The Adult Factor.....
|
|
Yesterday I reach a new stage in what I call The Adult Factor. You know, those little steps you take toward thinking, acting, and actually being an adult! I'm in pretty good shape in that regard, for the most part, but there was one area I still had to deal with as far as my ex. CARS!!
In our 16 years of marriage we had over 100 cars, with 14 of them being Corvette's. It was an issue we fought about alot, mainly because it didn't make sense to be spending so much money on yet another car when we didn't need it, and he didn't work or pay the bills...just spent it! Anyway, until Saturday I always viewed guys that are "motorheads" with a weary eye, and usually glared at guys in Corvette's when they drove by! Stupid, I know, especially because I do appreciate the knowledge, expertise and care some people put into their "rides." Anyway....I passed a guy having trouble with his Corvette, hood up and overheating, and I actually said, "Poor guy. That sucks!" MAJOR PROGRESS ~ next time I might even stop! What "ah ha" moments have you had that made you realize you were moving beyond an old bias or issue and into the realm of being an adult and letting it go? |

Sounds like you are "cleaning house" in more ways than one! How exciting for you. I know that after my divorce I re-created myself, casting aside the old me and the person others wanted me to be. I found a style that suited my tastes and my life. I entertain alot so that was a factor, and I wanted my home to be a comfortable safe-haven for me, my kids, and all who enter...getting them to leave is another story! I used alot of earthtones, with an occasional splash of color to keep things interesting, but the special touches I ended up with was a combination of my family history and the person I've become. When people leave my house they have a better sense of who I am, and I like that. The guest room has a lighthouse theme, with a collection of sea shells and art we'd gathered on past vacation, and a sprinkling of family photo's in shell-covered frames. Even the bookcase and night stand look like lighthouses and old sea trunks(courtesy of Hobby Lobby!) Really fun to decorate and my friends & family love staying in that room! Whatever you decide...have fun and be yourself! I acutally have a great collection of lighthouses that stem back to when I lived in Maine when I got to see a few of them. I find them fascinating. Thanks for the tips, you home sounds warm and cozy and inviting! Thank you ~ I hope so. Have fun decorating...and bust out those lighthouses! The show "Design on a Dime" on HGTV is a great place to get ideas...or the Home & Garden website! |

I doubt my sons foot prints (size 9 and 10.5) would be as adorable though. But what a GREAT IDEA! |

You really hurt me, so why would you think that I'd just let you come back and do it again?

I thought the episode where the Sundance Film Festival overruns the town was pretty funny, although the Mr. Hanky bit was....ummmmmm....well, very South Park! RAW!

How come their is no Mrs. Goodbar? There IS....it's my Mom! (my maiden name - no other similarities, well except for that one sister-in-law!!) But, if we really want to get philisophical, try being a teenage ~ Mormon no less ~ and having THAT last name when the movie came out! Uhhhh, yeah.... Beyond that, great post! |

Well...no, thank goodness! Most the guys I've met from this site are just what they seem. I hope they find me to be the same.
However, we talk alot before the great "unveiling" (meeting, folks!), so I think that helps dispell any false notions! |

My date and I went to the comedy club. I usually have a great sense of humor, but this guy was NOT funny! JERK would be more appropriate...for my date AND the comic!!
Disappointing.... |

My condolences to you, and to his family. |

Maybe it's the hope of living and loving completely that makes me keep trying ~ even if it's online dating!
It could be the amusing, annoying, and astonishing forums covering topics that don't come up in my daily & professional life that bring me back! And sometimes it's like a car wreck....you just can't turn away! Whatever the case, a little over a year ago I decide to give this a try just to get me "back out there." I've deactivated several times, in between dating spurts and the demands of life, but find this an interesting venue to meet people I might not meet otherwise, date guys outside my "traditional" social circle, and allow myself to experience the unexpected! Like most, life keeps me pretty busy, but I do enjoy visiting the site to see what people are up to. Is it a replacement for my real life? No, but it beats cable! Am I hoping to find something more, something deeper, something that means...something? Well, I think my username answers that question! |

I'm a Colorado native and love my home state!
If you're thinking of visiting I would suggest Glenwood Springs ~ it's a great mountain community with lots of fun things to do and the Hot Springs are great. Excellent skiing nearby too! Denver is fun too, just different attractions to see. Lots to see and do here! |

I'm shocked no one has mentioned it yet, but at the top of my "Who Not To Date" list would be the:
Norman Bates Dater - guys with Mommy issues! I raised my kids, don't need another one; and although I won't tolerate another woman in our relationship, it definitely better not be Mommy! Major deal breaker for me. |
