You want to fix the price of gas? Don't take your IRS "stimulus," and then we can talk about step 2.

OK WarElephant. Serious question. How do you feel about McCain's and Clinton's support of, eliminating/reducing tax on gasoline, at least for the summer?

If it can be done for the summer, why not lower it NOW and keep it lowered? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Something like putting an item on sale at half price. So, why was it so high to begin with?

Lindyy

This would help, though not in the context McCain or Clinton is talking about. While there are built in federal taxes, a lot of gasoline taxes at the consumer level are levied by the states and local governments for public works projects and revenue. And to make matters more complicated, sometimes the revenue from those taxes are earmarked.

The best way to bring the price of gas down is to start FIXING THE INTEREST RATE, I've been saying this time and time again. The reason our gas is so high is because our dollar is so low, and the reason it's so low is because of artificially low interest rates. Really, high gas prices are just another product of our inane monetary system.

Yeh, and whats even more cute is when arrogant pr*cks think they have "rights" and they don't really even have a clue. And they sit back with what looks like a turd in thier mouth spouting off cander from an insecure and low IQ brain. Don't ya think??? noway  laugh laugh laugh

Low IQ and insecure. Right. You found me out!

And what do you mean? I DO have rights, they're God-given, and no one can take them away from me. Before you start dispensing internet flames, maybe you should consider that there are real problems in this world to be dealt with--things like broken borders, inane monetary systems, and taxation--as opposed to your little "Free Hawaii" thing that has absolutely no legitimate grounds for political debate.

Barack Obama is one of the most politically and socially naive people to ever run for the office of the presidency. He has no personal conviction--he is simply where he is because he was unknowingly groomed by an elite structure of bourgeoisie liberals who saw opportunity, and of course, because he's black. We all know this is the truth; how many white junior senators came into congress from midwestern states and were asked to be keynote speakers BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN ELECTED? Oh that's right, none. Because it's not politically expedient to do so.

He is neither friend nor foe, and it's safe to say that he knows nothing. He is a one-termer if he gets elected, just like Carter, not because he's stupid, but because he's just naive.

Funny that Jimmy Carter goes abroad blaming other countries for a problem that he is responsible for. Doesn't seem the Palestinians in Hamas know their history too well, but that's what happens when you spend all that time in the desert.

It's always cute when irrelevant ethnic minorities use ridiculous rhetoric to create problems, and in the same breath, create idealistic solutions to those problems.

Looks like she does, in fact, have balls after all.

And I'm not talking about courage.

I don't have a problem arresting Bush so long as we arrest Clinton, Carter, Bush Sr., and virtually all of congress as well.

Until we can negotiate those terms, then this remains the stupidest idea ever, next to impeachment.

Actually, strike that. Leave the politicians where they are. Shoot the bankers instead.

Fortunately, this man is dead, and this news is irrelevant. We all know that the war had a hell of a lot more to do with than just this bastard.

Seriously, where do you people get your news? Or is LSD still that popular?

I wanted to go, but there are no good bands, with the exception of Hot Tuna. Maybe I'll go to see them, but that's it.

We wouldn't have problems like this if students were allowed to have their own CCW weapons on campus.

Oh yea that would be better, we would be back to the OK corral days huh?noway huh

Haha, that's so ridiculous. Ever notice that people who commit crimes don't have CCWs? In fact, every time a CCW is used, a crime is usually mitigated or stopped completely.

The Federal Reserve, which prints our money, is as federal as Federal Express

*sigh* If you are going to spread your uninformed FUD, at least try to get some of the easier facts straight.

The Federal Reserve Banks do not print money. Nor produce coin.

They place orders to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing for the paper money, and U.S. Mint for coinage.

Both are under the Dept. Of Treasury, currently run by a fellow named Paulson. Sec. Paulson does have the ability to reject a printing or minting order if he feels it inappropriate.

And contrary to popular conspiracy theorist beliefs - neither the Bureau or the Mint have machines 'running 24x7, making as much money as they can" Actually..that is pretty far from the truth. It is a pretty rare day they have ALL the presses running at one time.

*sigh* but then...that doesn't sound quite as inflammatory as your statement, huh ?

None of this is true.

The Fed is not under the Department of the Treasury, the Fed is a completely separate entity, and the board of governors isn't even comprised of "government" officials.

Also, please check up on the concept of "coinage" as I think you're taking it a little too literally.

I think its amusing how everyone who's relatively active on the forums don't live close to each other at all.

Sad, really.

My ex boyfriend plays that game alllll the time. It used to annoy me because I'd go over there and he'd be playing that game and wouldnt pay attention to me...

Hahaha, oh man, these kinds of posts make me smile. No wonder I don't get along with so many people in MMOs--the majority of them don't have lives.

Like seriously, who chooses a videogame over another human being? Especially if you know, that person is kind of your girlfriend/wife/significant other.

Age of Mothertruckin' Conan. Well in one more month...drinker

I've been in the beta for it and it blows WoW away, both in PvE and PvP. Hopefully it will get the media attention it deserves.

again...you believe the media TOO much. the ATF made some mistakes but not like what the media reported . i live an hour from waco and was down there at the time. people have talked to the people that got out about what it was like living there.
in fact...the ATF had to move faster because the media was about to run a story about the raid before it happened in the local paper before it happened because it got leaked out to them.

MISTAKES? The media didn't report any of the "mistakes" the ATF made in Waco. Last time I checked, the media still continues to maintain that the tragedy was due to Koresh's followers opening fire through the front door, WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE A BLATANT LIE UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION. Seriously, if you listen to media rhetoric about Waco, they make the Branch Davidians out to be like terrorists, which they weren't.

“If once the people become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions.” - Thomas Jefferson

'Nuff said. This country destroyed itself because average Americans thought it would be fun to commit economic suicide, by engaging in pointless nation building, socialist policies, and central banking. And why? Because the media told them to do it.

The Founders must look at us from the beyond the veil in complete disgust.

It really doesn't matter what speculation dictates; the government has to face the burdens of proof, and they so far, have none regarding this incident. Are some of these women brainwashed? Yeah, probably. Do they live lifestyles that I don't agree with? Yes. But as far as they're concerned, they're doing nothing wrong, and as long as they're not hurting me or the general populace, then intrusions by the government should not be tolerated.

We all know what happened at Waco. The ATF has little regard for human life--I highly doubt some people in the FBI give a collective damn either.
