High power Catholics and Mormons want to control peoples emotions so they try to make them feel guilty over the most natural and basic areas of humanity. Funny how it has nothing to do with God. Its about people controlling people. Its also funny that the same high power Catholic priest teach that sex is a sin but turn around and play with little boys booty holes.

I am not familiar with that channel, and yes, parents need to be on the ball about what their kids watch.
But, it is tedious to have to watch out for every little thing with regard to children, and the television and internet are such poor places for sexuality to be in the first place. Of course, sex is "natural", and not "taboo", but there's so much and it is represented only as those who have the capabilities see fit and when they see fit to do it. Sex and sexuality are very personal and each of us has the right to determine what's okay and what is not and to not have everyone else's concepts flung at them.
I cannot begin to tell you how diligent I have been as a parent with regard to sexuality, but it's insidiously coursed through the veins by the media. It's not just "one channel" that you block. Thankfully, I have been very open with my children and they have come to me over ANY LITTLE THING they happen to hear or see through the media, their friends, whereever. Sometimes, though, it feels more like damage control and having to convince them that their bodies are as God intended and they have rights to their bodies, not expectations, etc.

I think it's more of a "you don't get to decide how to raise my children" thing

I'm not religious yet I have some of the same concerns. I'm ok with an adult oriented channel that I can block or tell my kids they aren't allowed to watch. My problem is that sex is so pervasive that kids get exposed and even numbed to it at a very early age. It's not what I want for my kids. There's plenty of time for that when they're a little older and more responsible.

I aggree, everyone has the right to raise there children the way they see fit with few obvious exeptions (like that dude from Central europe who locked hid daughter in the basement for 25 years), I personally think that everyone needs to understand how the world works, and we all need to work together so we cant really force one belief on everybody

Its tuff being a parent i know

Its religion overall....and the last 8 years of pandering to the religious right by the Bush admin hasn't helped at all. Not only in sexual matters, but also in science in general.

The US is still holding onto some backward ass belief system of some super high power that created everything....I stopped believing in fairy tales when I was a kid. It's time for others to grow up too.

Christianity:

The belief that some cosmic Jewish zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Yeah....makes perfect sense....

not hearing the councilman's rant...I wonder if the whole arguement was more about " public viewing "...as opposed to " sex "

Before we can remove the taboo from sexual contact between consenting adults, we have to remove the sexualization attached to the naked human form - from day one, American society sexualizes everything about the human body, from having kissable lips with this lipstick and having short-shorts and big breasts means that resturant serves the best hot wings.. to drink this kind of beer and you'll have a desireable woman hanging upon your arm.

I believe, we need to postulate the position that the naked human body is just that - a biological machine designed to provide us with service while we live out our lives.

Look at the European Culture.. comfortable with the naked human body, and not nearly the amount of sexual/violent crimes surrounding sexual activities.

My two cents. :-)

I was watching the news last night here in Oklahoma, and one of our local city councilmen was complaining about the Logo Network(LGBT based channel) thats now on cable. His entire argument was it was pushing sexual orientation as part of its platform and his "child might watch it".

What ever happened to parental responsibility and changing the channel?

I have some friends from Australia who laugh at the U.S. when it comes to sex.

They frequently say they are damned glad they got the criminals and we got the puritans.

We seem to be dealing with a hang-over from that puritan mindset even now.

I don't understand why people worry so much about their children being exposed to sex, nudity or alternate lifestyles. If you teach a child well in your own home, answer their questions honestly and respect them and others catching sight of an exposed nipple or a couple guys kissing isn't going to ruin them.
