Topic: Redistribution of Wealth...

Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth....

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' The guy had more guts than a Tennis Racket Factory sitting there showing his support.....but then...

Once in the restaurant, I noticed my waiter had on a "Obama 08" tee shirt.

When the bill came, I decided not to tip the waiter and explained to him while he had given me exceptional service, that his tee shirt made me feel he obviously believes in Senator Obama's plan to redistribute the wealth. I told him I was going to redistribute his tip to someone that I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. He stood there in disbelief and angrily stormed away.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $3 and told him to thank the waiter inside, as I had decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy looked at me in disbelief but seemed grateful.

As I got in my truck, I realized this rather unscientific redistribution experiment had left the homeless guy quite happy for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn.

Well, I guess this redistribution of wealth is going to take a while to catch on, with those of us actually doing the work.

Yea it's one thing when you're taking money from a waiter that's making 4 bucks an hour. It's another thing entirely when you're taking money from the rich. And honestly... he's not even taking money from the rich. He's just taking the middle and lower class out of higher tax brackets. We get the tax break because we are not earning over $250,000 per year. I'm pretty sure, I could be wrong... but I'm fairly certain that waiter isn't making $250,000 a year or more.

But it's totally ok to take money from those people because they are rich, right???

On top of the Income Tax not being legal in the first place....now it'll be ok to just take money from someone because some dude decided that they make too much and should give it to someone else.

I cannot seem to grasp the logic that makes people think this is a good idea.

So you're saying it is ok to keep lower class people in a high tax bracket?? It's OK that they can't get healthcare because they don't happen to be rich?? The rich have been getting HUGE tax breaks for years. That is not OK.

Why can't the rich pay a higher percentage of taxes than the poor???

No. By all means....lower taxes on the middle class.

Just don't tell a person who has worked their ass off to get where they are that they now make too much money and have to give some of it to the government so they can hand it out to people.

Most of the rich are born rich and will die rich and leave their kids rich.

They already do. Or they would if there weren't so many loopholes in the tax code. But then again..when the tax code is thousands upon thousands of pages long...loopholes tend to happen.

Rather than the " Spread The Wealth " doctrine....why not just implement a flat tax or something called the Fair Tax??

Actually the poor don't pay taxes but they do get rebates that they don't earn & tax credits too...

The entire rebate thing is a scam. It was suppose to help home owners & the politicans found a way to redistribute that too.

THE FACT IS THIS...IT'S NO EXCUSE FOR THE LOSS OF JOBS IN AMERICA. Or the illegals who take jobs from American citizens.

Right but the government is so far in debt that if you lower the taxes on the middle class... you have to raise them somewhere else. I see no reason why I can't get a tax break but the rich can. Oh wait, I know why... I can't afford to pay a lobbyist...

I beg to differ.

The people making over 250K are usually not the folks who have been " born rich ". They are the doctors and lawyers and other professionals who took the time and put in the effort to educate themselves.

Granted, there are some people who had rich parents who died and left them money, but they are in a small minority.

I agree with you here... end the income tax & go to a flat sales tax except for food clothing & shelter. End all deductions too. I would require cos. to pay for employee health benefits & make the min wage 10 bucks an hr. I bet there would be such an explosion of business & jobs.

They say in an environment like that if you can't find a job you aren't looking.

That is one of the more ignorant things I have heard in a while. People that solely live on welfare are the only ones that don't pay taxes. There are many of us hard working people that pay taxes that don't get the tax breaks and are far from rich. Like me. And to say there is NO reason for anyone to have lost their job???? That's just incredible that anyone can say that.

I don't know much about the flat tax. I did see Obama explain some of it. He said that he favored it but it had some cons.

He said that it would not cover all of our costs i.e. roads, police, teachers. He said that the only way to do cover the costs using the flat tax would be to increase sales tax.

If they work, they pay taxes.

And also, everybody pays taxes - sales tax, personal property tax, real estate tax, income tax and more.

The illegals entering our country have decreased dramatically, btw. They are also leaving our country. It's been going on for awhile. The job market here is that bad now.

I think the whole thing wouldn't be an issue at all if the candya$$e$ who have tons of money in the first place would be kind enough to distribute some to those less fortunate than themselves. But who am I right?
