyard bully theory. We, the descendants of founding fathers, ended up being simply a bully, who respects only strength.

As with guns, the best way to equality with nuclear weapons (now that some irresponsible people have brought them out of their evil minds and into our world), is to allow each access to them.

Who opposes this idea? Us. Because if every state had nukes, we won't be able to roll through their independence wherever we feel like, to install the government we like.

I think at this point, us telling N.K. to stop is simply anti-american.

So, you have thought that Bush was the dictator?

Check out this Obama, who proposes to detain people for at least 10 years, simply because Obama thinks that these people "may" be a danger to us at some point in the future. No evidence, no courts, no charges.

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/630.html

Obama gives Memorial Day speech in which he praises the Constitution and simultaneously proposes indefinite imprisonment of those who have committed no crime but who the government thinks will do so in the future. That is a violation of the Constitution.

Have you not been following the current events in Russia? Maybe you have heard of Putin, do some research into how he has been running Russia. China is a communist nation, certain freedoms have been given to some in a very restricted manner, their is no freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion, or freedom of assembly, is that not communism? And as for the US we have never been closer to becoming a socialist nation that we are under obamanation.

Thomas,

Take a look at this: "Report ranks U.S. number 6 among police-state spying on its citizens. Only Russia, China, North Korea, Belarus, and the UK are worse."

The US dollar is not Russia’s basic reserve currency anymore. The euro-based share of reserve assets of Russia’s Central Bank increased to the level of 47.5 percent as of January 1, 2009 and exceeded the investments in dollar assets, which made up 41.5 percent.

The dollar has thus lost the status of the basic reserve currency for the Russian Central Bank.

Russia became one of the largest creditors of the US administration last year, the US Department of the Treasury said. Russia increased its investments in the debt securities of the US Treasury from $32.7 billion as of December 2007 to $116.4 billion as of December 2008.

================================

IMHO, Big Mistake, Ruskies! Not that they dropped USD, should have done so long time ago, but that they loaned so much to Uncle Sam. It didn't do any good to us, and it sure didn't do any good to Russians.

Russia stopped using the Dollar as its basic reserve currency. As the Federal Reserve creates obscene amounts of new money with nothing of value behind it, its purchasing power goes down, and other nations no longer want it.

Neither should you.

You've got to be kidding. This is all for school dropouts. None of it makes any sense.

Except, we simply do not have any evidence that Aliens were or were not on earth, and that humans did coexist with dinosaurs or did not.

You should have included this question:

Few Arabs organized 911, and successfully executed the 75% of their plans. At the same time a nation with countless interceptors and military and bureaucratic personnel that takes millions to account for, could not take down a single highjacked plane. You believe it?

I think you must believe in ghosts, to be able to trust the Bush story.

i am not a liberal, nor am i gay.

i do, however, fully support gay marriage; i'm also very saddened by this verdict. i had thought we were finally progressing...and then we take three steps back.

Church. People aren't any smarter now then when they were running around feeding "mad sea gods".

Our blessing is our curse. This means that we live by procreating, which is our blessing, but all evils that we ever encounter is due to a huge number of simply dumb people that is a general result of mass procreation. That, is our curse.

I just love it. These senseless mind-farts of illiterate idiots from some political party are actually called "ideas".

Are you kidding me?

Where is the "idea" in helping me with my health care by taxing my health care plan?

Can I similarly help you to save some money by spending a buck of your money for every buck you spend by yourself?

Really, folks, this does feel like an alternate universe already. If this BS about health care makes sense, then I must be a complete idiot, because to me it doesn't.

I think they don't so much want or need nuclear weapons as resent being told they can't have any. That kind of explicit discrimination ought to rankle anyone.

True, I know it would me mad in a second.

i look forward to that day. "that" lifestyle SHOULD be taught and discussed in school, as it exists. vilifying it doesn't make it go away.

um, and guy on guy is HOT.

Wow, can you please, apply for a supreme court position??? (I know, but...)

That is so cool to hear. Of course vilifying it won't make it go away. Finally, an open position that simply accepts reality, and at the same time doesn't object against anyone building their own version!

drinker drinker drinker

I have an argument with a friend of mine on this topic. Like Gio, he says it's disgusting. And, he doesn't want to be taught or even mentioned.

My problem with this argument, is it's logic, or as I think, the lack of it.

- If, I owe my straight orientation simply to the fact that a gay lifestyle was not taught to me and simply hidden away from me, then it follows, that the only reason I am living it, is because do not know about it. Right?

- If I knew about it, (such as it wasn't hidden, or even was taught), then, the argument holds, I would have grown up gay.

- Now, doesn't it mean that the lifestyle in question then is the better one (much more competitive)? Since it only takes to know about it, to accept it!

You see why I do not like the logic here?

- If, on the other hand, it wouldn't matter, what I was taught or shown, and I would still grow up as I did, straight, then what use does it serve to hide it?

Because, what is undesirable isn't hidden, and still no one wants it. On the other hand, the only things that people hide is something that others may want to get their hands on, i.e. desirable things.
