Because I will never, ever, ever "settle" again. I will remain single until I die, unless I find someone that is truly compatible. Clue: My profile is not written in Linear A.

I just can't stand being around someone whose pulse I have to check to make sure they're still with me, and never dares to have an opinion of their own.

I agree - and while we're at it, let's do away with the Congress as well. We need a new dealer and a new deck.

YellowRose,

Have you checked out Christian Spiritualism or Progressive Christianity? PC seems to be more of a "return to the source" approach, which would be purist in thought - CS embraces some philosophies that would likely be considered as heretical to the typical meta-Christian view, but retains the basic principles.

Exactly! It always leaves me picturing the person sitting at home over their dictionary or what not memorizing every word they can, only if it's over 5 syllables!, and then taking notes on what words they could possibly use them in place of!

does it occur to you that some people simply know a lot of words from reading voraciously, or going to college? Not everyone is a show-off. It seems a weird thing to pick on people for - are we supposed to pretend we don't know any words that you don't know?

You missed what I was saying I think. I read voraciously. I understand the big words. I have absolutely no problem with people that use them. What I'm talking about here is something like this:

Rather than saying, "I just had a huge fight." (Just an example, I know it's lame sentence.)

They'd say, "I just had a gargantuanly negative verbal intercourse!"

I'd have to laugh if someone said that to me - Why it's quite obvious that it should be phrased, "I've recently been engaged in a monumentally conflictive dialogue.".

than the average person. When you first meet someone, how many times do you think you need to point this out? Or do you really think it's necessary to insert the bigger words that mean the same thing into every sentence?

I almost never try to use more advanced vocabulary into my conversations. Not only is it pompous, but it really isn't an indication of more-advanced intelligence- for all you know, the person might have just studied a Thesaurus or something.

Indubitably.....

What happened to smacking your kid when they talked to strangers or the ever so classic "don't talk to strangers"...sorry but I would have to say I'm against this except in special cases where the child honestly can't know the difference either because of a disability or a mental state. But if your kid is of normal intellect there is no reason they can't scream out or walk away, teach don't find ways around it.

If someone tried abducting my kids, I'd probably end up paying their hospital bill. I've taught them to knife & neuter first, and ask questions later.

Pets: Yes
Kids: (I have 2) Don't even go there. I resent even buying chipped merchandise at the store, or being asked what my zip-code and/or phone number is.

Something like this, although it offers obvious benefits, will, no doubt in my military mind, be abused by some affectionate government agency (sarcasm intended). There is no way to adequately protect your self from the invasion of privacy. It's a baby-step to Big Brother - Get everyone used to the concept, and then quietly pass a law requiring that everyone be chipped at birth - Then it's just a little hop to controlling every conceivable facet of your existence.

~ How about a bracelet that only the parent has the security key for? I don't think I'd have problem with that.

"It's the 'same difference'!"

The way I understand it, in order to have the condition defined as 'same difference', you would have to have at least 3 of something.
Two items/issues cannot be different in commonality, without a third to compare them to.

Not saying that I take this as gospel, but with all of the disinformation that's frothing about, no one really knows what to believe anymore. For what it's worth.....

Part 1 of 6 to get you started, if interested:

"The Power Of Nightmares", BBC - 2004
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYH8eM910fs&feature=related

In the video, top ranking CIA operatives admit that al-Qaeda is a complete and total fabrication by the CIA. They plainly state that NO SUCH ORGANIZATION HAS EVER EXISTED AT ANY TIME. The fantasy was spun in January 2001 by Jamal al Fadl, a Sudanese who had been with Bin Laden in the early 1990s. Jamal al Fadl stole money from Bin Laden, and then sought protection in the USA. The FBI and CIA paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars to create the al-Qaeda fiction. In fact, al Fadl invented the name al-Qaeda.

When you turn off the engine, the cylinder head may still be very hot. Since the temperature sensor is mounted in the head and, coolant is no longer flowing, it will send a signal that the car is overheating. The computer will turn on the radiator fan to cool it down. This is perfectly normal. Does your car have a temperature gauge?

I second this....You're in Florida, it's already getting warm, it's normal. My Taurus does the same thing.
