I'm in the middle of the 1 millionth move I've made in my life. frustrated So, I'm lookin at my stuff, the things I used to decorate with, pictures and things and realize they don't suit me at all. Stuff I've been draggin' around and using for years, Home Interior stuff my sister gave me. I don't even like Home Interior, never did, why I ever started using the stuff is beyond me. Decided last night I was getting rid of it all and completely changing things. So, now I need some fresh new ideas for decorating, got any ideas? They should not include plastic or silk flowers of any kind and no butterflies or talkin fish noway I already started in my bathroom. Bought a new shower curtain, anyone know where I can find purple bath rugs?!

When I did the purple in the past I had to go to places like JCPenny's to find them but Target might have them now.

Actually there are several shows that has to deal with decorating I tend to watch them when ever I get in the mood to redecorate.

My bathroom is done in leopards, tigers, zebras, lions ect it is a regular forest in there.

K- now that I've got the rugs covered...what about wall stuff and other things. I'd really like to try to get away from the usual stuff, and get into more nature and natural textures. I don't like a lot of knick-knacks, just feels like clutter to me, but a few tasteful items to bring the whole room together is what I'm lookin for.

lol but........some of the ideal I found to do took me a while even the drawerss by the sink have leopard print on the front of them and the back ground was painted a glossy black then I made curtains to hang on the outside of the shower out of the same print the bar going across is a piece of PVC that the shower curtain rod goes through that is wrapped in the same material found all the idea on a show that is all about different ideas on decorating. Turned out pretty kewl bigsmile

Sounds like you are "cleaning house" in more ways than one! How exciting for you. flowerforyou

I know that after my divorce I re-created myself, casting aside the old me and the person others wanted me to be. I found a style that suited my tastes and my life. I entertain alot so that was a factor, and I wanted my home to be a comfortable safe-haven for me, my kids, and all who enter...getting them to leave is another story!

I used alot of earthtones, with an occasional splash of color to keep things interesting, but the special touches I ended up with was a combination of my family history and the person I've become. When people leave my house they have a better sense of who I am, and I like that.

The guest room has a lighthouse theme, with a collection of sea shells and art we'd gathered on past vacation, and a sprinkling of family photo's in shell-covered frames. Even the bookcase and night stand look like lighthouses and old sea trunks(courtesy of Hobby Lobby!) Really fun to decorate and my friends & family love staying in that room!

Whatever you decide...have fun and be yourself!

HUmm try a Tuesday Morning if you have them there or Big lots even for pictures even wicker small wicker fans make good decorations you can spray paint them to the color you desire. I even re-spray paint vases in the same way shsh I have been known to do the same thing with the small trash cans for the bathroom why buy another color for $6-$15 when a $1.99 can of paint will do it for ya.bigsmile

That is so cool! I doubt my sons foot prints (size 9 and 10.5) would be as adorable though.  But what a GREAT IDEA!

I acutally have a great collection of lighthouses that stem back to when I lived in Maine when I got to see a few of them. I find them fascinating.

Thanks for the tips, you home sounds warm and cozy and inviting!flowerforyou

hey now I actually saw a website where they did do the decorating with old car parts ect and one with motorcycles that was pretty darn kewl. The love seat was actually the front part of the car from one side you could see part of the hood the bumpers and fenders it was cut out with the love seat inserted on the opposite side.
