This is like walking into a party where you don't know a soul. I hope my shirts tucked in.

Don't know how a profile is supposed to look or sound, so I just told the truth.

Can't usually go wrong with the truth! Your profile is honest, direct and funny...you should do just fine!

If you get bored with NYC, there are some great sights to see in Colorado! Happy Hunting!

Well, in my mind it's not so much about me but rather the wonderful opportunities I've been fortunate enough to participate in to help others.

I am lucky enough to be involved with several non-profit groups that are dedicated to meeting the needs of those who are struggling and hurting, as well as several organizations that impact systemic change through legislation and policy changes. True change...

Beyond that, raising my sons to be honorable, charitable people who want to make a difference and give back, while practicing those concepts myself, is what I try to do on a daily basis. flowerforyou

Way cool a full and I am sure a happy lifeglasses

Well, as most of us can attest...some days it's VERY rewarding; some days it breaks your heart. All we can do is keep trying.

Thank you for caring, and for posting this thoughtful topic. flowerforyou

Eight kids between them? To me that is a pretty powerful trigger!

Reminder her that she is a mother first, a woman second! She is charged with making decisions that are in the best interests of her kids, and to some extent his if he isn't capable right now. She needs to protect them from the "drama" that comes from being involved with a guy that doesn't have it together yet and is reeling from what
is going on in his CURRENT marriage (that should be another trigger.)

If my friend hit me with that argument it would have the same affect as a stinging slap across the face....

Zero tolerance for drug usage, and if it's not in moderation to much alcohol would be an issue too.

No thanks...

There is either a mechanical short in the wire--which could be caused by mice gnawing or the stripping on the wires disintegrating over time--or some water has leaked into the roof over the fixture and caused a short.

If it was me, I would get a repair person to come fix the thing instead of trying to fix it myself. There may be a short somewhere besides in the light fixture, in which case you will need special equipment to find out where it is.

I hope this helps! Be safe. yours in Chaos, Scarlett

Thanks, Scarlett. I don't mind checking out some of the basic stuff, like lightbulbs and such, but wiring I will leave to the professionals. All of this is follow up to a breaker that kept popping that I finally had replaced, but we are talking three different rooms here, all upstairs. As this house is only a year old, I worry that maybe there's an issue with the internal wiring. Perfect....frown

Your def not flipping the awitch to fast.

But it does sound like somethings up with the wiring. What exscatly...I couldn't tell ya.

I could be that one of the wires isnt grounded or maybe there are some wires touching. I'm not an electrician so I could be way off.

If you decide to investigate it though, make sure you cut the breaker switch so you dont get fried.

Thanks, Mayhem. I'm gonna climb back up there in a bit to investigate so I will flip the breaker. I definately don't want to get fried!

Repair....person, I like it! Thank you, Ted.

This is easy though ~ last week it was dealing with a snake in the house ( and no, he wasn't my date!!)

I have learned to be a pretty handy gal over the years (no pun intented!) and don't shy away from projects around the house just 'cause I don't have a man to do it for me...however, I do have a question I hope someone more experienced than I can figure out.

I have a home office and as I zipped in the room the other day I flipped on the light rather quickly and both bulbs blew. I climbed up on a chair, replaced them, and went about my business. The other night the same thing happened in my bedroom. It took me a few days but I just climbed off the top of my bed, standing on my tiptoes to change the bulbs, and when I flipped the switch they blew again...with sparks this time! Now I'm not opposed to starting fires in my bedroom, by any means, but not this kind!! Am I to fast on the switch  , or should I be worried about the wiring in my new house?

I hate feeling like a helpless girl, NOT used to that, but am open to suggestions! I welcome success stories from the self-sufficient women out there too, and the men that help us even when we say we want to do it ourselves!

a man who you are confident is loyal to your relationship....and spends time with you doing things you like to do, even if he doesn't care for them, just to see a smile from you....even if he has little money to get by on....

OR...a man who has plenty of money to go around, and gives you money, thinking that it is all he has to do to keep you happy?

One or the other...you can't have both...

Interesting options, Lovemeifyoucan. You said I can't have both, but honestly I would take neither. While I'd take a genuine guy who just wants to make me smile over someone that throws cash at me trying to buy happiness, both are really just "indulging" me, trying to buy my love but in different ways.

That's not the basis for a strong relationship, no matter how well-intended. Money aside, I just want a partner who will be equally "invested" in the relationship....that will make me smile and keep us both happy! flowerforyou

So I guess I'm saying C, neither of the above.

Well, I won tickets to the Comedy House. I could bring up to ten people with me. I can't go 'cause everybody is either working, studying, or just wanted to sleep. Now I'm bored missing the show. frown

Bummer chicka wht didn't ya go yourself and had some fun no telling what might have happenedbigsmile

Ha Ha! No. I don't like going to places by myself. I could have had a good time watching the show, but then it would be awkward for me too. I thought about it. I just don't want to waste gas.

One thing I learned a long time ago....you are only alone until you get there! I never let that keep me from doing something I want to do ~ life is just to short! Hope you can cut loose and enjoy it yourself next time. flowerforyou

I'm helping my son with a close-analysis paper...on Frankenstein!!

Oddly, the subject made me think of this site....

Interesting. His monster was a creation of an man's genius that went wrong...much like some people create profiles on here that are way off from who they are. But I am babbling here.

Good analysis, Goof! I was thinking more along the lines of people here trying to breathe life into something that was once "dead", hoping to create something new and exciting (love, passion, hope!) But that's just my "genius" at work....

I'd rather scrub the paper and watch Mel Brooks version of Frankenstein tonight! bigsmile

There is a definite body type that I am attracted to, and it's usually not the kind that hates to break a sweat...or a nail; but when I think of a "manly" man I picture a guy with a barrel chest that I can lay my head on when things are tough, two strong arms that I feel safe in, and someone whose feet are firmly planted on the ground so that I always know where he stands.

"Manly" traits like honesty, character, integrity, those are what I tend to look for....if he's "purdy" too, that's just gravy!!! love

I love to sit in the park at lunch, close my eyes, and listen to the combination of city sounds, the rustling of the leaves, the chatter of the geese, and the echo of music and laughter. I love the sounds and feeling of life "happening" all around me! (I know...I'm a sap!)

He just better not "follow through" too soon...right?

Well definitely not on my shiny shoes! noway

Yeah. The pH levels in jism is pretty high, and could dull the shoes upon instant contact.

Well, that....and it'd be a terrible waste! blushing bigsmile
