OK, the only way that you would be taxed on a Net figure is if you held a Sole Proprietorship and you had justifiable expenses that you could account for if audited. This means that you have a self-employment tax, which is basically your FICA and if you make enough, you will then pay into income taxes. Many sole-proprietors actually get a refund.

The people who make hundreds of thousands of dollars as a high-ranking officer in a Corporation are taxed on their GROSS income, not their NET.

Having been an accountant and doing taxes for individuals and companies of every size, I have learned quite a bit. One of the things I learned is that the more you make, the less the ratio of income verses taxes you actually take home.

What is the incentive, then, for an individual to make more money? If the people who work their butts off year after year, day and night, to better themselves then have to distribute to the people who sat at home every night after work watching their favorite TV shows, why even try anymore?

go ahead lay it out, what do you think of abortion?
as a notei would much rather that the convrsations not get to heated, lets keep them PG please.

ohhhhhh noooooooo....trick question.......you just want to see me flip out....

I have numerous times stated my position.....via "GiannaJessen.com"

Here goes again....

Gianna Jessen's Biography

"Gianna Jessen does not quit. Giving up is not an option to her. Gianna has what she refers to as the "gift" of Cerebral Palsy. She weighed a mere 2 lbs at birth and the doctors said she would never be able to hold up her head, sit up, crawl or walk. She began to walk by the age of three years old with the help of leg braces and a walker.

Gianna doesn’t believe that her Cerebral Palsy takes away her life, but, rather, enriches it. . . she walks with a slight limp today and runs marathons. On April 30, 2005 she completed her first 26.2 mile marathon after running just over 7 hours and was presented with the coveted blank blank award! On April 23, 2006 she completed the London Marathon as well. She is now determined to run marathons all over the place, because she was never supposed to even walk!

Gianna understands the plight of orphans, being one herself. She was placed into the foster care system early on in life, eventually being taken into the loving home of a woman named Penny. Penny has been a mother to 56 foster children in her life. Gianna was later adopted by Penny's daughter, making Penny Gianna's grandmother. According to Gianna, Penny saved her life.

Gianna is a Christian. Her life was given to her by the grace of God. She shouldn't be walking, but more miraculous still; she should not even be alive. Gianna's biological mother was 17 when she had a saline abortion in her third trimester. Many Americans don’t realize it is legal to have an abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy. After being burned alive for approximately 18 hours in the womb from the saline solution, Gianna was delivered alive in a Los Angeles County abortion clinic. Her medical records state, "born during saline abortion"...this is what caused her Cerebral Palsy.

Gianna's travels and experiences have led her all over the world. Her life has been covered by many major news media outlets, including, most recently, the BBC News and World Radio, Sky News, and The Good Morning Show in England, reaching many people with a message of hope and conviction. In November 2005, Gianna spoke in several colleges all over Ireland and in December of the same year, spoke at a meeting held at the House of Commons in London. She has returned to England this year to speak in several parochial and public high schools. Gianna’s audiences include: churches - church youth crusades and women’s ministry retreats; various corporations as a motivational speaker; secular and Christian youth organizations and schools – middle school age through college, as well as several times before Congress - most recently having her testimony read before the Supreme Court in Carhart v. Gonzales "

I don't see why the rich get so many tax breaks and we don't. Friggin BS. Now it's our time... time for THEM to pay and not us.

Oh, my God, you guys.

Look up the tax bracket. The wealthy are paying more, not only because they make more, but also because the percentage they pay is more for the more they make.

For instance:

The 2008 tax bracket for a single person making between 0-$8,025 is 10%. That means that the person making $8,025 per year is paying (annually) $803 (always rounded up) in taxes. If a person making $360,000 had the same tax rate, they would be paying $36,000 (annually). This is not the case, because the person making $360,000 is not subject to only 10% tax, they are subject to 35% tax. This means that the person making $360,000 per year is paying $126,000 in annual taxes.

Not only is this more than a third of their income that they worked very hard to get, they don't get tax refunds. So, the person who is making $8,025 pays no taxes (and get's a refund) and the person who pays $126,000 in taxes is paying for the Earned Income Credit of the person only making $8,025 per year.

Why can't the rich pay a higher percentage of taxes than the poor???

They do!. If it were not for the individuals who worked their fingers to the bone to get to the wealthy position they hold.....USA would be bankrupt!!

It is easy to look up the tax rates...just do a google...you just might get the shock of your life......especially when you discover how many do NOT pay any taxes......

He's got a huge job to do and was left some horrible problems to clean up. Unfortunately, the skeptical republicans aren't going to be happy unless he performs a miracle.

The Republicans are the ones who created all this mess . They should be thankful that he is trying to clean their farce of 8 full years .

This is a prime example of thinking that will wreck this country...

The old saying "It takes TWO to TANGO."

Selective memory cares to forget that Congress had to pass/approve everything done.....

"Pass the Buck" .... people it accomplishes nothing except heads stuck in sand....

People refusing to accept THEIR faults/failures/wrong decisions/hatred to others ...... and admitting them, if to no one but themselves....accomplishes nothing

AND ONLY PROMOTES DIVIDEDNESS........

yeah and that person could have been VP.

Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Or even president someday.
that is in january!!!!

Happy Day.bigsmile

he's already backing off on his stance and promises......tell me in 4yrs how great he was, not how he will be.

I think anyone who would think someone would mis-treat others because of their race is projecting what they themselves would do.

I HEARD A VERY INTERESTING CONVERSATION ...... THE INDIVIDUAL I AM REFERRING TO DID NOT VOTE FOR obama BECAUSE obama DOES NOT RECOGNIZE HIS WHITE ANCESTRY....

THE MAN (obama)IS NOT BLACK. HE IS BIRACIAL!!!!!! BIRACIAL!!! MOTHER IS WHITE ALONG WITH ALL HER BIOLOGICAL RELATIVES.

YET obama tries to pass himself off as pure black/african.......

The individual (owner of a law firm....watch the comments...obama & spouse are by license...lawyers) said "If he has such disdain for his own biologically white relatives how does he regard whites who are not his flesh & blood?"

think FOOD FOR THOUGHTthink

What is Pure Black? What is Pure White? Pres.Elect Obama showed the best example of a Man, Black or White, of how to be Proud of his Family. He showed the love and affection for his Wife and Children, that all Men should show in Public, and Private. He opened up to America about his Family, White and Black. He Let the World know who helped Him get to were he is today. When his Family needed Him He was there. On his Aniversery, He went home to His Black Wife. He went to His White GrandMothers Sick Bed. On Holloween he took His Children. He is a Biological example of how people should care for each other around the World.

Should a church be able to openly donate money to any political campaign? I say no and if they do they should lose their tax exemption..The reason they get the exemption is the separation of church and state..It unfairly pushes someones beliefs on others..Freedom of Religion was one of the stepping stones this nation was founded on!!!

MOST definitely should be able......To me it is a vagrant violation of their freedom of speech, First Amendment Constitutional right

LINDYY

Would you say the same thing about Mosques donating to political campaigns?

Yes, like it or not.....in the USA to me it is discrimination against one's religious beliefs.....

We already have regulations in place on monetary amounts allowed to be contributed..

Really, it is like BRIBERY.....keep your mouth shut or pay more taxes......what

When we file our federal income tax returns we are given tax exemptions, etc...allowed to deduct for interest paid, number of children....you get the drift....BUT we as individuals do not lose our financial exemptions for financially/physically/verbally supporting our party or candidate......kind of a double standard.....

DISCRIMINATION/PREJUDICE in my opinion.....always felt that way.....

what purpose or good does homosexuality do?

Outside of sexual preference for the same sex, it serves no purpose for life itself.

To me, this is not about rights, it's about life.

let's say the whole world was gay, how long would humanity exist? It reminds me of the Quakers that did not believe in sex they saw it as wrong and needless to say in time they were no more.

A gay world would be a short lived world as to humankind.

If it were how things were meant to be - then it would be that way - don't you think?

I can't explain homosexuality, i know it exist and has for thousands of years in all cultures
therefore it can't be denied as to its happening. But i know of no civilized cultures that ever looked upon it as the norm or as a way to build civilization or family. I think its just a manifestation of sexual desire gone wrong.

Again marriage was, is, and always will be a union between a man and a woman. If the country wants to make ""special provisions"" for others then it needs to be for all kinds of sexual preferences, not just homosexuals. unions would have to include unmarried heterosexuals in it also.

It was considered normal in Socrates' time.

then you and i have a disagreement as to what is considered "normal". If it was normal back then it only means it was acceptable within the entirety of the population, not that the majority of people were. Again, this is far different than the OP, which is talking of "Right to >>marriage<<" not as to it's acceptability.

Go ahead, ask the individual where the posted information that it "was normal in Socrates' time" comes from.....

sorry lindyy, i'm not trying to make this a religious contention, to me it's about "rights" do gays have a right to be in union with one another and call it a "marriage" - to me the answer is clearly NO. if In socrates time it was concidered "normal" all that means to me is they accepted those people who were attracted to one another as acceptable - BUT!!! - they did not MARRY one another, they were no more than a couple, i will have to look to see how rampant this was or maybe Winx as you say can give me her source for her statement - post it please.
 In the ancient world there was no homosexuality because most people(especially men) were bisexual. In the times of Socrates, people believed that true love was only between men.

I was watching the news last night here in Oklahoma, and one of our local city councilmen was complaining about the Logo Network(LGBT based channel) thats now on cable. His entire argument was it was pushing sexual orientation as part of its platform and his "child might watch it".

What ever happened to parental responsibility and changing the channel?

Why is a perfectly natural act such a taboo? Its pointless in my opinion, Sex between to consenting adults is an act that shouldnt be so hush hush, its an act that takes place in nature and does no harm to anyone when two consenting people are involved.

I Personally think we as humans need to take a lesson from the Bonobos of Central Africa, Now those guys are the true hippies lol
