Noone expects an accident in a car or an illness on their life, but who should be paying the price when it happens? those who took precautions or those who felt like it wouldnt happen to them?

This is a different issue. If I don't have insurance and I don't have money to pay for medical treatment only I suffer.

If I get in a car accident and hurt someone else and don't have money or insurance they are hurt but I am legally responsible for them and can't pay anything. See the difference?

No edical insurance only effects yourself. No car insurance effects any driver you have an accident with.

this is not true. you are discussing direct PHYSICAL harm.

Financially though, the prices for those who take the responsibility to have auto insurance have their rates increased to cover the prices of all those who do NOT have insurance or pay their bills.

similarly, costs are increased for health insurance to help cover the uninsured and those who dont pay their medical bill when an accident or unexpected illness occur that the hospital is obliged by law to treat in an emergency room.

so where will the penalty taxes that the uninsured pay go? not to the insurance companies. not to the hospital emergency room that's required by law to treat the uninsured. it all goes to the treasury for congress to spend at will.

lose the negative such as this:

"PS As of this posting, all nudgers will be blocked. If you're not brave enough to send a message, you're not brave enough to be anyone's knight, least of all mine.
I do not accept friend requests. I am here for a husband and that is all.
Since I hate my state's culture anyone from here or part of the culture will also be blocked without any remorse.
Replying does not always mean I'm interested. Sometimes it just means I need to talk to somebody besides the ogres."

men look at a profile to see if a woman has what WE WANT. besides, what ogre will admit to being an ogre. stay positive.

I am just curious...I am involved in Occupy Seattle which I do understand is controversial. I am proud to say ours is the 5th largest occupation in America. It's nice to see that the average American CAN make a difference. My questions to you are: What difference would you like to see in American politics / government? The banking industry? Wall Street? Education?

1. Single Payer Health Care System modeled after France's current
best in the world system - which will give universal coverage and
at less than half the cost of our current system. This is the single
most fiscally important thing we could do. Single payer dentistry too.

2. Retroactively take back at least 95% of the bonuses of the Wall
St. pigs who ripped us all off with bogus mortgage backed products
for the 10 years prior to the mortgage meltdown. We need that money
back now to pay back all the working class people from who it was
stolen under fraudulent misrepresentations of the products. This
should be good for over $100 billion easily.

3. Make a national bank lender who will extend the most favorable
lending terms to all Americans who would like to refinance not just
for those who are in default. Possibly legislation to heavily
tax banks which are not lending their funds - something like a
windfall profits tax. Definitely stick it to the banks and insurance
companies.

The sentiments are aimed in the right directions but not well thought out. In fact those who currently have all the power in this country to make those things happen, are the people against whom some of the most severe action should be taken.

I was answering the OP's question about what would I do if I had
the power to do so.

It is not a discourse on how to accomplish these things just some
ideas. But I will add that if France can do it on health care then
we can do it too. Same for banking reform and same for taking
fraudulently earned bonuses. Happens all the time.

No point in throwing hands up in the air and gesticulating wildly
and whining about how powerless we all are...

laugh

i don't see that the op put, 'if you had the power' into the mix. there are limits to the powers of government and what somebody can accomplish.

Im sincerely Sorry Jr, but ur post is so far removed from reality it beggars belief . . Bless u and ur Family .

i gave specific industries where america's capitalistic system is leading not only germany but every other country on the planet. how about you, any specifics or just an arbitrary, overly broad comment?
So if america leads in a half dozen industries it benefits no one realy if wages do not go up and the cost of liveing does.

the markets rule. always have. always will. a government cannot legislate wages any more than it can legislate the cost of living. even in such socialist countries as china and vietnam capitalism is a growth industry.

not to answer for conrad but he did suggest that the "real capatilist country" doesn't exist. yes, we enjoy or ss checks as well as social progrms like medicare and welfare. any great country will realize that some will fall through the cracks of any system and the country owes it to those folks to help out. trouble is, many in america and especially those in more socialized countries begin to feel entitled and lose a sense of personal responsibility.

"legalize freedom". now there's a sound bite that many americans can and will actually sink their teeth into. as p.t. barnum once quipped, "nobody ever lost a dime betting against the intelligence of the american public" and my guess that ron paul learned the lesson well. might even work this time.

i'm thinking that some of theories may be flawed, or that red shift is not a "good" way to measure distance... if gravity affects light, then the light particles would be bending around galaxies and black holes, not making a straight line...

but light does not always travel in a straight line.

if the age of the universe is less than 14 billion, then how do they find objects that are 42 billion light years away?... the math doesn't really add up...

hmmmmm. what objects have THEY found that far out? i suppose i could be less than up to date on the topic but i'm not aware that anybody has found anything further away from us than a galaxy that is 13 billion light years away and thought to have been in existance for a little less than 400,000 years. hense, a 13.75 billion year timeline.

All I'm saying is that at least he's honest and cares about this country, not just who he can "politically sleep" with to make his bank account grow. I'm not sure if he's "exactly" the kind of person we as American's need right now, but IMO he's by far the best candidate in the field. And throughout history, no president has ever pleased everyone.

what this country needs, imo, as president at this time is a leader. ron paul is not that. as you just said, no president has ever pleased everyone which is exactly why we need somebody who can gather the opposing factions that are in power and form a strange bedfellows coalition. something like ike did with such arrogamt and diametrically opposed, full of themselves egotists such as roosevelt, churchil, stalin, de gaulle and co. so the job can finally get done. eisenhower didn't win the job as allied supreme commander because he'd convinced everybody he could win battles. hell, he'd never seen a day of combat in his life. but he was the best man on the planet at getting people to unite with him and go out and kick butt. he never get's credit for defeating romel in north africa nore the ivasion and victories in cicily and italy but ike was the brainpower behind that too. ron paul keeps selling folks with ideas that the president has no constitutional authority to even come close to making happen. sure it all sounds great but that only works with sound bites.

I do think there will be a surprise or two before it's time to push the button though!

oh geez, i didn't mean to say i'd vote for barry. guess it did sound that way, huh? no, i'll jest prolly scribble in colin powell/bob gates like the last several times and waste my vote once again. unless like you say we're all in for a surprise or two.

well folks, we live in an elected republic and as such we have congress and legislatures that represent us in deciding what is and is not legal. i keep saying this but few seem to get it but it does no good whatsoever to ***** about what should and should not be on places like dating site forums. therein lies the biggest problem with our political system. so many take in the political and media sound bites as if it's all air to breathe but few take the time to work the sytem which allows many that do work the system and succede simply produce more sound bites that'll keep them in power but of course nothing ever changes. the powers that be on both sides know full well that what p.t. barnum once quipped is true, "nobody ever lost a dime betting against the intelligence of the american people."

hell, the guy's so long in the tooth i think he must have been around before the founding fathers and hasn't gotten around to reading what they wrote. funny how americans are easily sold a bill of goods that can never be delivered. as p.t. barnum once quipped, "nobody ever lost a dime betting against the intelligence of the american people." ron seems to understand that as well as p.t. did. hey, he musta been around back then too, huh leigh?

The genesis fable given in the bible supposedly occurred less than 10,000 years ago. Every piece of evidence that points to anything occurring or existing prior to that time frame is evidence against young earth creationism.

yes of course, my point was that science does not even consider genesis to be anything but a fable. i think of evidence as something that supports a particular theory or concept as this disscussion has gone. the god fearing will always come back with, "prove it ain't so."
