On Monday we will start a thread called
American Poet Auditions.
Anyone is eligible to audition.
Bring your best stuff.
If you pass the audition you get to compete on the main stage,
where the judges pick a winner.
If you don't pass the audition you can still compete
on the second stage where the critics pick a winner.
The second stage winner will compete against the
main stage winner and the judges will pick the
first American Poet from among the two.
Everyone has a shot at winning. You can fail the audition,
kick ass on the second stage and maybe just win it all.

The three judges of American Poets main stage thread
are me, Ontario, and beautyinthechaos.
The audition winners will compete on the main stage.
There will also be a second stage thread where anyone
can compete and the judges there will be YOU.
The winner of the main stage thread will be picked
by the judges.
The winner of the second stage will be picked
by vote of the critics (you!)
The winner of the main stage and the winner of the
second stage will then compete for the judges
and the winner will be the first American Poet.
So...
It is possible that someone who doesn't pass the audition
for the main stage to go to the second stage and kick ass
and have a shot at being the first American Poet.

Do you have what it takes?

As you know American Idol has three judges.
I think American Poet should have 3 also.
I am looking for two people to join me on
the judging panel. To qualify you must
not be a critic, the critics will be judging
the second stage poets and it is there
that we need critics. I also am looking
for people who aren't poets but rather are
readers of poetry to be judges. If you're
interested in being a judge for American poet
mail me on this site.

Fox has American Idol.
Just Say Hi is gonna have American Poet.
This contest will be like no other.
The poets will duke it out to
see who will be the first American Poet.
There will be eliminations until the moment
that it comes down to one- The American Poet
I will be one of the judges and so I will not be
eligible to win. There will be auditions.
The auditions will determine whether you will
compete on the main stage which will have no
critics but you will be judged by the judges
or a second stage thread where you will be judged
by the critics. I am even toying with a seperate thread
dedicated just to the critics, a critics corner where
discussion about the writing takes place between the
critics. A firm date has not yet been set for this
but it's coming soon so brush up on your writing
and prepare to audition. Oh, I almost forgot there
will be an American Critic too. Do you have what
it takes to be the first American Poet or the first
American Critic? Auditions will take place soon and
will be done by email on this site.

Greeneyedlady,
That was a beautiful poem you wrote. It was very sensual
and I love the imagery like when you write of candles
and shadows of love dancing on the walls.

Sweet Country Girl,
You did it! You wrote
about the phone book and
got my juices flowing.
Your writing is so
fucking sexy.
Ontario is right.

Sweet Country Girl,
I bet you could read
the phone book and
make it somehow erotic.
What you wrote was so
beautiful.

Baby you're my world.
You are everything to me.
You are the definition of a woman.
I was this sad and lonely man
til' you came along. Lover,
you set me free. I could
feel the foundation of love
being built in my heart.
I could feel the beating
of yours, I knew then and there
that we were meant to be
from the very start.
Love's passion is what
you and I share. I won't
live in a world where you
aren't there. When I dream
at night I see you. You
take me to places so far away!
When I wake I see your lovely face.
I thank God for you as I wake and pray.
You got my attention the first time
I looked into your eyes. You
captured me with that first kiss.
When we made love for the first time
I knew no other love could ever
be like this. No other love
could ever do. Sweet beautiful lady
we were destined for each other.
Lover I only want you.

when you were really fantasizing.
CCP, you rock!

Alone in this dark room
I find myself thinking about you.
I know you're gone,
you're with another- I must move on.
You left our happy home
to feed on your lust.
You had totally consumed me
and now you're onto your
next victim. I've got
the kids, the dog and
the house. I even have
a mouse to keep me company.
Unfortunately I also have
your memory that haunts
my soul and turns my
heart into stone.

Let me preface this by telling you that I am a
registered Republican.

Yesterday the Bush administration got a big slap in the
face by the voters. The Democrats now have control of
the senate and the house of representatives. I believe
that the results of the voting was more of a way for voters
to voice their dissatisfaction with Bush rather than voting
for or against a certain candidate. I myself have to say
that I am very dissatisfied with Bush. He was put all of
our resources into Iraq and Afghanistan and basically
no real resources at home. I also blame Bush for taking
no real action to stop the influx of illegal aliens. He
talks about security but lets our southern border be
basically unsecured. Also under Bush "outsourcing"
started. American jobs were sent overseas. I also think
the economy is booming if you're rich. If you're middle
class or poor the economy has been awful. The truth wiil
eventually come out about the economy. I'm not saying I
am jumping for joy at the thought of Democrats taking over
but I am joyful that a message was sent to Bush to get
his shit together. If he doesn't learn from this he will
cost Republicans the next presidential election. The
people spoke loudly yesterday. Oh, I almost forgot,
about a week ago on 60 minutes the guy appointed to run
the faith based initiatives office told how he was laughed
at and not taken seriously. He said that religion was not
exactly taken seriously by the Bush administration. I think
that finding this out made alot of Christian voters who
would show up and vote Republican disallusioned. I don't
think republican candidates lost because of fault of their
own. I think they lost because of their association with
Bush.
