DNA database turns ‘innocents into criminals’ and a million records should be destroyed, warns watchdog

The national DNA database is being used by ministers to ‘criminalise the innocent’, it was claimed yesterday.

A Citizens’ Inquiry set up by a Government watchdog has demanded that the samples of a million innocent people stored on the files for life be removed.

Meanwhile, the Home Office should be stripped of responsibility for managing the library – because it has a ‘hidden agenda’ and ‘cannot be trusted’, the panel argued.


The database was originally a register of those convicted of a crime. But under laws quietly passed by Labour, anybody arrested for a serious offence and later cleared can have their genetic data stored for life.

Panel member Javed Aslam said: ‘For me, that is the first step towards a totalitarian state.’

The inquiry, overseen by the Human Genetics Commission, made a series of criticisms about the operation of the database. Most striking is the recommendation for the DNA of all innocents,

including children, to be deleted. The panel, which took evidence from leading DNA experts and police, said: ‘Retaining the sample criminalises the innocent.’

A majority of the panel, which received a £50,000 Government grant, also ruled that there should be no universal DNA database, and that the ethnicity of a suspect should not be recorded. When children are found guilty of a crime, they should remain in the database for only a limited period, the panel said.

Joss Whedon has always been associated with girl power in Hollywood.

His shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, have been hailed by critics for their strong female leads. But his new show, premiering Friday on Fox, may fly directly in the face of that image.

It’s called Dollhouse, and it stars Eliza Dushku, who played one of the slayers on Buffy.

In the new show’s premise, Dushku’s character, Echo, is an "active" — someone who has volunteered to have her personality erased. Every week, the Dollhouse installs a new personality into her and sends her out on "engagements" that involve sex, violence and, often, both.

It’s a surprising show from someone who, in a 2006 acceptance speech for an award he was given from the women’s human rights group Equality Now, said, "The misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition. It is life out of balance, and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman who’s confronted with it."

Jacki Lyden asks Whedon to explain how a show starring a young female character who has no free will isn’t the ultimate misogynistic male fantasy.

"I won’t necessarily say that it isn’t that," Whedon says. "The fact of the matter is that, in the wrong hands, it is a completely misogynist thing, except it’s happening to men as well — but what we’re trying to do is take someone’s identity away in order to discuss the concept of her identity."

Whedon says the first group he pitched the show to — after Dushku and Fox — was the board of Equality Now.

"I knew that would be the toughest room I would ever sit in," Whedon says. "What I basically told them was I was examining the idea of fantasy, and some of the stuff that would happen would be good, and some of the stuff that would happen would be kind of awful, and that the whole point was going to be to blur those lines, to take what we want from each other sexually, how much power we want to have over each other."

In the second episode, Echo is programmed to have sex with a man who then attempts to kill her with a bow and arrow. Lyden says it has a "snuff-film motif" and asks Whedon why he chose to present this type of main female character.

"Obviously, the point is you have to take control away from her so that she can get it back. Obviously, the man does not kill her," he says.

Whedon says the theme of hiring people for sex was something he and Dushku were eager to explore.

"All of the actives have that as part of their engagements," he says. "And that is something Eliza and I set out to do from the start — she wanted to, before I even came up with the idea, was talking about doing a premise that dealt with sexuality."

Lyden points out one of the uncomfortable aspects of the premise is that Echo "doesn’t really have a choice about who she’s sleeping with … it isn’t consensual."

Whedon agrees. "I’m not saying that nonconsensual sex is ever OK. This is, after all, a science fiction show."

He says the show also brings up questions about the different ways American audiences respond to sex and violence.

"Nobody says, if somebody puts a gun in her hand and she shoots someone, isn’t that just as bad for a person as a sexual act that is not in any way physically harmful? Some people would argue it’s not the same question, but for me, I think it is part of the same question."

Whedon says the Fox network wasn’t particularly comfortable with these themes either. The original pilot episode of the series, which included discussion of the actives performing more altruistic deeds, was scrapped in favor of one that amped up the action and conspiracy.

Whedon says Fox also asked him to turn down the volume on some of the sexual themes.

"My problem has always been, what happens is that you get the corporations basically enjoying the titillation of the thing instead of wanting to baldly talk about it," he says. "We really wanted to hit it in the face and say, well, what does it mean? Is it wrong to pay somebody to have sex? How wrong is it to try to create your own perfect experience? When is it appalling? And when is it a part of people becoming increasingly incapable of dealing with other people and living these incredibly insular lives?"

And, he says, in a fictional world where people can be programmed, you have to deal with sexual themes.

"To say that people are going to have the ability to program other people and are not going to do that — that sex is not going to be one of the first things on their minds — would be very disingenuous," he says.

And what would Whedon do if he finds his supporters being turned off by the new show’s premise?

"The fact of the matter is, I’ve been worried about this. It’s kept me up nights. But I believe the best way to examine anything is to go to a dark place," Whedon says. "You can’t be a storyteller and a speechwriter at the same time."

Glad to see I've got a fellow conspiracy buff!

About 10 years ago one of my favorite am radio stations got bought out by "The Patriot" - the right wing political station. They already had an am station, now they have two!

I had some good bible teachers I listened to on a regular basis. Replaced by blah,blah,blah......we'r always right

Now, my fm station has been bought out by a bigger station. They changed the format from bible teaching to mostly music. They used to carry a lot of LOCAL pastors. I found my church that way. Now they carry Dr. Dobson and national people. Is anyone going to find a home church that way?

Praise & worship music is all fine and good, but the TEACHING is far more important. "The famine of the end times is for hearing the word of God". This station is now a virtual clone of the other all music fm station - there is no need for two of them.

How are things in your city? Anybody else notice the disappearing of sound bible teachers? Guess we have to rely on the internet even more than ever (mp3 sermons). And what of people who don't have internet access?

I'm sick to death of frakking A-Rod, baseball, and steroids!

If only they would pay 1/10th the attention to issues like this.

Maybe we should all start eating the hides off baseballs and footballs and munching turf since it is so well regulated.

Take all these chemists testing basball players pee and give them REAL jobs, like testing EVERYTHING from China!

Part 1: Consequences of Human Tsunami

According to Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Charles Gibson, the United States surpassed 300,000,000 people by the end of October. Their current demographic predictions, based on accelerating growth levels, show America adding 100 million people by 2040.


For those asleep at the wheel—that’s 34 years from now—a blink in time.


To place this kind of horrific growth rate into perspective, it resembles a human tsunami. Much like nature’s earthquakes that occurred beneath the surface last year, the wave of energy sped under the ocean for hours and hundreds of miles without notice. Once it hit the shoreline in Sri Lanka, it created cataclysmic devastation and tens of thousands of deaths. Why? No one suspected it. No one took action to save themselves. They didn’t know it was coming. Once it hit, everyone became victims! The tsunami rendered a human tragedy of epic proportions!


The U.S. Senate in May, 2006 passed S.B. 2611 that doubled current immigration levels from 1.0 million to 2.0 million annually. It increased work visas by tens of thousands. It continued allowance for millions in chain migration. It allowed millions more in anchor babies. The senate bill did nothing to stop illegal immigration estimated by Time Magazine in a feature story on September 20, 2004, that showed three million people crossing into America illegally every year.

It did not stop the 50,000 annual diversity visas that allow that many people to come to America from the poorest countries in the world. It added more visas that allow more foreigners to gain jobs and anchor babies in America that assures they never return to their home countries.


The bill did not take into account that millions of people arriving from Third World countries do not change their large family propensities of six to eight and more children per couple.


What does that mean to American citizens? What about our overloaded cities? Overwhelmed schools? How about our water, farm land, energy, air quality, food sources, species habitat, and dozens of other issues? Is there any way to stop it? Does anyone understand the ominous consequences?


In this 10 part series published on Thursdays, this column addresses what we as a nation face if we allow this ‘human tsunami’ to crash upon our shores. It addresses every aspect of our society, environment, sustainability, culture, language and viability as a civilization.


The first question we must all ask ourselves is: can anyone name a single advantage to adding 100 million people to America in 34 years? From Third World countries? What will it do to our society? Do we want to grow to 1,000,000,000 people? Why? If not, at what point will we stabilize growth?


What has a 2.4 billion person population done to India or China? Do you think their citizens enjoy the standards of living and quality of life we enjoy in the United States? Not even close!

In 1900, the world population reached 1.6 billion; today, it exceeds 6.4 billion; by mid century it’s expected to grow to a low of 9.0 to as high as 9.8 billion. (Source: Population Reference Bureau)


Name one advantage to adding 3,000,000,000 more people to the globe? Is there some cosmic reason? Reasonable religious reason? Any rational reason? Any sane purpose?


Already, according to March 14, 2005 Time Magazine, eight million people starve to death annually. Over 35 percent of humanity does not have clean drinking water. Species extinction exceeds thousands annually. What is it that we hope to accomplish by adding another 3.0 billion people to the planet with the consequences already raining down on us with current population levels?


For those who can remember, in 1964, America housed 194 million people. Gas prices remained steady at 29 cents a gallon. Candy bars sold for five cents along with ice cream cones. A pack of cancer sticks cost 20 cents. Movies cost 50 cents. Nine-five percent of kids arrived at school from a two parent home. No one heard of gridlock, air pollution or road rage. Today, gas exceeds $3.00 a gallon, ice cream cone tops $2.00 and cigarettes run $3.80 a pack and movies exceed $8.00 a ticket. A bag of popcorn costs $5.00. What’s changed? Short answer: supply and demand caused by population.


In 1965, U.S. Senator Teddy Kennedy passed the stealth Immigration Reform Act that changed 50 years of a steady influx of immigrants from 175,000 annually to a gargantuan 1.1 million people per year. Along with illegal immigration, the United States grew by 106 million people in 41 years. If allowed to continue, we will add 100 million in three decades. Reports show America will add another 100 million by 2065, which is 25 years. That number means America reaches a half billion on its way to a billion.


Here are a few things you can expect in your state as population rises all over this country.


In the next 50 years, you can expect 1,000,000 to as many as 3,000,000 more people added to your state depending on location. Once their numbers manifest, they won’t go away. Why? Because, at the same time, that 100 million spreads to other states! Texas adds 12 million by 2025, Arizona adds five million and California adds 20 million by 2035.


Today, states like Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and California don’t possess enough water for their residents. Aquifers degrade as fast as diesel engines pump them dry. No matter how many reservoirs they build, it won’t rain or snow more because they add millions of people. Water shortages and rationing will become the norm while green lawns become as extinct five cent candy bars.


At the same time, states like Colorado lost 1.65 million acres of prime farm land to development in the past 10 years. Why? They added 1.3 million people. They will add four million more by 2050. Latest reports show Colorado will lose 3.1 million more acres by 2022. How many by 2050? An additional 2.0 million more acres will be placed under concrete and asphalt via roads, malls and housing. Ask yourself: have you ever seen cows grazing on concrete or have you ever seen corn growing out of pavement? What will be the acreage losses in your state? Your losses will be commensurate to your population growth.


While we exceed the land’s carrying capacity, we pack ourselves in like sardines with smart growth, slow growth and managed growth. It’s all growth that adds cars, trucks, homes, power plants, malls and smoke stacks. Have you noticed traffic in your city? Have you seen the Brown Cloud thicken in toxicity over your area? How about the bumper-to-bumper traffic? Can you imagine what it will be with an added 100 million people in 34 years?


By that time, gas or other alternative fuel will cost $8.00 to $10.00 per gallon and water prices will break your wallet. Your food costs will triple. Goods and services will explode beyond predictions.


How about your quality of life? Standard of living? What about species extinction? Air pollution? Acid rain? Crowding of national parks? Lakes? Streams? How about soil erosion?


We paint ourselves into a corner. We’re driving this population train into a dead end tunnel. When will local and national leaders stand up and speak out? Rep: Foreclosed owners should squat in their own homes

If you're poor and the bank is coming for your home, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur has a plan for you.

Just squat, she says.

Yes, this Ohio Democrat is actually encouraging her financially distressed constituents whose homes have been foreclosed upon, to simply stay put.

In a Friday report, CNN's Drew Griffin explored the case of Ohioan Andrea Geiss, whose home was foreclosed upon in April.

"Behind in payments, out of work, a husband sick, she had nowhere to go," said Griffin. "So, she decided to follow the advice of her Congresswoman and go nowhere."

In Lucas County, Ohio, over 4,000 properties were foreclosed upon in 2008, reports CNN.

"So I say to the American people, you be squatters in your own homes," said Congresswoman Kaptur before the House of Representatives. "Don't you leave."

She's called on all of her foreclosed-upon constituents to stay in their homes and refuse to leave without "an attorney and a fight," said CNN.

"If they've had no legal representation of a high quality, I tell them stay in their homes," Kaptur told Griffin.

Kaptur is a high-profile advocate of an increasingly popular mode of fighting foreclosures best known for it's key phrase: "Produce the note."

By telling a bank to "produce the note," a homeowner can delay foreclosure by forcing the lender to prove the suing institution is actually the same which owns the debt.

"During the lending boom, most mortgages were flipped and sold to another lender or servicer or sliced up and sold to investors as securitized packages on Wall Street," explains the Consumer Warning Network. "In the rush to turn these over as fast as possible to make the most money, many of the new lenders did not get the proper paperwork to show they own the note and mortgage. This is the key to the produce the note strategy."

And Friday's segment on this growing foreclosure fighting "movement" was not the network's first. Earlier in January, CNN explored one person's strategy in demanding her bank "produce the note," only to find that the lender had "lost or destroyed" the evidence of debt ownership. Such a revelation can significantly strengthen a homeowner's position when asking to renegotiate a mortgage.

That these banks, many of which received billions of dollars in government bailout funds, continue to boot defaulted owners from their homes, makes them "vultures" says Kaptur.

"They prey on our property assets," she said. "I guess the reason I'm so adamant on this is because I know property law and its power to protect the individual homeowner. And I believe that 99.9 percent of our people have not had good legal representation in this."

I am a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Fraud Examiner and a former-IRS Agent. I became a CPA in 1987, a CFE in 2001, and I worked at the IRS in Atlanta, Georgia, as a Revenue Agent from January 1988 through May 1995. I did well as an IRS agent. As a matter of fact, it was the best job that I ever had. I received a fraud award my first year there. Later, I received numerous awards including an award from the inspection division for a bribery case, and an award from the IRS commissioner himself.

I left the IRS because as a wife and mother, the IRS was getting much more of my time and energy than my family. As a Christian wife and mother, I had to choose family. I came home to be "June Cleaver".


WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO RESEARCH THE TAX LAW AFTER YOU LEFT THE IRS?


After leaving the IRS and by the end of the first year, I decided to start a small accounting practice, specializing in helping people avoid IRS problems. Then, in 1999 I started meeting people with these unusual claims that the income tax doesn't apply to citizens of America. I didn't tell them that they were crazy, but I also didn't try to prove them wrong. Like most people, I just ignored their claims and went on with life.

Then, some of my special clients, pastors, started asking questions about it; stating that their members were talking about the income tax being illegal.

One such pastor called me and asked me to speak with one of the church members that had been given very specific information on the income tax. This member and I talked for hours, and then she told me about a USA Today ad on July 7, 2000.

I pulled the USA Today ad up on a website that she gave me. The website belongs to the We The People Foundation for Constitutional Education, headed by Mr. Robert Schulz in Queensbury New York. Within this full-page ad was a $50,000 challenge given my Mr. William Conklin. To this day I have not met Mr. Conklin, but thank God he had the wisdom and the guts to put his money where his mouth is. The challenge was to (1) Show how to file a federal income tax return without waving one's 5th amendment rights and (2) identify the section of the Internal Revenue Code that makes a typical worker liable to pay an income tax.

I was bound and determined to win that $50,000. I even had the money spent in my mind. I thought - Humm, after tithes and offerings, I can pay off a few bills, go on a nice vacation. . This will be a synch. Well, I pulled out my codes and regulations and began to gather the information to prepare a report for Mr. Conklin, sighting all of the answers that he asked for.

Three days later, I was sitting at my desk with no answer. I sat the codes and regulations aside for a few days and picked them up again. Determined not go give up. The next week, while sitting at my desk, scratching my head, I realized that there was a BIG problem with what the people are told versus what the codes and regulations say.

At that point I had to make a decision. Not only was it a personal decision but a moral decision. My Christian background taught me to be honest and truthful, but above all, choose GOD over man. Here before me was credible evidence that the American people are being robbed of their hard earned wages, that this fraud has been perpetuated for almost a century through fear and intimidation, and that our government is ignoring the cries of the people for answers to this crisis.

I had to decide whether I was going to be an informed slave or get off of the plantation.

I decided to get off of the plantation and actively educate others and myself about the misapplication and misrepresentation of the federal income tax.

I think this whole thing may have been a "planned" event.

US Gov't Asks Court to Seal Vaccine Records

WASHINGTON (Reuters Health) - Attorneys for the Bush Administration asked a federal court on Monday to order that documents on hundreds of cases of autism allegedly caused by childhood vaccines be kept from the public.

Department of Justice lawyers asked a special master in the US Court of Federal Claims to seal the documents, arguing that allowing their automatic disclosure would take away the right of federal agencies to decide when and how the material should be released.

Attorneys for the families of hundreds of autistic children charged that the government was trying to keep the information out of civil courts, where juries might be convinced to award large judgments against vaccine manufacturers.

The court is currently hearing approximately 1,000 claims brought by the families of autistic children. The suits charge that the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, which until recently included a mercury-containing preservative known as thimerosal, can cause neurological damage leading to autism.

Federal law requires suits against vaccine makers to go before a special federal "vaccine court" before any civil lawsuit is allowed. The court was set up by Congress to speed compensation claims and to help protect vaccine makers from having to pay large punitive awards decided by juries in state civil courts. Plaintiffs are free to take their cases to state courts if they lose in the federal vaccine court or if they don't accept the court's judgment.

The current 1,000 or so autism cases are unusual for the court. Because it received so many claims, much of the fact-finding and evidence-gathering is going on for all of the cases as a block.

Monday's request by the Bush Administration would prevent plaintiffs who later go to civil court from using some relevant evidence generated during the required vaccine court proceedings.

Plaintiffs' attorneys said that the order amounted to punishment of the families of injured children because it would require them to incur the time and expense of regenerating evidence for a civil suit.

"Wouldn't it be a shame if at the end of the day our policy would be to compensate lawyers," said Jeff Kim, an attorney with Gallagher Boland Meiburger & Brosnan. The firm represents about 400 families of autistic children who received the MMR vaccine.

Kim accused the government of trying to lower "a shroud of secrecy over these documents" in order to protect vaccine manufacturers, who he said were the only entities" that would benefit if the documents are sealed.

While federal law clearly seals most documents generated in individual vaccine cases, it has never been applied to a block proceeding like the one generating evidence in the autism cases.

Administration lawyers told Special Master George Hastings that they requested the seal in order to preserve the legal right of the Secretary of Health and Human Services to decide when vaccine evidence can be released to the public. Justice Department attorney Vincent Matanoski argued that to let plaintiffs use the vaccine court evidence in a later civil suit would confer an advantage on plaintiffs who chose to forgo federal compensation.

"There is no secret here. What the petitioners are arguing for are enhanced rights in a subsequent civil action," Matanoski said of the plaintiffs. "They're still going to have unfettered use within the proceedings."

Hastings would not say when he would issue a ruling on whether to seal the court documents, but did say that his decision would be "very prompt."

I heard this new age guy on coast to coast radio show recently. All you evolution people are setting yourselves up for the GREAT DECEPTION that is soon coming. 2012 & Human Evolution
In the first half of the program, researcher and lecturer David Wilcock spoke about the year 2012, and presented scientific data which shows big changes are in store for humanity in the near future. According to Wilcock, crop circles have been pointing toward a profound event centered around 2012. A recent crop circle formation accurately displayed the planetary alignment for the exact day when the Mayan Calendar will end, he noted.

Wilcock said the entire solar system is going through a transformation that can be seen in interplanetary climate change as well as in the rapid evolution of human beings. Wilcock referred to the work of Prof. John Hawks, an anthropologist at the University of Wisconsin, who has been studying the speed of evolution. Present day humans are more genetically different from people of 3000 B.C. than the people of 3000 B.C. were from Neanderthals, he pointed out.

Wilcock discussed the groundbreaking research by Russian scientist A.B. Burlakov that suggests an energy field, or "biofield," is feeding life, perhaps causing mass evolution to occur. He shared details from a study by V. Budakovski in which raspberry callus tissue was healed by projecting a hologram of a healthy raspberry plant into the sick one. As further evidence of the transitory and changeable nature of DNA, Wilcock mentioned the work of Dr. Peter Gariaev, who found he could use laser light to turn frog embryos into salamander embryos.

In a recent letter to the editors of the New England Journal of Medicine, three Italian doctors describe how they were able to reduce patients' reported dyspepsia symptoms by more than half - by prescribing red pepper powder. In a study of 30 patients with functional dyspepsia, half of the participants received a placebo, while the other half took 2.5 grams of red pepper powder each day (divided into capsules taken before each of three meals).

Both groups took their respective treatments for five weeks, and rated their symptoms each day on a scale of zero to three (higher scores indicated more severe symptoms). By the third week, the red pepper group showed a significant advantage over the control group. And by week five, the pepper group's symptoms had declined 60 percent from their baseline scores - while the control group's scores had only decreased about half as much. The symptom scores included ratings for pain, a feeling of fullness, nausea, and an overall score. The red pepper powder produced significant gains in all four areas.
