The first American Poet will be named sometime around
9:30pm on Thursday.

Here, on this stage, two are left standing after three days
of intense competition. Two artists will be cheered on
by their fellow poets and one will be left standing.
That one will be Just Say Hi's first AMERICAN POET.

I have never seen a thread so jam-packed with talent.
Any one of you could have won, it was THAT close.
When you go back and read the main stage entries you
will see just what I saw. I was in amazement.
Each person that entered this contest breathed new
life into this forum. Let's keep the wave going
even after tomorrow night's winner is announced.
I would have to say that the Main Stage thread was,
to me, a poetry dream team thread. The best of the
best. You should all be proud. You are all winners!

This was a tough choice. I can safely say I speak for the
other judges that I have not seen so much talent displayed
in one place as I had on the American Poet Main Stage.
The second stage rocked as well! It was not easy to make
this decision- each poet was great! You breathed life into
this forum. Let's keep it going long after the contest is

I appreciate the poem but it can't be considered for
the competition here because only people who won auditions
last night can post poems here. Please post your poem
on American Poet Second Stage. You have a real chance
of winning there because hardly anyone has posted there.
The second stage title is up for grabs and the winner there
takes on the winner here for the title tomorrow.

We were originally going to end the second stage at 6pm
to allow 3 hours for people to vote. Hardly anyone has
entered the second stage competition so We're extending
the deadline for the second stage til 8pm eastern to
allow for more people to win. Remember, IT IS ENTIRELY
POSSIBLE TO HAVE NOT GOTTEN PICKED LAST NIGHT AND STILL
WIN. THAT'S WHAT THE SECOND STAGE IS ALL ABOUT.

You still have a chance to win the contest.
All you have to do is post on the second stage
where the winner is chosen by popular vote.
The winner of the second stage will compete
with the winner of the main stage for the title.
There hasn't been many posts in the second stage
so it is still up for grabs.
